Gnomeferatu times 5. Sure it takes a lot longer to come out, but in any match where burning your opponent's cards actually matters, you've got time.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
This will probably be nerfed, not for the minus 5 cards mechanic, but for the simple fact that it's a 6 mana 8/8
Living like that.
Beware of using Lorekeeper Polkelt now. Instead of getting high mana cards, you lost 5 of them.
I kinda happy that this one is not a DH card, but all the same goes for how broken the card is. This is madness.
Knowledge is Power
Dont think so this corrupt cards is like investment ... you need to play 7 cost and then play this card so its basically 8 cost
This is an insane improvement to Renolock in Wild!
Love it, will definitely craft a golden copy before even opening packs.
Imagine Brann Bronzebeard + this!
If on curve, turn 8 burn 5 of your opponent's cards.
Yeah, give me one copy of this right now please.
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
In reno warlock this plus brann or this plus zola to burn 10 of your opponent’s cards makes the matchup against control decks like reno mage and odd warrior much better. Plus you can burn the deck of a dead man’s hand warrior and stop them from going infinite. Plus turn 8 against reno priest or any other combo deck to burn 5 of their cards or turn 10 with brann can destroy one of their combo pieces if you are lucky. The downside is it has anti synergy with void caller and archwitch willow. Maybe it’s worth it to try some new disrupt based reno warlock without as many demons?
After emperor+drakkari you can play:
Brann Bronzebeard->> Tickatus ->> Zola the Gorgon->>Tickatus and burn 20 cards(or 15 if brann doesn't stick next turn)
The problem with a combo like this in warlock is, it'll be pretty late in the game to pull off something like this.
Living like that.
But, I have to point out something like, I love how other class getting a nice legendary card, while Mage and Warlock gets meme card legendary.
I'm looking at you Deck of Lunacy & Deck of Chaos
Knowledge is Power
Massive card for Control/Y'shaarj Warlock. A late-game payoff card that could finally push Control Warlock into viability. Also a potentially strong finisher for aggressive decks, just play it as a 6 mana 8/8. I look forward to TrumpSC and his chat disagreeing over whether or not milling 5 cards is fine.
Brann Bronzebeard and Gnomeferatu just got a new best friend
Compare this to Rin, the First Disciple which was played in some reno warlock decks. This is a lot better, they both come out late but you don’t need to play so many weak cards to get it and you weren’t discarding more than 10 cards with Azari, the Devourer when you got to play him.
For a control warlock, this should be pretty easy to corrupt. You have things like Bloodreaver Gul'dan, N'Zoth, the Corruptor, Voidlord, Despicable Dreadlord, Mal'Ganis, and Twisting Nether. And it wouldn't be very hard to add in a few more high cost cards if you are having a hard time corrupting this. Putting your opponent 5 cards closer to fatigue is huge for a class that draws a lot of cards. And if you are able to kill a combo piece or a big swing play then even better.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
C'mon, any slow deck Will be wrecked at t8 with that card.
By The Holy Light!
So, I'm going to play Warlock when the next expansion hits. Good to know.
First day craft for renolock. This is nuts.
This is really strong, maybe the corrupt should have been both players?
Alright, so this is AMAZING i love it already, and hate the thought of being on the receiving end already! however, i don't think Tickatus is THE "super strong" legendary Corrupt card they were teasing. Well it could be, but i feel like the "super strong" legendary Corrupt card that encourages people to play Y'Shaarj, the Defiler will/would be a neutral legendary... But if this IS the "super strong" legendary corrupt card they have been teasing, then it's completely understandable, because Warlock really needed this powerspike. (Now shaman also needs one.)
Edit: Now that we know all cards, Tickatus IS actually THE "Super Strong" Legendary corrupt card they teased. Well that's understandable, because Tickatus is insane. Warlock really needs this kinda powerfull effect.
Standard: Will 100% see play in some kind of control Y'Shaarj, the Defiler deck. But not just that, but any control warlock deck might as well run it. Your opponent probably doesn't want to play their Lorekeeper Polkelt after you play a 7+ cost minion... Their will be plenty of "oooohhh i just milled their wincon" clips on HS compilation channels like trolden.
Wild: Might see play in some control warlock lists, and maybe cubelock as well. sure the demon tag might hurt the ress pool full of taunts a little bit, but you will generally play Tickatus AFTER your big cards like Bloodreaver Gul'dan, Lord Godfrey, Twisting Nether or a Voidlord, so you can fatigue your opponent faster AND ressing a 8/8 minion isn't that bad, if the otherwise ressed minion would be a 1/3 taunt... Also Tickatus can hard counter Dead Man's Hand warrior by milling their shuffled cards.
I see also some potential with Brann Bronzebeard. But hey, playing this combo makes it so you don't have to include Y'Shaarj, the Defiler into your deck. So that's pretty good for other controllock decks.
