Building a Haunted House

The Haunted House is a 3x3 flat ride that's very noticeable because of its height. If a Haunted House and a path were built at the same height level, the path would need to go up 10 height units before it can clear the Haunted House, which is the largest height clearance requirement on any flat ride in the game.

In due to its extremely large height, the Haunted House also has a fairly low maximum height off the ground of only 6 units of height, which is identical to the Bumper Cars and the Flying Saucers. The combination of its large size and small maximum height off ground occasionally makes it very awkward to build the ride in developed parks. If you plan on incorporating a Haunted House into your park's repertoire of flat rides, it's best to do it sooner so you can build your other rides around your Haunted House versus the other way around.

The Haunted House is also one of the least customizable rides in the game since it has no operating options that you can change, and there are no reskinned versions of it. What you see is what you get.

Stats

But while the ride has some negative aspects with its large size and its lack of customization, the Haunted House's big upside is its stats. It comes with a base Excitement of 3.41, which is by far the highest base Excitement rating of any Gentle Ride in the game. Its Intensity Rating is notably higher than the other Gentle Rides as well, although this doesn't really affect anything since it's still quite low. It Nausea Rating is practically non-existent. The Haunted House is also one of the very few rides in the game with no stat modifiers. This means that no matter where you build it or what what you build around it, it will always have this exact same stat spread every single time you build the ride.

The advantage that the Haunted House gains from its high Excitement Rating is unfortunately not as profound as you might expect due to its low Excitement Rating Value Multiplier of only 20. Still, its high stats allow you to charge a fairly high amount for the ride as a brand new Haunted House can be charged for $2.00 in OpenRCT2 or for $7.40 in the vanilla games.

The Haunted House and Crooked House are both tied for having the lowest BonusValue of any ride in the entire game at only 22 (which is also two of three rides in the game that have a BonusValue that isn't divisible by 5). This plays a part in calculating the ride's maximum price, its ride value, and the number of guests that it attracts to the park.

Throughput and Profit

The Haunted House has a decent profit for a Gentle Ride. Due to its high Excitement Rating, you can charge a pretty decent amount for it.

The Haunted House has a decent capacity of 15 guests per ride, and is also a sheltered ride meaning that guests will ride it if it starts to rain. Each Haunted House ride lasts about 40 seconds.

Over the course of one in-game year, a Haunted House can process a maximum of 1,050 guests.

Using the 5-13 month old ride price as benchmark, this Haunted House would've generated about $1,630.00 (after subtracting the operating cost).

Verdict

The Haunted House is a decent Gentle Ride. Although its large size is a bit awkward to work with sometimes, and the number of guests it attracts to the park is low, its good stats, decent capacity, and rain protection can give it a decent profit compared to other Gentle flat rides.
