Idea for a new cosmetic item

Maybe Blizzard will read these forums, so here is an idea for a new cosmetic item: a pet.

You would get this pet after a short quest each year (for example win 10 ranked games, like the quests to get the alternate heroes).

This year, Year of Dragon you would get an egg,

Pet will be sitting on the playing desk - on the right your pet, on the left opponents pet. Just a comestic.

Then, as you play the pet gains experience and when it gets to a treshold, you can level up.

Level 1 - egg hatches, you get a small dragon - choose red/green/bronze

Level 2 - you can alter the color of dragon - red into dark red, fire red, metallic red, bronze into silver, golden, brown, green into blue, dark green, light green

Level 3 - you can change the head of dragon from 3 options (antler)

Level 4 - you can change the shape of wings (3 options)

Etc.

Next year you can get another pet - a bird in Year of raven, a small Mammoth in year of mammoth etc.

    • I've only made 3 purchases in my lifetime here: $2 during beta for a gold card and both of the 10-pack-plus-legendary packs.  Even when I've had the cash I've had no real reason to actually buy anything.

       

      If they made it a full on pet, with animations and interactions you can do with it including petting it, guiding it around..maybe even have it react to certain things, like cringe when you get hit or randomly hiss and swat at an opponent's card (entirely local and doesn't DO anything, just a visual thing).

      I'D #()$# BUY IT!  $10 minimum if it looks good.  $20 if it's so involved I literally lose games due to interacting with the thing (woops, missed my turn because I was feeding my dragon).  

      Dead serious here.  I'm one of those folks who had, and currently MISS, that old program where it was just a cat chasing after your mouse on your screen

  • Sounds nice, I like it. Could be implemented with some effort and a great option for them to make more money! 

  • It is a cool idea, but i very much doubt we will see anything like that. It just isnt what this game is about, but one can dream :)

      Blizzard asked for ideas for cosmetic items, so maybe it is possible

  • It will be so nice! The idea for more cosmetics has been around for sometimes by now and, if I'm not wrong, recently the've spoken about putting both decks "horizontally" so that the card back of each player can be seen better, just to show off a bit, so may something is moving and we'll see more costumization option.

  • That is a very nice idea. It could also open up the opportunity for blizz to sell additional skins for your pets.

  • And maybe some pet batlle as well? Pet uses a "mini-pet-deck" etc. Can lvl up, unlock talents what not.

  • I'm cool with it as long as Plague of Death removes all pets from the board.

  • I've always been a huge proponent of additional cosmetics in the game, specifically board flair.

    Board flair was an idea I had a while back where we could unlock (paid or unpaid) items that would sit beside the board and would showcase your achievements (like 1000 wins with a class) or just be cool looking stuff you could interact with during a game much like you can a normal Hearthstone board.

    The biggest blocker in creating such a system is mobile Hearthstone sadly. Mobile doesn't have any extra space beside the board for fun stuff like that, and there's no real room on the board for fun without removing the other corner that gives the board a theme. How do you think they could go about implementing this but for mobile users as well?

    But yeah, super on board with this! A leveling system for said cosmetics would definitely let you stand out more too as you play more and more Hearthstone, rewarding players with cool stuff that isn't just winning 5 games every season.

    • I play only on iPad and PC thus I never saw the mobile screen but yeah, it would need a tweak.

  • I really love this idea!  One problem though is this would only work on PC, as mobile users would have so much screen clutter as it is, a pet would be hard to see as well.  Their pet would have to be viewable outside of games, or something you swipe to see.

    MY cosmetic idea is voice lines.  You earn aditional voice lines and you can remove some and slide new ones in for every hero.  This way we can bring back "oops" voice lines, and add some new ones.  I like having conversations with other players only using the voice lines on the Hero's.  We better becareful because Blizz is gonna steal these ideas and put them in loot boxes!!!

      They should build the cosmetics into card packs, that way they can be themed for expansions and even give game veterans a reason to enjoy classic packs again. Every pack unlocks a sixth "card" which would be your cosmetic. If you already have it, enjoy some arcane dust instead. Cosmetics all craftable (or most at least) with arcane dust.

  • I would like titles aswell! Basicly everything that pushes me to do something else in the game in order to obtain prestige. 

    Silly example: „the whisperer“ ; obtained after killing 50 enemies with a whisp.

    Even hough i love them, cardbacks are wasted on the seasonal aspect and purely nostalgic.

      Yes, i would love some sort of achievements to be implemented in the game that would give you titles, gold, cards, cardbacks, skins etc.

      Like the PS4 Trophys/Xbox Achievements or something similiar - that could be kinda cool

      A pet could be a nice addition but i personaly would prefer somekind of achievements

  • I like the idea of adding a 6th item in packs, since Hearthstone as a game is going down in popularity, this might be a great idea to bring players back.  I'm going to share this post to the official forums.  I'm also gonna pitch additional creative ideas.

  • Great idea. Racking it on to some sort of progression system to evolve would be so nice once those daily quest logs are empty

  • Since it seems that the main obstacle to more cosmetics pet-like is the small space avaible on mobile, they should probably remove one of the two "angle" from the board to make some room: yea, each board will be less detailed since you'll have only one themed corner instead of two but I think that it may be worth it if the new cosmetics are interesting and fun.

  • I like it.. I'd totally buy a Mr Bigglesworth or a Misha pet.. I'd love a Turtle named Mal'ganis too

    no pets in any game have ever been cool looking, or cute, they just sit there and make annoying sounds.

      Well that's the point of cosmetics in every F2P games: getting extra money without giving any kind of gameplay advantage to those willing to pay for them.

      So what alternatives should they offer?  Note that this is a F2P game and, as such, they do need to add in more ways 'to get money'.  They seem to be wanting for things that they can charge that we'd accept.  So, what would that be as they already do hero portraits and card backs?  

      There's not really many things that you can do to monetize a card game cosmetically I think.  Maybe alternative boards? 

  • I'd be all for it, but it would probably cost us a raid tier... er an expansion to utilize the resources to get it implemented.