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Void contract but with a strong body attached. Maybe enough that combo decks really will have a hard time from now on, but I doubt it. Interesting card, but only useful as tech against maybe mecha'thun, not much else. I think Dirty Rat is better in most cases,
This post is discussing the wild format.
Was planning to make that exact switch as well.
Combine this with the new Y'Shaarj and you can burn 10 cards even in Standard. I'm a little bit worried on the balance side of things, and wouldn't be surprised to see this nerfed eventually. Maybe corrupting it will turn out to be harder than I think.
Mill 5 cards. And then mill another 5.
In Wild, you can just run Rin instead and cut out the middleman if you want to destroy your opponent's deck. In Standard though, just this and Y'Shaarj already burns 10 cards which is pretty good. If your opponent plays Lorekeeper Polkelt, you can now burn 5 (or 10!) late games in their deck. Now when people play Polkelt against Warlock, they'll have to remember that they should draw the card(s) they want first before ending their turn.
And as a 6 mana 8/8 with a non-recurring downside, perhaps some Aggro decks could run it as a not-that-expensive late-game push?
It doesn't work with Archwitch Willow my precious wasted dust :(
Banned for spamming.
Wow, the Corrupt effect is actually much easier to achieve than I would have thought... will see play actually! Considering that Warlock has the best tools to combat aggro right now but no solid win condition, this card could prove to be the one thing that pushes it over the top. Not to mention that this card becomes even better when you consider that it can be tutored with Sense Demons in the deck.
This ain't no place for a hero
This card is ridiculously good. I'm torn. I would love to play this card on my opponent, but I would be unhappy to have it played against me.
It's not a bad card. If you're opponents shuffled a buncha crap in your deck like bombs or pelicans you can use this to chew 'em out.
if not, you can just safely hold onto this to remove your opponents deck by a 1/6 of the deck limit.
Especially good against decks like guardian druid who draws their deck in order to shuffle Ysera's dream portals for their win con
...at the Darkmoon Faire!
-=alfi=-
You forget Zola is also a battlecry card - Maximum 30 cards milled if you are lucky enough (and the opponent shuffled some cards into their deck).
So worst case scenario it's a +1 mana Fel Reaver that triggered twice.. not big deal at all! can totally be played for tempo.. 6 mana is about the last mana cost where stat sort of matter and you can afford to play it.
Decent but whether it finds home is questionable, needs a very specific type of deck.
I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And even though it is impossible I exist. ©Trimutius
Love this card. Corrupting it makes it a strong disruption. Ruin your opponent's C'Thun, the Shattered plan!
It's also a nice body to support a Archwitch Willow as well. Can't wait to run it.
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
6 mana 8/8 that can ruin your opponent remaining deck ?!
YES please
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
Great card that will definitely see play in any slow Warlock deck. You always want to play the Corrupted version of this since it's not that hard to trigger anyway; latest you can play this is on turn 8, which isn't bad considering you're getting an 8/8 demon that shaves off 5 cards from your opponent's deck, all for 6 mana. Not to mention you can get a 0-mana copy of this from Y'Shaarj the Defiler.
One of the best cards in the set, I think. This will be incredibly annoying to play against.
Battlecry: Help your opponent find the uninstall button faster!
Oh the horror...
It's definitely an interesting battlecry, even before the corruption. If (for whatever reason) your deck is full of bombs, you can potentially remove them and still get a big body on board
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
If you are not lucky it became a dead card in your hand until you can corrupt it
god this is good if warlock is meta this expansion
TOTAL CORRUPTION
TOTAL POWAAAAAAA
At some point this will be a nice little centerpiece for a combo deck. But for now, I don't see it.
The major problem here is that you'll need to hold on to this card (which means drawing it), then play something costing more, which in most cases would be Twisting Nether. Sure, you can also play common stuff like [Hearthstone Card (alexstraza) Not Found], or even galakrond himself. But if you're playing a card that cost more than 7, in most cases its either a removal or a win condition. This card doesn't even have taunt, for gods sake. Says alot when this card only starts performing when you're winning.
Of course, the other common problem is that most decks don't ever reach fatigue, so what does 5 cards truly mean in the grand scheme of things? You play this on turn 8, they remove it, then swing board. Then what else?
That's not to say its complete worthless. There's some shenanigans with Felosophy, and you can still discover (and perchance, cheapen) this off Demonic Studies, so this card will never truly be lacking respectability. Certainly a built around. Just don't go hoping it will ever be tier 1.
I love this card!
So far one of my favourites this new expansion. Good fit for Control and Zoo-ish decks. Control will defenitely benefit way more off of this one but i also can see this work for Zoo just because its a 6 Mana 8/8.
