Achievement Tips/Strategies Sharing

I've seen several threads about specific achievements, but not a dedicated forum for sharing tips and seeking help (perhaps I missed it?). So here goes: If you are looking to share or obtain helpful ideas about the new in-game achievements, here is a place to do so.
I'll start with a PSA: I completed the Demon Hunter one where you need a 10-attack Redeemed Pariah, and I tried to cheat using Abusive Sergeant. It did not work. You need to actually play 8 Outcast cards to buff his attack to 10.
So who else has a tip to share or needs some help?

Here's another tip (sort of...more of a bug notice, really) - I was trying to get Scary-Go-Round with Revolve and Mad Summoner, but one of the units that spawned from the spell was dormant, so I only got credit for 13/14 revolved. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed, but I think the strategy is sound in principle. (EDIT: The next time I got the combo together, it worked fine to complete the achievement.)
Also, I'm pretty sure One Has No Name requires stealing 3 unique enchantments. I tried to pull it off by targeting a Trick Totem in Duels - it had 2x buffs from Grand Totem Eys'or, so I cast Gift of Luminance on it and then played The Nameless One on it. My progress for the achievement is currently 2/3, leading me to believe they have to be unique buffs.
Edit: Just got this to work by playing it on my opponent's Kor'kron Elite in Duels - it had buffs from No Guts, No Glory and Sow the Seeds, so I played Wave of Apathy into The Nameless One. The easiest path forward to getting this achievement is certainly to silence away your own buffs/debuffs. It's also a good way to lose the game, but whatever.
I did it the same way, and ended up winning against a Renolock despite having not much else than the combo and a ton of removal. It was a fun match.
I've also completed the Pariah one, but nearly lost my mental health with it. It's almost like other people are just trying to win on ladder instead of letting me do my quirky combos.
Funny, I was thinking about doing the same thread as you, after my original thread has lost it´s purpose. You can check some tips for completion there too, if you want. For me the easiest way of completion is in the Duels, you can make a deck build aound the specific achievement without any drawback, for example I´ve did Spoilers! simply by running Fortune Teller along with spells only, or made secret only deck for Your Future is Clouded (even if you don´t own Sayge, Seer of Darkmoon, you will get him through your loot).

One more Priest related one that I'm pretty frustrated by - I don't have G'huun the Blood God, so I was trying to complete You're Ghuunna Be Sorry using the Scion of the Deep starting treasure in Duels. Apparently using its effect to pay health instead of mana doesn't trigger achievement progress. I guess that means that for this achievement, there's some practical difference between a cost being permanently converted to health vs. temporarily converted to health.
I should correct this PSA: I believe it needs 10 permanent attack (unlike the temporary buff of Abusive Sergeant). I completed it in Wild using the Lantern of Power from the OG Arch-Thief Rafaam. I would have used other buffs but Demon Hunter is terrible at buffing minions so this seemed like the simplest route. Note it can be done in 1 turn with a single trigger of Emperor Thaurissan.
Minor edit: fixed the spelling of 'Lantern' (the fact I defaulted to lanturn shows I have played too much Pokemon over the years).
While here, I should link to my own PSA on the Forbidden Jutsu achievement: https://outof.cards/forums/hearthstone/hearthstone-general/6702-forbidden-jutsu-psa
That's so much more elegant than chaining Outcasts like I forced it (never succeeded in full combo but one of my opponents finally pitied my pariah and let it live for one turn).
You can do the pariah 10 attack thing in Duels. You need to put the guy that decrease the outcast cards by 1. Then get another copy in the loot buckets.
At turn 8 you can chain the 2 mana outcast treasure infinitely. It's an otk too lol.
What 2 mana outcast treasure? There's the minion that doubles your outcast cards, but he's unique.
<Your Ad Here>
The treasures are the non-collectible cards you get in Duels. Specifically, the card here is Gift of the Legion, which is unlocked if you've collected 20 Scholomance epic cards.
