I mean its solid and could be good. That said its definitely pushing a slower game plan and those are at a point where I've given up on them in hunter. It could be used as a method to draw spells to blast the face with though if nothing else. Like Arcane Shot or Quick Shot or whatever else.
good draw but where you want to play it. only combo isn't good
This card doesn't really feel like a hunter card. The art, sure. But the effect is more mage/rogue/DH IMHO
Disclaimer: if the above is factually incorrect or complete rubbish it is definitely both intentional and comedy genius.
Oooo conditional spell draw for hunter AND the potential to draw 3 spells? 😱 well now, looks like that hunter limitation is no longer a limitation. Luckily Kill Command won't be around anymore
TREMBLE before.... the most legendary dragon that ever existed!
Card draw is suposed to be the weakness of hunter, but now have Scavenger's Ingenuity, improved Tracking, Barak Kodobane.
It's not good as Druid card draw, but it's a good support.
About the card, tutoring multiple cards it's really good, spell based decks for hunter was good at K&C meta, we will see more support for that archetype for sure.
By The Holy Light!
Lets see what support this gets.
Banned for spamming.
We have lock and load so maybe spell hunter or secret hunter may return ,the cards are there we just need some glue as you say to stick it .Also control hunter is trying to walk again or for the first time.
Draw engine for the class that needs it the most, that's just great. A secret, a Petting Zoo and some cheap spell like Adorable Infestation is just great to get in hand. A little slow to be played on curve but great to refill your hand.
Spell Hunter is back? Let's see.
OBLIVION!
Okay, so having draw in Hunter is usually a good thing, but this is a 5-mana 3/5 that does nothing for tempo.
We've had this card in Un'goro already and it was way too slow.
Granted, we have no idea what kinds of spells we'll get in this expansion but in order to justify this I'm gonna need some good reasons.
Hunter is desperate for card draw....but not that desperate
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Tutoring 3 cards is strong, but we'll have to see how much support this gets.
Card draw for hunter is always good. Fits in any hunter deck, will see play.
Man i hate centaurs
I've been here a while; just hanging out in the background.
Splee hunter confirmed?
Probably won't see play
I hoped to see some support for my favourite Teacher Professor Slate but I'm still not convinced that it is his time to shine. Let's see what spells hunters get!
Hunter draw, but feels too weak to be playable
too slow
I am 69 years old and still reach Legend
My instincts say this won't see play. Then again you can decide what those 3 cards are when building your deck, and such specific tutors can turn out to be stronger than they seem. I'm prepared to be wrong.
This cards fills in the biggest weakness of hunter. On top of that, it’s specific draw. Will definitely see play at some point!
Winner winner chicken dinner
Card draw in hunter ? Won't be surprised if it's included in all Hunter decks at launch, this card seems very flexible.
The card is good... for any class except dh and hunter.
Murlocs <3
maybe would work in wild where spell hunter is possible
Card has an amazing effect but in my opinion seems a little bit "expensive" being legendary. Of course if it was an epic card having two of them in your deck will be an op card but anyway I think that the card itself is pretty expensive if we speak about a legendary card spot in hunter.
Xbox gamertag - Psymonjet
Well, the card draw effect is really cool but maybe it's a little slow for hunter standard. However it can fit in a face hunter to draw 3 damage spell in my opinion and add a "finisher" to that deck
Really like the design, it has two years to find a deck. Centaurs are great!
This could turn out to be pretty good - depending on what kind of spells we will get with the Expansion.
Defenitely has potential!
Challenge me ... when you're ready to duel a god!
I think this one could be crazy in wild and standar. Card Draw like this in hunter is Sth they do not tend to have
Lemushki - The one and only since the 2006 rebranding.
I don't think it'll see play, but I mean, its tutor, which means its heavily reliant on those 3 slots. There might be some insane broken combo that comes out, or it might just be enough to finish off for aggro, who knows.
5 mana draw 3 with soft/hard tutor.
Even better for a combo based hunter, draw tracking a secret and... somethingsomething.
Papa Nurgle wants to share his gifts.