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
Looks insane and will most likely be insane when you pull it off burning 5 cards is crazy good
Self proclaimed good at battlegrounds
After having seen all of the cards for the expansion, this is my personal pick for the strongest card in the set. This creates a win condition just with itself and Y'Shaarj, the Defiler. Just send your opponent into fatigue while burning their key cards by playing at least 2 copies of Tickatus throughout the course of the game. Sense Demons can help tutor Tickatus out along with a few other demons to make sure you have this early on in the game. The one challenge with Tickatus is finding the right cards to include to corrupt, but Soulciologist Malicia, Siamat, and Twisting Nether are some good choices to start with. I legit think this could easily become a top tier deck and be one of the first nerf candidates, so watch out!
For glory, honor, and gold!
The uncorrupted version is unplayable. If the wording were "discard top 5 cards" could be played on discolock.
By The Holy Light!
So So SO SO strong. Disruption tool that basically will ruin control v control. I think there's a nerf incoming (cost increase probably).
"Some inspirational quote from some famous person" - Some famous person
Meme card at best, doubt it will see any constructed play in standard or wild.
My plans to craft this card golden were crashed: I received a regular copy as the 1st level reward...
This will certainly be played. This card doesn't have a terribly hard corrupt condition, and if you ever happen to play the demon cost reduction spell for whatever reason, gets even easier.
I like it on paper, but reno lock does fine with brann+gnomeferatu+zola in the matches where this kind of milling is important and you can tempo out gnome if you need.
I like that there is at least one option to play in standard for potentially countering Polkelt decks. Does this card ever get played uncorrupted? It says remove the cards, not discard them so it won't even fit into any mechanics if is played vanilla.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Amazing stats, 6 cost makes it pretty easy to corrupt. I think this card will either be nerfed or be a must enchant
All hail the banshee queen.
You love to see a potential counter for Lorekeeper Polkelt combo decks. On the other hand, you may run this as the top end of an aggressive deck, since you don't care about burning your cards. Then again, why not just run various Giants?
Welcome to the site!
Could really wreck opponents. COULD.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
Even without getting fancy, corrupting and then ripping up 5 cards from your opponent's deck shouldn't be something to sneeze at, especially against Control or Combo decks where this card has the best chance to be corrupted in the first place.
Hey, you heard about that Mario guy?
I'd love to see an alternate text on this card that says: "Corrupt this minion. Then delete the win condition of your opponent and make him concede"
Xbox gamertag - Psymonjet
By far the most interesting card in the expansion, can't wait to try it
OK for slow Warlock decks that want to deny assets from their control opponents. You don't play this without Corrupting it first, because an 8/8 for 6 that otherwise only has downside just doesn't cut it in serious decks.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
So far, this card has been the worst part of the expansion for me. I've been trying some mega high-value control decks for fun and keep running into this. Even though I've beaten every Warlock in the long game, having 10 cards milled (including 3/4 of the old gods) makes the matches incredibly unfun. Powerful card, but I'm not a fan.
do we really have to see this card multiple times in a match?
Time for a big nerf, especially for control players
I'm not online it's just your imagination
Warlock isnt doing to hot standard, neither is ticktatus. And a card that can help beat control/combo is allowed to excist,.
Objectivly is no balance reaosn at all why should be nerfed.
too slow
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
I've been having solid success with a Mill Warlock in Standard. I aim to draw Tickatus with either The Dark Portal or Jepetto Joybuzz, and sometimes copy him with Felosophy. Even at full cost I can corrupt him with Galakrond or Twisting Nether. Then Y'Shaarj, the Defiler comes in for round 2. Deck features tons of removal and healing. Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate for the lolz.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Ugh, I faced a similar deck in standard. My opponent played Dark Portal on 4, Felosophy on 5, then by turn 6 dropped two 1-mana Tickatus to burn 10 cards from my deck. I hated it, but I respected the effort to make my life miserable :D
Having your cards burned definitely feels bad, but so does getting killed on turn 5 by hyper aggro decks, or losing to OTK combos with Malygos, Mecha'thun, etc. If a strategy works and is fun for you, no reason not to use it.
Have a few snowballs, on me!
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
You shouldnt be able to discover it imo, have it in your deck, use it with n'zoth w/e but you shouldn't be able to discover it in a lackey deck and just win a matchup you deserve to lose because of generating this
Living like that.
The card is FINE.
and warlock isnt doing great in standard at all. and the chance to discover is low, and then still have to play a 7drop or higher and only then can play ticktatus. And for a lackey deck its likly they couldve picked someting else and just killed you turns earlier instead of burning cards may not have drawn ever at all.
Only real downsite is, that this isn`t a neutral card. :(
I see you!
Majority of decks (non-aggro ones at least) will run Tickatus if it's a neutral, which will severely hurt control decks in the meta. I'm thankful this isn't a neutral card.
