Guest Name Cheats are an easter egg in RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 and 2.

(Guests named Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher, and Damon Hill driving on King Karts in Karts & Coasters)

Basic Information

Guest name cheats are cheats that are activated when you rename a guest with a specific name. To rename a guest, click on them, then click on the nametag icon that appears on the guest window.

When you rename the guest with a guest name cheat, that guest will now have the effects of the cheat active for as long as they have the name.

A guest cannot have the exact same name as another guest, but they can have the exact same words if the capitalizations of letters are different. Using the Jacques Villeneuve example, this means that you can have "Jacques Villeneuve", "jacques villeneuve", "JACQUES VILLENEUVE", and "JaCqUeS vIlLeNeUvE" as guest names in the park at one time. The capitalization of the names does not matter for having the cheat active meaning that all four of these ways of writing the cheat name are valid ways of activating the cheat, resulting in multiple guests with the same cheat active.

There are a total of 26 guest name cheats, and all but one of them can roughly fit into one of six categories: Go Karts, Animations, Guest Stats, Vandalism, Interactions With Other Guests, and Unique Thoughts

Go Karts

There are a total of five guest name cheats that all affect the speed they drive Go Karts, arranged from slowest to fastest.

• Mr Bean (with no period)
• Chris Sawyer
• Jacques Villeneuve
• Michael Schumacher
• Damon Hill

• Mr Bean drives every Go Kart at a snail's pace, cruising around at a speed of about 5mph (8km/h).
• Chris Sawyer drives slightly faster than average at a speed of 23mph (37km/h).
• Jacques Villeneuve drives faster at about 27mph (43km/h).
• Michael Schumacher drives faster again at 30mph (48km/h).
• Damon Hill drives the fastest at a speed of about 40mph (64km/h).

These cheats only work if the Go Karts are in Race Mode. If the Go Karts are in Continuous Circuit Mode, all guests will drive as though they had no cheat active.

To test the practical effect of this, I placed the Mega Track pre-built and ran the track with a single car and recorded the time it took for them to complete a single lap on my phone's stopwatch (and not the in-game timer because the stats of the Go Karts does not update unless you change the ride's operating mode or number of laps).

Here is the speed of all 6 guests. Note that there is a slight randomness to this because guests will change lanes at seemingly random times which will result in slight variations in lap times.

Animations

There are four guest name cheats that add additional animations to the guests while active:

• Chris Sawyer
• Simon Foster
• Katie Smith
• Katie Brayshaw

• Chris Sawyer will periodically take a camera out of his pocket and take pictures with it (in addition to its other effect of driving Go Karts slightly faster).
• Simon Foster will periodically take out a painter's easel and paint on it.
• Katie Smith will periodically jump in the air, utilizing the same animation that guests jumping in Mazes do.
• Katie Brayshaw will periodically wave to other guests.

The exact algorithm for how frequently these effects trigger is unknown, but each one seems to have roughly the same probability of happening at the same time intervals.

Guest Stats

The following 5 cheats all effect the stats (Hunger, Toilet, etc.) of the guests you put them on.

• Frances McGowan
• Katherine McGowan
• Carol Young
• Mia Sheridan
• Melanie Warn

• Frances McGowan will have her Bathroom stat increase incredibly quickly and will need to use the Toilets in your park much more frequently.
• Katherine McGowan will have her Hunger stat increase much more rapidly and will buy food more often.

• Carol Young will have her Happiness drained continuously.
• Mia Sheridan will have her Nausea increase continuously.
• Melanie Warn will have her Happiness and Energy set to the maximum, and her Nausea completely removed upon giving them the name.

The Melanie Warn cheat works differently than the other ones though. All four of the other names will effect the guest's stats continuously for as long as they have the name. Melanie Warn however is a one-time effect that activates as soon as the name is given to the guest, and her stats continue to function as normal again. If you give the same guest the name again, the effect will reactivate.

Vandalism

There are two guest name cheats that will cause guests to vandalize your park.

• Eilidh Bell

• Lisa Stirling will leave litter on the ground everywhere she walks.
• Eilidh Bell will immediately become a vandal after you give the name to a guest, no matter how happy they currently are, and will gain the red face in the stats window as soon as they walk next to a piece of path ornamentation. She can lose the red face, but she will instantly gain it back again as soon as they walk next to a piece of path ornamentation.

Interactions With Other Guests

There are four guest name cheats that will cause them have unique interactions with other guests.

• Emma Garrell
• Joanne Barton
• Nancy Stillwagon
• Felicity Anderson

Emma Garrell will give purple clothes to all of the guests she walks past, and will also have their own clothes changed to purple as well. Joanne Barton will give pizza to every guest she walks past. Nancy Stillwagon will give ice cream to every guest that she walks past.

While Emma Garrell will get her purple clothing and Joanne Barton gets her pizza, Nancy Stillwagon does not get her ice cream. The pizza on Joanne's person is also permanent.

Felicity Anderson however is much less cheerful. She causes guests she walks by to throw up, regardless of their actual Nausea stat value at the time.

Thoughts

There are a total of six guest thoughts which give each guest a unique thought.

• Corina Massoura
• Donald MacRae
• John Wardley
• David Ellis
• Andy Hine (only in vanilla RCT2)
• Elissa White (only in vanilla RCT2)

• Corina Massoura will frequently think "It's too crowded here" even if the path she is walking on is entirely empty.
• Donald MacRae will frequently think he's lost.

The remaining cheats only activate while the guest is on a ride.

• John Wardley will think "Wow!" while he is on a ride.
• David Ellis will think "...and here we are on [ride name]" while he is on a ride, replacing "[ride name]" with the name of the ride he is on.

The remaining two cheats were removed from OpenRCT2 due to product placement, and are only accessible in the vanilla game.

• Andy Hine will think "Nice ride! But not as good as the Phoenix..." after riding a roller coaster. Phoenix is a wooden roller coaster at Knoebels Amusement Resort in Elysburg, Pennsylvania.
• Elissa White will think "I'm so excited - It's an Intamin ride!" when she enters the queue line of a Giga Coaster. Intamin is a Liechtensteinian thrill ride and roller coaster manufacturer, and is perhaps the best known name across amusement park fans.

Uncategorized

The final cheat doesn't fit into either of the above categories. Naming a guest Katie Rodger will make them immediately start heading for the park exit. If they're currently heading for a ride, their current action won't change to "Leaving the park", but they will continue walking towards the park exit and leave the park anyway.
