That makes a lot of sense. I logged in to make sure my packs from watching the early deck crafting streams on Twitch and had an additional pack show as being added. I was just clicking through and didn't realize what was going on until I realized I was on my third pack awarded. I have finished the mercs storyline, so it is possible that was where it came from.
I really don't like the fact that all of these cards except Gigafin are only playable in strictly one deck. In Standard, because of the small card pool, the archetypes will find a place for themselves in the meta. But if in Wild neither Murloc nor Curse Warlock turn out to be a thing (and frankly I don't expect it), then essentially Warlock only got one playable new card from the new set, and that's very disappointing.
You get a finite number of quests per day or week. You want to apply the highest XP bonus to as many quests as you can over the course of the track. Therefore, every day or week spent at the lower XP bonus represents a loss.
Damn, a shame they are not checking if all the Nax wings have been bought/completed instead of the possession of all the cards. I dusted some of the legendaries aaaages ago…
I saw some suggestions for changing Pandaren Importer to only discovering from a pool of spells that aren't *currently* in the deck, but coding anything on such a short notice is bound to be more difficult than doing simple mana cost adjustments they so like.
Lol, rogue got nerfed before day one even. Probably they playtested it and thought it sucks being on the receiving end of a combo at turn 5. In any case, poor Pandaren Importer got nerfed to 3, which makes it even less playable than it was before, where it at very least had a 1 mana advantage over Venomous Scorpid. Now its competing unfavorably with both scorpid and Vulpera Scoundrel
They could've just made it so the panda cant discover Shadowstep for the time being. While its not ideal, its still better than nerfing a card that heretofore had little impact on the meta, and I doubt the playerbase would be up in arms over a change like that. Its not like rogue would play that card anyway. What it does do is practically making the card unplayable for classes that might actually want to play it as a 2 mana option.
Just a question - anyone else got a golden standard pack? And if so for what? I mean, I logged into the game today and I've got one, Idk for what. Is it for completing all Book of Mercenaries chapters or...?
That is roughly 15 decks that are very playable and strong right now in the meta. A healthy mix between midrange, aggro, Combo, and control.
I said it before and I'll say it again this is LOR with perfectly balanced scales, now is that a good thing for every person, absolutely not perfect balance can equal stagnation but for me man this is beautiful.
A few champ tweaks for underplayed champions like Ekko, or Jayce and the game is literally perfect right now.
Why put Kobold Geomancer in the Core set if they were going to print this anyway? It just wastes a slot in the Core set that could've instead been used for a card that isn't strictly worse than a card in the expansion.
I kinda asked something similar on last rotation but since this is a year rotation I wanted to check again if I should. This is for the extra ticket we get from arena, for example.
I guess so, but if that's the plan why not just play The Caverns Below and ignore Hooktusk and Galakrond altogether? Sure, wanting to play them is reason enough to make the deck, but being forced to spend a few turns faffing around with 1/1s purely to activate one battlecry that probably won't be game winning doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather incorporate pirates into the core gameplay personally.
Only archetype DH has outside of Odd would be Fel and OTK. As such, I'll give them a go with the new cards. I did have some success when the reverts went live.
Yeah, same here. Got one golden standard pack upon login. I thought the pop-up was only a visual bug, until I saw these comments. I´ve completed all the stories aswell, so it makes sense.
Some off meta decks like Galakrond Rogue or Reno Rogue may want to use [Pirate Admiral Hooktusk] as a top end.
I'd be impressed if someone found space for all the required pirates and invoke cards. Seems like an interesting challenge! Definitely a Pirate-Reno deck could work though since there has been plenty of pirates for rogue to choose from in Wild. I've had reasonable success with one of those decks before, and it gets a huge boost now.
I agree with your overall assessment. The set is heavily geared towards a kinda slow pirate-heavy deck, which is unlikely to compete directly with warrior in Wild. It's no doubt more fun though, what with having plans beyond just spamming pirates and hitting face.
You may be right, in that case it’s even worse but Reno Control Mages may still play it depending on the meta (still 2 stars because that’s a very niche deck).

New Neutral Minion - Rainbow Glowscale
Here's something that really bothers me.

Its likely for finishing the merc storyline. I can't confirm this, because I also got the pack and I finished it ages ago.

Duels already did a reset on 5th if Im not mistaken. I doubt it'll reset again on the 12th.

A Wild Review of Voyage to the Sunken City's New Mage Cards Coming to Hearthstone
This is all dependent on whether Mech Mage becomes viable in wild, and if it is, it will get nerfed. The cycle of a Mage player.

A Wild Review of Voyage to the Sunken City's New Mage Cards Coming to Hearthstone
Quest Mage has better options, I really doubt it would see play there.
I was originally going to give Mech Mage 4 stars but I think being bold with this prediction is more fun + promotes more discussion.
Even if it’s not tier 1 but tier 2 I’d call it a 5 star card given how rarely mage gets new archetypes in Wild over the years.
A Wild Review of Voyage to the Sunken City's New Mage Cards Coming to Hearthstone
Giving mech mage cards 5 stars was very bold, but I doubt it will turn out to be a meta defining deck.
Also, spellcoiler deserves more than 1 star, it seems like a decent inclusion in quest mage.
