  • Dean Ayala’s Hearthstone Q&A Recap #40 - Theorycrafting Streams, 4 Expansions Per Year, New Hero Skins

Also, thay need to have 10 new cards in each deck (I think). This makes many decks non-optimal.

Least now we know why the original HS announcement was delayed...🤣due to a lack of eyesight

  • Dean Ayala’s Hearthstone Q&A Recap #40 - Theorycrafting Streams, 4 Expansions Per Year, New Hero Skins

If you estimate one set to $50, how can 4 sets be $400? Your math is just plain wrong.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Abyssal Depths

4 mana draw 2 sounds HORRIBLE, but actually it's AMAZING. This tutors your 2 lowest cost MINIONS. This means that BIG DH can both tutor Vanndar Stormpike AND is able to theoretically run 2 4 mana minions. Imagine BIG DH but they can run both Vanndar Stormpike and another 4 drop like Kazakus, Golem Shaper which will both work after casting 1 Abyssal Depths. Of course that means only running 1 copy of Abyssal Depths though cuz kazakus... Maybe not the best example.

In Questline or some other DH deck you could tutor out other cards such as Lady S'theno and other mana cheaty cards, which sounds good as well.

This card will see a LOT of play in slower DH archetypes, and OTK DHs.

  • Lets play a game - Non-existing cards

I played a wild game today and Yogg-Saron, Master of Fate cast Hunter's Pack which gave me a non-collectible weapon. At least I thought this is some weird weapon from single player game modes, I even took a screenshot of that weird card.

To my surprise, this is a real Hearthstone card from Forged in Barrens. Never saw it before. Never.

This deck is awesome, one thing I would recommend is Steeldancer for tempo and stat generation after you play the weapons.

Ah yes, looks spectacular now. Great job @Avalon

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Abyssal Depths

Its a card you put into combo decks. In nearly every other deck, its just too slow as card draw.

Right out of the bat, you can easily slot this to tutor out Lady S'theno and Wayward Sage. And if you can play the sage immediately, then you've just guaranteed a discount on lady stheno which is quite scary.

Perhaps in quest dhunter, you can tutor out spell damage minions or just plain Persistent Peddler to finish off the quest even faster. The deck might play this just to draw 2, since it losts a good deal of its draw options.

  • New Neutral Minion - School Teacher

Its just being upended by Venomous Scorpid in many ways, including cost, restrictions, and the fact that scorpid will kill anything barring divine shield while this card and its student can't.

It does has its own niche, in that the student can be bounced for multiple castings of the same spell, so essentially if you get Sinister Strike, you can conceivably just deal 3 damage each time the card goes back to your hand. The fact that the student will likely cost 1 makes that all the more easier.

The other would be the fact that this card is a naga. And the student being a naga as well, means there's plenty of fuel for a naga deck.

Outside of that, there's just very little reason not to just play the better card in scorpid.

  • New Demon Hunter Spell - Abyssal Depths

I'm interested to see what kind of DH decks would use this; clearly it's a deck that wants to tutor specific minions, whether for a game ending combo or just a very powerful one. This could be really good to get Wayward Sage to guarantee mana discounts, or, if you're going really heavy on other minions, Sunken Defector. Or, you could just run a bunch of spells and use this to tutor Kazakusan.

  • New Demon Hunter Minion - Coilskar Commander

    Pro

Seems OK. The price is a little steep, except that DH has a decent number of cheap spells that they like running, so the only problem becomes getting this in hand to activate it. Could be an OK roadblock for a slower DH deck against aggro, but otherwise I'm not sure this helps win games.

  • New Neutral Minion - School Teacher

Pretty cool card. I like the cheaper Swampqueen Hagatha vibe, and this could do some good things in the right decks. If Naga decks are a thing, I can't imagine why they wouldn't run this (unless Kazakus, Golem Shaper is just straight-up better). I know there's got to be a least one class whose spell pool will be tight enough that they can guarantee getting a good option most of the time. I'll definitely be hoping to open it so I can experiment.

  • HS refugee, LoR is fine but where is the fun?