I just completed Mine! Mine! Mine! with a combination of Minefield and Lord Barov. It can misfire if a mine hits Barov, but with a wide enough board the combo works most of the time.
Wild is a great format to complete this one. I took the combo to Wild thinking I'd quickly find an Odd Paladin and just clear their turn 3 or 4 board with Minefield, but I actually didn't encounter one. Thankfully, most of the control decks in Wild (Big Priest, Cubelock, Jade Druid, etc.) build wide boards at some point, so I just stalled until the late game so I could play the combo and complete the achievement. If you don't have Lord Barov, the strategy of waiting for an Odd Paladin and hard mulliganing for Minefield also seems viable.
One useful thing to know is when you´re trying to complete It´s N´Zothing, Really achievement, all you need to do is to summon one Circus Amalgam with N'Zoth, God of the Deep, because he counts for all of the six required minions at once (not sure if it´s a bug, but it worked for me and others in Duels).
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
I'd imagine adding Bloodmage Thalnos to the combo fixes the misfire issue. Then it's only about dodging Divine Shields. Gotta try that one at some point, one of the achievements I'm still missing.
I don't actually think adding Bloodmage Thalnos fixes it - the spell damage modifies the number on the card, so you'd just end up dealing 6 total damage randomly split across all minions rather than 5. Mo'arg Artificer could do the trick, though. (Just be sure to play him before Lord Barov so his HP is 1 also.)
Divine shields are a problem regardless, that's true, but I went into my plan assuming that Odd Paladin wouldn't have shields in the early turns. Maybe wishful thinking on my part, but since I never saw one, I really can't say how likely that is to be true.
I had a great Duels run with Shaman and went 7 wins, but somehow did not complete the "Finish a run with 7 wins" that awards actual XP. Has anyone else had this issue?
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
But 6 damage should be enough, right? You should have only 1-Health minions, Thalnos and Barov on board then. It will kill 5 minions guaranteed since Barov is the only target is could hit twice (if there are enough minions in total, that is).
Yeah, okay - I'm not sure what I was thinking. The achievement only calls for 5 minions to die, so that should work fine.
A tip for Not So Lonely, you can play the outcast cards whether they activate the effect or not.
You need to get Barrow to 1 health. I used Inner Rage
-=alfi=-
Ok, so what's the deal with "Play a Darkmoon Rabbit for 1 mana"? Do you use Jepetto Joybuzz? Is there another way to do this?
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Originally it´s targeted for Warlocks Deck of Chaos, but Jeppeto could be a good replacement. I was "lucky" to get the prior as my free legendary, but I´m sure Jepetto would work just as good. Have no idea about other way to get it done tho.
EDIT: Maybe Paladins Prismatic Lens in Wild?
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
OH YES. I knew I was missing something. Thanks! I have Jepetto, but not the Deck, so I'll give that a try
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
If there's anyone out there who doesn't have either Legendary, you can also complete this with a fairly dopey combo in Hunter: 2x Scarlet Webweaver to reduce the cost to (0), then Mana Wraith to bring the cost of Darkmoon Rabbit back up to (1). I managed to get this to work in two tries on the Wild Ladder (picked Wild because I figured I was more likely to queue into a control opponent) - only ran 2x Scarlet Webweaver and 1x Darkmoon Rabbit to reduce the risk of bad discounts, and included a bunch of card draw including Scavenger's Ingenuity to tutor the combo.
You could reduce the cost of the deck even further with 1x Scarlet Webweaver and some neutral bounce effects like Youthful Brewmaster. That would also remove the risk of ever having one Webweaver reduce the cost of the other, and make the tutoring even better, but it might also make the combo slower in a class not known for its long game.
