Powdermelons cannot be purchased with gold and instead must be found, traded for (2 Pine Cone via Raccoon Shop), created with the Seed Maker, or breaking open crates and barrels. You can only find the seeds between Fall 21 and Winter 20, unless you are trading at the Racoon Wife's Shop or the Seed Maker, so these are really just a tiny bonus to your farm instead of a major contributor to your field.
With the difficulty in obtaining seeds for your field during Winter, instead, you should focus your energy on your animals and exploring everything else that Stardew has to offer during the festive season. Also, don't forget to upgrade your tools during Winter!