A certain Professor is amused by this support. Draw 3 specific cards in Hunter is CRAZY good!
I see that a lot of people here miss the secret power of this card, which is that you can immediately play all cards drawn by Barak if you play it on curve.
I eat your fast food spare changes when you sleep.
Slow hunter card. New spell archetype? Don't think so. We will see others cards
Not a great card in a general sense, but Hunter has almost always lacked decent draw. This could be useful, I just don't know in what deck yet,
"Be excellent to each other." -Bill and Ted
Any card that draws 3 specific card is nearly broken. So 5 stars for me.
-=alfi=-
A bit expensive and no board impact, but i guess it will be included in some combo/burn decks.
Maybe in a midrange hunter?
Ringmaster Whatley doesn't see meaningful play, and I'd argue it's a better card as it can draw more impactful cards on the board and is in a class that is less punished by a loss of tempo. That being said, Spells are naturally faster cards than tribal minions, and you can play all spells on your next turn, so Barack ObamaBarak Kodobane has that going for him.
Plus, you know, Lock and Load.
Rating cards on coolness factor rather than predicting power because I like screwing up rating averages (and because I suck at predicting real power levels, but we'll ignore that LUL)
Wins per class (2/6/22): DH-197; Druid-996; Hunter-91«60; Mage-1056; Paladin-1126; Priest-746; Rogue-961; Shaman-1095; Warlock-871; Warrior-906
Reminded me of Ringmaster Whatley - who never really saw much play, and this one is kind of slow and sadly does not seem like it will see any play.
which implies that there are cards you'd want to play on turn 6...which there aren't.
As it stands this is just worse than Polkelt, because at least that guy lets me play a Highmane on curve guaranteed
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
I guess it can be used to draw your finishers and use the on turn 6, it depends on spells we get
Something new for Hunter, I guess.
Chumbawumba is the worst band name.
I don't know how to assess this card.
On the one hand, tutoring specific things from your deck is never a bad thing, especially since Hunter does have access to quite a few cheap spells.
On the other hand, what could you accomplish with this specific tutor? I don't think the effect is specific enough to warrant playing this in an aggro / midrange Hunter, but it could see some play in slower Deathrattle builds, especially to draw out Nine Lives in Wild or even a cheeky Carrion Studies.
Started playing HS in May, 2015. The bad news: I missed the excitement of 'Naxx out?' and GvG. The good news: I never met an Undertaker.
More spell synergy and certainly a good card if you're going the Lock and Load route.
But there really needs to be better 2 cost and 3 cost spells to make this one really powerful. Still, being able to draw for 3 on 5 isn't really that bad, and this is hunter we're talking about. Any card that enables draw at all in hunter gets an automatic consideration at very least.
Seems solid
So the concept is cool and all, any time you can tutor specific cards to draw the potential to do fun things will be there. I just fail to see where this benefits Hunter. I'll admit to not having all the cards at hand right now to see what spells are in those slots, but I'm not sure what this is supposed to set up.
Unfortunately, common sense isn't as common as it should be.
Card draw in hunter. Should be good, shaman spirit was pretty good
I am envoy from nowhere in nowhere. Nobody and nothing have sent me. And even though it is impossible I exist. ©Trimutius
Interesting effect for Hunter, we still need to what new spells the class is getting. Could enable some combo plays, but overall drawing/tutoring cards is always good.
I also don't get the flavor of this card. What does that effect have to do with the character? Is that related to what he did in WoW or something
Going to be a staple in almost any hunter deck as they needed a draw mechanic
Seems underwhelming
Rogue DH
If hunter has a top-tier deck, this card will be a part of it:
Hunter needs draw but not this kind of draw. We need some very powerful 1, 2 and 3 cost spells to make it viable. Right now it's definitely a meh card.
I hope this card has useless cards soon
Seems like an interesting card, let's see the must important cards hunter can tutor with it:
3 cost: Deadly Shot and Petting Zoo.