Any tips for Sun and Moon to Me, where you need to play 6 Lunar or Solar Eclipses in one game? I was thinking something with Elise the Enlightened, when you draw all 4 copies of both Eclipses, but it seems too slow to me. Any other ideas? :/
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
It's meant to be done with Kiri, Chosen of Elune. I was (un)lucky to get the card from packs, so the achievement wasn't that hard.
Elise could work as an alternative, Educated Elekk might also work. You'll need a lot of draw regardless.
I have to admire the ingenuity of the strategy. I had already given up on this one since I didn't get Deck of Chaos. Now I just have to check if I even got the Rabbit or Webweavers...
I'd also like to suggest adding Master's Call for even better draw, in case you didn't have that already.
I don't have Elise so I'm going the Elekk method cause I was lucky to open 2 of them. Also I'm putting Archmage Vargoth in the deck to see if he works in completing the 6 casted eclipses.
Hah, I had totally forgotten about Master's Call. I had a bunch of neutral draw minions like Novice Engineer, so it wouldn't have made sense in my deck anyway. Also, since the combo relied on Mana Wraith, it might end up being less helpful, but I like that thinking! You could maybe do it with Call Pet too (another card I had completely forgotten about).
I completed Sun and Moon to Me with the Elekk. The wording on the achievement "Cast 6 Lunar or Solar Eclipses" has me thinking that it can be completed with just 2 copies of each spell. All that is needed is 4 mana (3 with coin), play Solar Eclipse then play Lunar Eclipse which should count as 3 casts then repeat when you get both in hand again.
I´ve already tried that, but just playing 4 Eclipses doesn´t work, casting the second copy of Lunar Eclipse through Solar Eclipse sadly doesn´t count for completion, it only counts two. Same thing when you get the Duels treasure that casts your first spell twice. You need to PLAY all 6 copies, the wording on the achievement is wrong.
I´ve managed to complete the achievement in Duels, when I was offered Kiri, Chosen of Elune along with two other Eclipses in one of my loot buckets (I had two already in my starting deck).

Took a while but managed to do it, thanks for the tip.
It felt amazing and bad at the same time, as I somehow managed to take control against an aggro druid and would've won the match, but an achievement hunter must do what an achievement hunter must do. I had plenty of minions on board and I rotated the giant as the only minion of my opponent while having 8 health and counter lethal on board for next turn. My opponent took their chance, I got the achievement pop-up even before seeing any arrows indicating an attack.
I just managed to finally assemble the combo and play it (after losing quite a few games), and rather than attack me, my opponent just used their own removal spells on the giant.....I'm pretty sure my opponent was playing for the Cascading Disaster achievement (they thanked after playing one for three kills), making me all the more annoyed that they didn't attack. Seems like it could have been a mutually beneficial game.
EDIT: I managed to complete this, but not with the full combo. I eventually found an Odd Paladin, stalled a ton, and gave them an Arcane Giant with Silas Darkmoon and played Shadow Clone. They could have attacked with a buffed Silver Hand Recruit for lethal and denied me the achievement, but they didn't. Despite dying when they attacked, the secret still triggered and I still got the achievement.
Just another PSA: if you Maxima a Tonk into your opponent's face and the deathrattle kills them, it does NOT count for that achievement. They need to be killed by the initial impact.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Yeah it's always pretty annoying when you are clearly messing around but the opponent gets suspicious and thinks you have some master plan that will ruin them, so they do the opposite of what you need them to.
Yesterday I forced the 'Yogg, take the wheel' achievement with a Demon Hunter decks that had nothing but removal, card draw, Yogg, Blur and an Eater of Secrets to clear off any possible Ice Blocks or Evasions (I did it in Wild so there was less aggro). The plan was simple: stall to play Blur and Yogg into Rod of Roasting for a guaranteed OTK (5% of the time). There was no point in me attacking the opponent so I never did, yet they still sometimes conceded just before I could play Yogg :(
For anyone daunted by needing to summon a whopping 200 Greyboughs, I managed it in a few hours earlier with this deck:
It not a cheap deck, but if you have the pieces it is well worth trying it out. It was the most fun I have had playing druid in a long long time, and can gladly say Elise the Enlightened was an absolute star, doubling key pieces meaning you can press through several waves of board clears. I had a mammoth game against a Big Priest that ended up summoning 99(!) Greyboughs, where we both went down to fatigue after shuffling lots of cards into our decks (2 Psychic Screams, several Excavated Evils, and a ton of resurrected Reliquary of Souls). It truly was a game of the unstoppable force vs the immovable object.
