with november / december free packs it should be possible to have all common / rare without purchasing packs I assume ...

So far the only information is that there will be no legendaries.
Where is this info from?

I don't think anything like this was ever said, but I can guess at why you might think that. In the original announcement videos for Darkmoon Faire, they said that thanks to the miniset, you'd be able to do the Collect 135 Darkmoon Faire cards achievement without collecting a single legendary card (this is the one that gets you the custom art for the coin).
It would be easy to misconstrue that as "the miniset has no legendaries," but since there are 25 legendaries in the set today, this would only imply that no fewer than 25 of the miniset cards are less than legendary rarity to make up that difference. That still leaves as many as 10 new cards that could be legendary. That seems high, though. I expect it will look more like 4 or 5 to closely mirror the rarity distribution from the Galakrond's Awakening miniset (15 common, 12 rare, 4 epic, and 4 legendary for a total of 35).
the Galakrond awakening is a good example
So we can expect 3 cards x class (randomly common/ rare/ epic/ legendary) and 5 common (or maybe one or two more for DH) with the 15/12/4/4 distribution.
As a conclusion the dozen of decks that we will have for free at that time will be more than enough to get all the common / rare and hopefully a couple of Epics
Tks

Its probably going to be somewhere around early Jan 2021. Most adventures, and even Galakrond's awakening, starts about 2 months into an expansion. It is after all a midexpansion.
hmm maybe. I don't remember where I got that from but I could have sworn one of those devs said there will be no legendaries in response to the cost of the game complaints.
Holy shit then, if there is really is legendaries. This game is fucked lol.
if they want to make money with the mini expansion there should be a few Legendaries :)

To anyone reading this: how have you strategised your pack opening? So far I've opened just enough to get all the rares. I'm holding back in case there are more desirable legendaries or epics in the mini expansion. Am I overthinking this; it feels stifling not opening all my packs immediately.
I’m still sitting on 70 packs, feels pretty shitty.....
Twitch for those of you who care.
Is this mini-set for sure going to roll out in regular Darkmoon Faire packs? Maybe that was mentioned somewhere and I missed it. Just curious about the confirmation.
70 is surely overkill. I don't know exactly how many rares there will be, but if it has the same number as Galakrond's Awakening (12) you'd be pretty much guaranteed to get all the commons and rares in 24 packs.
In the end you (probably) won't be able to control whether you get new epics / legendaries, so there doesn't seem much point in holding onto more than 24 packs unless you already have nearly all the high rarity cards.
I dont even think they said it wouldnt even be a PvE where you have to pay money for it and have cards you cant craft like gala awakening
Living like that.
I'm pretty certain they said the cards would be added to the normal DMF packs. I don't remember exactly where the devs said it, but there is no way people would be thinking that if the devs hadn't, simply because that's not something we would expect otherwise.
I did the same as you with my initial DMF pack opening. I did just enough to get the commons and rares, which netted me 4 legendary and 10 epic cards. I've saved my ladder rewards packs from December, will be saving the five compensation packs, and will be saving the January ladder rewards to hopeully fill the commons and rares from the min-expansion. I do have some gold remaining that I did not spend on this expansion to buy a few more packs if I end up close to the pity timer or just need another one or two to finish things off. I"m trying not to spend any gold that was acquired from the rewards track so that I know exactly what my income has been when it comes to the next full expansion.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Pretty sure it will be released mid January, now the distribution of cards I won't dare to speculate but I'm 100% certain that not only they will shake the meta, but there will be at least 10 cards that would be must craft (most likely Epics or Legendaries if there are)...
The same as Galakrond's they need to sell and they need to shake things up because the hype of a new expansion dies exactly after 2 months of experimenting/playing, and I mean that as a wild player, where actually, got to try 1 new deck and just a few tweaks to Highlander Priest and Odd Pally, so... Stale meta (and heard standard is the same with DH...)
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
actually this expansion had lot of expectations, but very little impact. Most of Meta decks have very little (almost none) epic/ legendary of the new expansion ... So let's see if new cards will improve the impact of the expansion...

LOL may RNGesus reward you for your legendary willpower.
Thanks for the responses. For better or worse, there haven't been many epics/legendaries that captured my imagination, so I'm kinda OK holding out for a (slightly) better chance of something more interesting when the mini expansion releases. It does put a damper on pack-opening day though; here's hoping that Blizzard will take note and revert to something more akin to Galakrond's Awakening for introducing small sets. Heck, it doesn't even need to be packaged in an adventure; just straight up offer the cards for a fixed cost.