    Quote From pudgelover

I can agree with all said. Yeah, in MtG it's all about impact when we talk about control decks. All and all my view on the game could be wrong, which prolly is and I can't say otherwise because what I know and what I've seen so far is not the greatest data base for comparison tbf. But still, I can enjoy a first win of the day struggling with Karma /Sol or some retarded greedy comp up until I get a better understanding of the game. The game is clearly designed to be a minions clash with combat tricks and you either let it resolve or you interfere so, yeah I guess for some people it's better than trying to play around board clear or big minion with potential to turn the game around. MtG besides MonoBitch as they used to call it back in the days, I enjoy most of Izzet decks being burn control with insane card draw or mill, or good old 2021 Dragon Control. So,ya. As I said LoR is a decent game, lovely animations sometimes a bit too long but hey, its fancy. Design is overall good quality in terms of mechanics and core values of the game when it comes down to interactive gameplay. So, I guess I am on a quest to come up with a greedy 30% win rate at best deck, haha! I get it that some people will react negative to what I said, coming from a different universe where we play broken cards upon broken cards to defeat even more broken cards yeah, playing for board and buffing units will be a bit strange. Watching players shiver and  calculate how much to advance the board state waiting for "Wrath of God" ( Still legal card btw in MtG ) is just other type of fun, but also gives you time and slows down the pace of the game overall because if you overcommit you are kind of done. So,ya. I can't say that I hate the game, or that the game is just aggro, as I said there are combo decks, burn decks, some midrange but ya in general minions royal. So take it with a grain of salt. Also, I do listen to advice and I do take suggestions if they are explained stupid enough for someone like me who is obviously ignorant af. Before I forget, board development in LoR is slower compared to MtG, not that it's slow in LoR.   :)

P.S Here is my definition of aggro for ya lad , "aggressive deck which attempts to win the game through persistent, quick damage dealing." Just saying.

Stay safe, stay sexy and may the Doomskar be with ya!

This is actually an excellent response to both my post and Trifarian General's post.

I officially apologize for the tone of my most recent response above. It was definitely harsher than necessary, and rude besides. So, my apologies for that.

Back to the original topic, I actually had another thought that hasn't been mentioned yet, in terms of "attrition"-style decks in LoR. Have you investigated Maokai yet? And I don't mean in a deep deck. I mean in a mill deck. They are very niche and barely ever used, but I HAVE seen them.

    Something like this maybe.

Side note - I have never played MtG, but I did play Eternal for quite a while, which is just about as close as you can get to being a MtG clone without being the same game. Generally in games like Eternal (and probably also MtG) aggro is kinda non-viable unless it's completely broken beyond all imagining. When your opponent can remove your units as fast as you play them, for the same mana/card cost or even 2-for-1 or 3-for-1, then aggro just can't ever get started (again, unless it's absurdly fast). In Eternal, the only viable aggro decks would be winning on turn 3 or 4. I assume it's similar for MtG. But LoR is not designed like those games, so aggro looks different here.

  • Abyssal Depths is a New Demon Hunter Card Revealed by JustAGuy for Hearthstone's Voyage to the Sunken City Expansion

As long as combo dhunter can still exist this card will see play. At the moment, the only cards that come to mind is Lady S'theno and Wayward Sage, or you can play this in quest dhunter just to get Persistent Peddler to finish up quest more quickly.

Perhaps in big dhunter, you can reliably get vanndar out, but it would force you to basically skip two turns playing this and vanndar on turns 4 and 5. Its weak, but still an option worth considering.

  • New Hunter Spell - Naga's Pride

Raj Naz'jan into this into a 4-cost spell might be good. Or maybe you want to save Raj to play bigger spells for more face damage. The only other 2-cost Naga is Amalgam of the Deep.

  • Big Demon Demon Hunter

This deck is going to be so much better after the new expansion - the latest card revealed for demon hunter (Abyssal Depths) can draw both Vanndar and Caria. Overall a way higher chance of getting Vanndar into play early.

  • Abyssal Depths is a New Demon Hunter Card Revealed by JustAGuy for Hearthstone's Voyage to the Sunken City Expansion

This can be scary one day. Ignite OTK Mage was insane because it had so many specific cards to draw what it needed.

  • Abyssal Depths is a New Demon Hunter Card Revealed by JustAGuy for Hearthstone's Voyage to the Sunken City Expansion

Is this something that Demon Hunter wants to do?

If you're fishing for particular low cost minions, don't you want to play them before turn five?

Or you want to get them into hand because something else is going to pull from the deck.

I'm just not seeing it right now.