I know I might come a bit late but I'm pretty sure the quest name is misleading. I think the achievement only progresses by playing G'huun, you don't even need to be playing as Priest as I have discovered it a couple of times from Dragon's Hoard and the quest DID progress. Bloodbloom doesn't work either and probably neither does Cho'gall or that one Murloc.
Wow, cool info, I´ve never thought of that possibility. I´ve already stopped hoping to complete this achievement. Thanks for heads up :)
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
I'm not sure if mentioned somewhere already, but doubling C'Thun's battlecry with Shaman quest reward won't count towards the "kill from full health" quest. Learned it the hard way...
Probably should've guessed it.
Thanks for the idea of using the Duels! I was loosing matches at D5 like crazy.
Then I'm doubly happy to have just helped out a Shaman who was planning on doing it that way, but didn't have to after I left my board empty.
Does anyone know if the 'YoggChamp' achievement can be fulfilled by killing you as well as your opponent? It only says "deal lethal damage". If anyone has any good ideas of how to rig it I'd love to hear them. At the moment it looks like the toughest one to do since you really have no control at all aside from putting the opponent as very low health and praying.
I just had a really weird game against Priest where I had Baron Rivendare and a board full of Greyboughs and the opponent cast Soul Mirror, so until the end of the game we just attacked our Greyboughs - my achievment jumped from 23 to 124 summoned ones.
-=alfi=-
That's great! I wish more people were cooperative with the achievements, especially if they're obvious. Most of the time even if you don't hit face when you could people just abuse it and smorc like their life depends on it.
This is my take on "No Pathetic Cards", kill opponent with C'Thun from full health. The idea is to cycle through the deck, playing spells that counter the opponents game (lots of aoe). Once C'Thun is in your deck, play Jepetto. You will get a 1mana C'Thun. Next turn you have 9 mana to deal with the opponents board and heal him, if need be, with witches brew. Worked for me on the 3rd try. Have fun!

The CerberusBT deck for No Pathetic Cards worked like a charm for me (I made two minor changes - swapped one Plague of Murlocs for Maelstrom Portal because I only had one copy, and swapped one Kobold Stickyfinger for Harrison Jones).
My first game was against a C'Thun Druid that easily racked up tons of armor and beat me, but I got the achievement in the next game when I went up against a Big Priest. I could imagine making a couple of adjustments if you're encountering a ton of Odd Paladin on ladder, but this makes a lot of sense for countering most Wild control decks. No idea what you'd do to make this work if you find yourself against a Control deck in an armor class. It's hard to have enough pressure without compromising the AOE you need for most other decks (and the achievement in general, to ensure there's no opposing board).
Dear Warlock player I just lost to 10 minutes ago,
You had the game, and there was no way I could have won. Plus, we're at Bronze 10. On the off chance that my secret was Shadow Clone and I was achievement hunting, do you think you could have attacked with Y'Shaarj, the Defiler first, and Tickatus second? You even had a Cascading Disaster to remove whatever stealthed minion I got from it. Come on, why not give a fellow player a helping hand that costs you literally nothing? You suck.
Love,
Pezman
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
I had 2 great opportunities to finish the No Pathetic Cards achievement which is very challenging to set up and in both cases my opponent chooses to concede instead. All other games in between were just mission impossible cause they are simply overpowered, but hey Blizzard decided that this should be done in ranked mode, so thanks a lot for wasting my time!