2 Cost: All secrets, Don't Feed the Animals, Quick Shot and [Hearthstone Card (Scavenger's Engenuity) Not Found].
1 Cost: Demon Companion, Overwhelm, Tracking, Resizing Pouch and the most interesting option: Lock and Load.
It's also VERY interesting that it tutors a 1, 2 and 3 cost card, because 1+2+3=6, meaning that you can play all 3 tutorred spells in a row on turn 6 after a turn 5 Barak Kodobane. The 3 cost spell pool is quite... low on cards right now, but i feel like were going to probably see a new 3 cost spell this expansion. Also i guess Barak Kodobane is one of the few reasons Animal Companion rotated? hunter has always had trouble with drawing cards, and Barak Kodobane helps out a lot with overcoming that weakness. I'm also 100% sure we will get even more support for this during fellowing card reveals.
I think it will see play in midrange/OTK hunter decks in order to draw removal, and i think it will also see play in Secret Hunter in order to Lock and Load + secret + Petting Zoo the turn after. Barak Kodobane will be a very versatile card in a lot of slower hunter deck going forward. (Good thing the hunter Core Set already hinted towards a slower midrange/control style of hunter.)
RNG is only fun as long as there is a 50/50 chance of getting something really good or trash level of bad. If RNG always results in something good, then it's not fun.
Too early to say just how good it will be. Very card-pool and meta dependent. I'm hopeful!
A meeh card, imo too expensive
I'm not online it's just your imagination
Seems good - there are already a lot of good 1- and 2-cost spells available in Year of the Gryphon
Maybe for Secret Hunter, but still too slow.
Kinda slow, maybe at 3 mana could have devastating potential.
I really dont like legendaries that all they do is drawing cards like this. Curator, Ringmaster Whatley, Countess Ashmore. they dont feel legendary enough for me. they may be good cards, but I dont like them still.
It tutors 3 cards in a class that usually struggles for card draw. Why wouldn't this be played?
Carrion, my wayward grub.
ok now we need good 1 2 3 cost spells
because playing a 3/5 that does nothing in a class that is terrible at recovery is a death sentence.
Like, imagine having to play this into Jandice Barov, or an Aldor Thruthseeker + Libram.
This thing just loses you so much tempo while the cards it draws will barely help you stabilize unless you also have Professor Slate in hand.
This is way too slow for Hunter. The Curator days are over, card draw needs to be cheap or tempo oriented or else it just doesn't work for non-control decks.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Can't say no to card draw. 5 mana draw three cards that can be immediately played next turn looks strong
I can see it in a burn or combo Hunter, though there are not enough cards to support this right now. Still 4 stars since the card is good and can see play for the mentioned in wild.
3 for a 2/3 with that effect would help Hunter. This feels like stretching for the class
Very useful as hunters excel in cheap spells! And a directed draw can never go wrong!
RIP to rotating Spell Damage Hunter, but there are still some pretty strong cards to tutor with this! Some immediate thoughts are Tracking + Quick Shot or Petting Zoo + any Secret.
Has potential, just because of the card draw aspect, but as many have pointed out, this may be too slow. Will need to re-evaluate when all available spells are known to see if it overcome being a slower card.
Neat idea. Probably still just draw and smorc, as hunters do. Could be pretty good if the spell support is there.
The stats make this card feel bad but if you compare it to Nourish it starts to look quite good.
Everyone complains that Hunter doesn't get enough card draw. They give you very strong targeted card draw and you don't know what to do with it.
This is a great card, and it will definitely see play. You can guarantee that it draws Tracking, Scavenger's Ingenuity, and Deadly Shot. That is a hugely powerful turn, considering all the combos Scavenger's Ingenuity enables.
interesting card. hunter is lacking draw but i'm not sure if this is it
Fair enough. I am just excite to see a hunter card that just draws you cards without any conditions or setup.
Carrion, my wayward grub.
Can´t decide if it´s good or bad. Card draw is always good, but play 5 mana, pass isn´t.
♡ u 4ever 2008 - 2022
I'm usually happy to see card draw for Hunter, but I'm not sure it'll be useful enough. Will we really see Spell Hunter again?
