  • Yay, a good early game board clear for Shamans! I have been wanting a card like this for a long time. All other board clears shaman has are either overload (Sandstorm Elemental, Lightning Storm, Volcano) take a long time to setup (Hagatha's Scheme) or are pretty expensive (Earthquake, Tidal Wave).

  • It's a little tricky to work in because of the nature of corrupt. It can be good, with I think that the requirement to play a 5+ cost card first will make it unlikely to see use unless Y'shaarj is not the only corrupt matters effect.

The raw effect is not very good, and the corrupt effect is only just good enough. I think that this just doesn't make the cut.

Well, It's not early board clear. You need to play 5+ mana card first, so you can play board clear on turn 6.

True. But, you can still play it on turn 4 as a Consecration if you need to.

How? Am I missing something but I see it on 4 to be only 4 dmg to a single target

The card just deal 4 damage.

If you play it corrupted adds a Consecration effect.

  • Oops. My bad, I misread the card.

I still think it is pretty good though. It's like a mini The Lurker Below.

  • A good control shaman card. Deal 4 early game, better Consecration later into the game. Corrupting it might not be that hard, as shaman already has a good amount of 5+ mana cost cards.

In standard this will see play in either highlander shaman or in control shaman.

In Wild this will probably see play in Big shaman, as that deck probably likes a card like this. Haven't really played that deck, but i'm guessing they probably like another board clear in the mid-late game.

  • I love the flavor here.

You throw something (deal 4 damage), and then the person in it splashes (the AoE). This card could be very powerful, although it's not that strong without Corrupting it, so I'm not too sure about it. By the time you're able to Corrupt it, 2 damage might no longer be enough to kill what you wanted with it.

That said, 4 mana for a Fireball and a Consecration is good at pretty much any point, so I reckon it'll see some play. If there was an option for half-stars, I'd rate it a 3.5.

  • Flavor is amazing, you do cannon ball, everyone gets splashed :D Tho im a bit worried about how many AOEs Shaman getting by this point.

I get what you're saying but pretty much every single Shaman AoE has some glaring weakness:

      • Lightning Storm: Overload makes it too clunky
      • Plague of Murlocs: Doesn't actually clear minions, very unreliable against boards of small minions
      • Hagatha's Scheme: Pretty bad topdeck, needs time in hand to be effective
      • Earthquake: The best of the bunch in regards to power to cost ratio, but it's still a 7 mana investment which means you only clear the board, you don't make a swing in your favor
      • Tidal Wave: Healing makes it very unique as an AoE but can't deal with most midgame minions by itself

Now you have Dunk Tank, a card that can be a better Swipe, but it can only be played as an AoE at best at turn 6, because you need to play a 5 drop before its corrupted effect activates.

However, how will this card interact with mana manipulation effects, like from cards like Far Sight, that can make it more playable (I imagine that, if drawn form Far Sight, this card costing 1 will become corrupted after playing a 2 cost card). There is a potential that the sheer number of AoE can bring some sort of Control Shaman to light but I believe that deck still needs some sort of winning late game card.

EDIT: I'll be rating this card 4/5, I also like the flavor.

  • Great flavour and artwork, hopefully the corrupted effect is good enough to see play.

  • Great for slower Shaman decks! I think 4 mana is right on the border to be "easily" corrupted also, so I expect this to be used. I'll try it in spell shaman for sure.

Jade Lightning was played a lot for burst, having direct dmg spells in shaman is different from having them in mage.. sure the 1/1,2/2, 3/3 probably made the card better but the burst with spell damage shaman has easy access to.. is relevant.

after corruption this is a better Swipe, specially cause you have spell dmg totem.

  • The corrupt version feels like the lightweight version of quest druid's Starfall-- 6 damage to one, then 2 damage to everything else.

    Not too bad.

  • Its honestly too expensive. Given how bad shaman have been throughout this year, you'd think this card would be worth 3 mana. Even at 3, its not really broken, since it needs to be corrupted to truly be amazing.