I had this same problem with the one that has you destroy your opponent with fatigue. (That one's not worth XP, so there have been no posts about it, but it's common for opponents to concede instead of let you get it.)
It definitely feels like the HS playerbase needs to be a bit more achievement-friendly when they see their opponent is trying a wacky "just for the achievements" combo.
I think it is best to just let some of them happen naturally. Sooner or later you'll kill someone through fatigue without trying. I'm certainly resigned to that approach with the one that requires you to get lethal with Oh My Yogg!, because setting up all of:
is just way too much hassle. I even thought of using Millhouse Manastorm because Raise Dead is just about the most reliable way to do it, so forcing a 0-mana spell seems helpful. But if you are ever resorting to using Millhouse you should probably just give up.
At least I really like that secret I guess.
There´s something I´ve learned by playing Casual Duels that might be helpful to those of us missing quite a bunch of new legendaries/epics required for the achievement completion. You can force out some of the required cards in buckets by building a specific deck. For example:
Mage: make a spell heavy build and you can get Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate in your buckets. More so, if you make secret heavy deck, you will get Sayge, Seer of Darkmoon along with Occult Conjurer. Set it up with Duplicate and you got the achievement done without actually owning the cards.
Rogue: make a deck with all possible shuffles like Ticket Master and you will be offered Grand Empress Shek'zara through you loot.
Warrior: make a deck with all the rush minions and you weill get E.T.C., God of Metal along with Tent Trasher, and when you´re lucky, you can even get N'Zoth, God of the Deep through the menagerie bucket and complete It´s N´Zothing, Really achievement at once.
*Druid: there were suggestions to make a taunt heavy deck to get Greybough with your loot, but I´ve managed to get him only once, so I can´t really confirm this (still trying to test this). But when you make spell heavy deck with Eclipses, you can get a loot bucket with Kiri, Chosen of Elune along with two other Eclipses, so you can do the Sun and Moon to Me achievement quite easily, plus often you´ll get Guess the Weight as an option too.
Other good call is to choose Priests second treasure, where you can discover two corrupt cards and corrupt them. This way I was able to get Carnival Clown and make the Coulrophobia achievement without owning the card.
Still trying to find a way to force Il'gynoth (lifesteal heavy deck?), G'huun the Blood God (some heavy spell/healing deck?) and High Exarch Yrel (force some pure version of paladin?).
Hopefully this helps someone :) Happy achievement hunt all and good luck!
*EDIT: I can confirm that you can get Greybough through your loot by running all possible Taunts with deathrattle in your starting deck and/or choosing Natural Defense buckets (worked for me 7/10 times).
Also, you will get Lothraxion the Redeemed if you build you Paladin deck around Silver Hand recruits with starting Hero power and matching Treasure.
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
Do the buckets actually work that way? I tried this by building DH around lifesteal and never got offered Il'gynoth a single time. Went like 7 or 8 rounds, I think.
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
These are great! I've also tried to force getting Il'gynoth and had no luck with it. Same with G'huun the Blood God - not convinced he can be forced. I did accidentally make progress on Il'gynoth by getting him from Auspicious Spirits, but it wasn't even enough to get the first rank in the achievement, and that's certainly not a consistent way to go.
I happened to get High Exarch Yrel as one of my free legendaries, and put her into a Duels starting Pure Paladin deck to see if I could get more of her. The game did consistently give me at least one bucket with only Paladin cards, but ultimately she became deactivated when I was forced to pick a treasure card (they're all neutral...). Given that limitation on Pure Paladin decks in Duels, I doubt she'll show up in any buckets.