Really good draw card for hunter and the 3 spells drawn can be casted on next turn
This card isn't bad. How good it ends up being depends on if hunters get any great 1,2, or 3 cost spells.
Great card with good stats and drawing abilities will be too slow for more aggro style decks
I guess this might be decent in a more spell focused hunter deck. Plenty of good spells at all 3 costs, and you can avoid getting trash by not putting trash in your deck.
Specific draw for hunter count me in!
I don't know about this one. Which spells would you want to tutor?
Demon Companion, Tame Beast (Rank 2), and Animal Companion?
On the Hunt, Quick Shot, and Kill Command?
So slow, so awkward in Spell Hunter decks. Secret decks looks better.
Card draw was supposed to be one of the weaknesses of Hunter. Feels misplaced
English is not my native language, so please excuse occasional mistakes
Draw/Tutor. Could be playable, depends on other cards.
Drawing 3 cards off of a 5 mana 3/5 body is pretty good. Drawing 3 cards is worth at least 3 mana perhaps more when it tutors for more specific cards, so if you draw the max spells, you are basically getting a 3/5 body for only 2 mana.
Ribbit
This looks strong in a deck built for it.
Powerlevel overall with depend on the spells printed for Hunter, but a 3/5 body for 5 and draw 3 tutored spells is pretty good.
Many good hunter spells in the 1, 2, 3 category. Artwork is trash!!!
In combination with Kolkar Pack Runner, not a bad card. Good draw, which hunter rarely gets so I'm intrigued.
4 Mana 7/7
Maybe the right selection of (1), (2) and (3) Cost spell haven't been fully revealed - seems kinda clunky, but what the heck do I know
Struggle with Heroic Galakrond's Awakening? I got your back :
This card looks pretty good at first glance, but then I remembered that Tol'vir Warden existed and wasn't good. Granted this does draw an extra card, and those cards will likely be better for your current situation and can allow for some interesting combo plays.
It has potential, but I am a bit skeptical about this one.
I'm sorry but I'm disappointed. 5 Mana do nothing has to offer a big pay off to be worth the risk and drawing cheap spells doesn't qualify in my books. The only constructive idea I have would be to tutor Bola Shot for a Professor Slate combo to regain the board. You need to have draw both legendarys in the first place to do this, though. Let's hope there's more to this down the reveal queue.
I notice I am confused. Something I believe isn't true. How do I know what I think I know?
Harry James Potter-Evans-Verres, hpmor.com
I think it's better than Ringmaster Whatley. Whatley only slots into menagerie decks, while all(?) hunter decks use cheap spells so it's naturally more versatile. That being said, hunter is definitely notorious for being bad in the non-smorc strategies.
Say what you want, but I'm glad the class is expanding beyond pure aggro, and not just with one broken card.
I’m pretty excited to see this playout.
The Forgotten Wilds - Druid
It seems too fair to see play in today's constructive format, which is crazy to think about a 5 mana 3/5: Draw 3
Oh, yes!
Don't know how good it'll be (though Tutors are always at least decent), but I'll definitely try this and Kolkar Pack Runner in Lock and Load Hunter with the new Yogg!
ArtStation | Twitter
I wonder, how it will fit in a Spell Hunter. Anyway, 3 cards draw and 3/5 body seems quite good.
Is Spell Hunter finally going to happen?
are there even good 2 or 3 mana spells for hunter?
Bad stats but draw 3 cards? Not bad
We're bringing back spell hunter in a big way. Especially with the unnerfed/buffed core set cards this looks very nice to play. i.e. tracking.
At this point I have spent too much money on these games to quit.
Now pass me another pack, and lets see what I pull.
much needed hunter card draw
I mean, ringmaster didn't see any play... but hunter doesn't have much card draw so we'll see
good card
Kenny's little poet. 😇
Thsi is the card that will probably be broken at some point of the game, but not now
Brick by brick, spell Hunter could be a thing. I can't not like card draw for Hunter. Excited to try this one out one day.
Draw is good.
Draw engine for the class that needs it the most, that's just great.
