What Are Rarecrows?
In total, there are 9 Rarecrows, which are functionally equivalent to the Scarecrow in that it is placed in a single tile of space in your farm and it can ward off Crows, a crop's number one enemy.
In this guide we'll show you all the Rarecrows you can collect, their locations, and the prices they cost to obtain. Rarecrows are visually distinct and can add a certain level of charm to your farm depending on the aesthetic you're going for, so go collect them all!
Rarecrow #1 - Stardew Valley Fair
The first Rarecrow on the list comes to us from the Stardew Valley Fair, which takes place on Fall 16 every year. The design is a reference to Turnip Head, a character from the Studio Ghibli movie, Howl's Moving Castle.

Rarecrow #2 - Spirit's Eve Festival
The spooky design on Rarecrow #2 should have been the indication that we're looking for it in the Fall. Designed after a wicked witch, you can find this available through a purchase from Pierre's stall during the Spirit's Eve Festival on Fall 27 every year.

Rarecrow #4 - Festival of Ice / Traveling Cart
Right in front of Marnie's Ranch on Winter 8 is the Festival of Ice, an icy event which sees the village come out to make ice sculptures, snowmen, and igloos. You an also participate in an Ice Fishing Contest, though that won't be required to obtain this Rarecrow - just don't enter the contest until you've purchased it!

Hit up the festival between 9am and 2pm to get your hands on the Snowman Rarecrow, which can be purchased from the Traveling Merchant during the Festival of Ice for 5000g.
There is an alternative way to purchase this Rarecrow if you miss it during the festival, or you just want more of them. This will randomly appear at the Traveling Cart during Fall and Winter, and will be slightly cheaper coming in at 4000g, so don't forget to head on down to Cindersap Forest on Fridays and Sundays to look for it.
Rarecrow #5 - Flower Dance Festival
If you're looking to collect the Farm Girl Rarecrow, you'll be lucky to find out that it can be obtained quite early on in a new save game by appearing at the Flower Dance Festival which takes place on Spring 24 every year.

Placing Your Rarecrows Effectively
If you want to get the most out of your Rarecrows, you're going to want to place them in the middle of your fields to get rid of crows in an 8 tile radius. If you don't want to take over your precious farm tiles, you can always opt to place them on the sides of fields in untillable land - just make sure they give you complete coverage!

That's everything you need to know about Rarecrows in Stardew Valley. We hope you have fun collecting them during the year and that you add some awesome flair to your farm.