I finally got the most frustrating No Pathetic Cards achievement using this deck (guide included) in Standard:
The satisfaction level was almost like reaching Legend for the very first time! 😂
I just got Myra's Unstable Empress in Duels by building a deck that shuffled cards in and eventually pulling Grand Empress Shek'zara. It may be worth noting to folks that it doesn't matter if you burn the cards you're drawing. I had a near full hand, discovered Plush Bear (I had six copies in the deck), drew the first, which drew a card, then the rest burned because my hand was full. Despite that, I still got the achievement.
We ll it worked for me pretty consistently with the said strategy. For ex. when I made different deck at the begining for warrior with random cards, it never offered me E.T.C., God of Metal. But when I tried to build a deck around rush minions, suddenly there was always a choice to pick him up from bucket, sooner or later, sometimes even twice. It´s worth the try.
As I wrote before, not sure about the Il'gynoth as I didn´t find a way to force him to my picks yet :/
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
Glad it worked for you :)
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
So @viczone and I managed to set up the YoggChamp achievement (which requires getting lethal with Oh My Yogg!) via the following steps:
Having done all of this nonsense, I actually think it was my favourite achievement by far. Is it stupidly unlikely to happen naturally? Yes. Is it stupidly difficult to set up? Yes. Do I feel like I really earned it? My goodness yes! It truly was an achievement to be proud of.
The priest achievement You Ghuuna be sorry (spend 100 life as priest on cards) can, surprisingly, completed with Seadevil Stinger in wild in murloc Warlock deck.
-=alfi=-
That's a really great find - given how many cards don't work (Bloodbloom, Scion of the Deep, Cho'gall), I would have never even bothered to try Seadevil Stinger.
It potentially is a bug that Seadevil works where the other cards didn't or its another case where the description of the achievement is misleading & we need to play minions (not spells) to get it to count as progress.
***********************************
*EDIT*
The description states "Spend 100 Health to play cards as a Priest".
Maybe it is counting Seadevil/Warlock because of the Scholomance Academy duel class cards.
Further research into duel class led me to see that Seadevil is from the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan set; the set that introduced tri-classes along with The Kabal.
Bloodbloom is from Un'Goro & Cho'gall is from Old Golds. Of course they didn't count towards the achievement.
Other good thing to know is when you´re fishing for the Not So Lonely achievement, that the temporary buffs on the Redeemed Pariah like Abusive Sergeant don´t work, because you will lose the buff at the end of the turn, BUT if you manage to end the game with buffed Redeemed Pariah to 10 or more attack with any buffing source, by winning or with conceding on your turn, you will get the achievement done. Costed me lots or nerves and time to figure it out and finally achieve it. Hope it helps someone else too :)
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
So today I finally finished all achievments (except the Yogg secret kill which is nearly impossible to set up) the 500 corrupt cards played being the last one.
-=alfi=-
Wow! I am super impressed! Good luck on the Yogg one, seems really hard to get such a random effect
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
What is the total exp you can gain from achivements?
1480
Edited: 14 800 XP
-=alfi=-
That can't be right. Did you include some that had multiple tiers (like "Deal 50 damage with Tonk" then becomes "Deal 100 damage with Tonk" for example)? If it's really only 1480 all together, that's pretty crappy
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Well each class has 2*100+500+2*200 = 1100, so it is certainly higher than 1480. 14800>10*1100 sounds plausible though.
My bad - it is 14 800 XP - one zero was missing. The value is without battle pass bonus exp.
Source from Blizzard:
-=alfi=-
Ok, now we're talking! Thanks guys for this useful info, and congrats again to Alfi for winning all that juicy XP! May Yogg smile on you my friend!
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
I actually got it by building a deck with as many outcast cards I as I could put in. The deck was crap for winning, but I just wanted the achievement. The hardest part was waiting for the correct card draw to come up. I was astonished to find that I had actually got a few wins even though all I was trying to do was stack outcast cards in my hand long enough into the game to unleash as many upgrades as possible in one turn and hope I could push for the 10-attack on the following turn. It took about 20 games, but I did it. Some peeps even quit before I could push above 10-attack which was really frustrating.