But kinda feels too weak.
It's just preparing turn 6 with lock and load, but don't seem so strong, just good
For The HORDE!
Too slow but better tha. Maxima Blastenheimer
You know what I just realised...There's only two 3-cost spells in Standards with the release of FitB.
Deadly Shot and Petting Zoo
Both of them are decent spells but jesus, this card just got even worse.
I tried having fun once.
It was awful.
Value hunter confirmed
so much value wow but not really hunter's playstyle tbh. Will be interesting to try this out
They didn't print any new 3 mana spells for this card. That's funny. Seems that hunter was completely neglected in the expansion.
In Standard, the only 3 mana spells are going to be Deadly Shot and Petting Zoo, meaning you kinda have to play a Secret Hunter for Barak to make sense. In Wild, I think this could be a good addition to Highlander decks.
Arena > Wild > Standard
nice draw
A lot of people forget the Kodobane, but I think it's important. This could be a nice little card draw for Spell Hunter, but it feels too expensive to see play.
I don't want to cure cancer; I want to turn people into dinosaurs.
Good stats, but don't think it'll see much play. Shame, since it looks really cool!
Fine, but why? Too slow for this meta, for hunter.
If you use it as intended, it summons rush minions! And if you use it in a slightly more interesting fashion... Lock and Load and some of its friends, teehee.
My name is Barack Okodobane and I am once again asking for your support.
Better call Thrall!
Love it, works in most archetypes
For me its one to craft
it feels like it should be good value, but I don't think it's good enough. def not worth crafting, but i wont be eager to disenchant
draw is good, but still not excited about the card
Bad body, effect's not strong enough too. 2 stars.
Seems strong. Draws/deck thinner. Synergy with Mankrik's wife.
Seems like a good way to either pull lethal or clear out low-cost cards for better late-game draws.
~ An expertly disguised dinosaur
Spell Hunter with Lock and Load? I don't see it myself, but the effect is so weird to see on a Hunter card that I almost feel challenged into making it work.
Welcome to the site!
Card draw in hunter is nice, but the fact that it's somewhat targeted could be good or bad. At the very least it helps thin out the deck, which in the late game could be a godsend, even if the cards that it actually draws aren't all that amazing.
Hunter draw is a good thing. You can fetch specific things with this too!
Casual Dragon Cardgame enthusiast.
Kinda weak for a legend but gives draw to hunter
With Hunter losing a lot of aggression with this rotation, I think they can afford to play this. It's nice that you can play all three spells on curve next turn if you need to. This also pairs nicely with Mankrik since Olgra, Mankrik's Wife costs three mana (after an upcoming patch) as well as Tracking for more card draw. I'm a little scared about Hunter's viability this expansion, but I definitely think this helps Hunter reload the midrange approach that they are getting multiple tools for.
For glory, honor, and gold!
I was so excited for this card as I run a toxic reinforcements deck. 1 cost toxic reinforcements 2 cost feign death to activate afterwards and a 3 cost kill command for good measure. But then I realized secrets would get drawn as well. There goes the feign death :(
Hunter draw is garbage so most hunter decks that are not agro and using vulture depend on deck thinning from secrets being pulled out of the deck and tossed into the battle field. This card is the exact opposite of what most hunter decks are looking to do. as deck thinning is and will be the only reliable method of reducing deck size to get to the targeted draws, And not being able to specifically and reliably target pull feign death with this card makes it useless to me.
Another day, another expansion, another empty hand and turn too late to play any type of hunter other than a buzzard agro deck. I feel hunter has been left behind for good and will never fit into this fast paced busted meta (wild especially)
Honestly the 5 cost 3/5 doesn't bother me much as I kill most people from hand with my said deck without ever having to interact with the board. It is the same concept as an OTK deck minus the 1 turn 30 health. it is more like 1 turn 16-20 health that is non interactive, There needs to be better cycle options as deck thinning itself has become too slow in comparison to draw mechanics for other classes. Sadly this garbage card is not the solution.
The honest card text of this card should be: "Battlecry: Find Mankrik's Wife"