That said, this is not a bad card. Shaman needs some clears, and removal cards are by their nature not really played on curve anyway. Since shaman doesn't generate hundreds of small bs spells like priest and mage, its not hard to imagine it playing a 5 mana card somewhere near turn 5-6 where removals are generally more useful anyway.

Combined with Mo'arg Artificer, it deals an incredible 8 damage to a minion and 4 to others while also keeping the mo'arg alive. That's what I would call value worth exploring.

  • This is a weird card in my opinion. A bit like Swipe or Starfall (when you get both effects), you can use this to clear one large minion and a bunch of small ones. But it can go face? I'm having a hard time imagining the scenarios where you want to do 4 to face and AOE the board.

    • its not a ealry game board clear as need to play soemthing fo 5cost or higher before this is an aoe at all and then its still 2aoe onyl to most.

For actual ealry game aoe storm is much better and consistent.

  • I can't wait for this card to make a splash in the meta!

Also would drawing this card from Vashj Prime trigger the corrupt condition?

Drawing Amethyst Spellstone with Kobold Librarian upgrades it. So I would think yes, but I it may work differently.

  • "When I said bring a tank to the dungeon, this is not what I had in mind!"
    I laughed

  • So, if you're willing to wait, this is kind of like a better Swipe. Not bad.

  • 2 does not clear a lot nowadays, I've cut holy nova in my control decks and I'm even considering removing breath because of this.

  • I am really happy to see cards like this printed.  The notion of having to cast something 5+ before it isn't too far out of range thanks to Lightning Bloom, and being able to shoot a minion for 6, then others for 2 is like Starfire for Shamans... Totally a great card.

  • Looking the corrupted cards I guess they are pushing a slow meta now

  • Good aoe tool for a control Shaman, maybe it can get out ouf the trash bin

With Agatha's Scheme, Earthquake, Tidal Wave, etc, etc

        • and No draw and no win condition and no early clears/remova that are good and worthwile(aka not storm)

  • Decent board clear, but playing this card on turn 6, how many minions are you hoping to kill? Just one?

  • Well this lives in control shaman, if it is still a thing.

  • Super swipe seems sweet.  On the other hand, 4 mana 4 damage is pretty meh and the slowness of this card might kill it considering wide boards can come up much earlier than turn 5-6.

  • Four damage for 4 Mana is far from ideal, and corrupting it seems a bit slow. Had it been 3-Mana deal 3 with the same upgrade it would've been really strong, now it's borderline playable in my eyes.

  • This is still the only revealed shaman card. I highly hope this means shaman is getting a new exciting archetype.

  • Big smack and then a little splash I think its gonna show up at least a bit in some sort of control shaman

  • Too expensive, corrupt version is not even that great. Worse Consecration.

  • Board clear and a fairly easy condition to meet. This will be in  most Shaman decks for sure.

  • Works really well in spell damage shaman, and with Y'shraj OTK.  I like the card, will see good play in future expansions.

  • Good clear for the 4 mana

  • The fact that this can be super Swipe is enough incentive for Control Shaman to run this.

Will Control Shaman be a thing tho? *shrugs*

  • It goes face. More support for OTK Quest Y'Shaarj Shaman.

  • The AoE benefit comes online on turns 5-6 at the earliest, putting it in competition with Hagatha's Scheme, Earthquake, and Tidal Wave. The only application I see for this is the Y'Shaarj, the Defiler combo with Circus Medic in Quest Shaman, but that seems slow and fringe at best.

  • Not a bad card once corrupted but not great as just 4 damage.

  • Annoying in control shaman.

  • Decent enough without the Corrupt, and then nuts when it upgrades. I'd expect to see this in most Shaman lists so long as they aren't super low-cost.

  • A decent removal card, not sure if it's good enough to see play though. Maybe in a spell power deck

  • The corrupt effect makes it so the board clear aspect is a little slower than the mana suggests. I think it will still be good, but not quite as fast as we want it to be.

  • Pretty powerful removal spell for a slow Shaman deck--once the Corrupt goes off it's just a better Swipe.
