It's not even great for PC players. If a platform owner is at the same time the driving force behind game development, it's pretty much always bad for the consumer because it's in the interest of the platform owner to push their platform every chance they get. The Age of Empires remasters have been a perfect example. They could have pushed those out on so many available Windows platforms. Nope, Win 10 only. You can expect the same treatment for everything that will come out of Blizzard moving forward. It won't be long until they say fuck Windows 10, time to push for people to migrate to Windows 11. As soon as they can get away with cutting off support for older platforms, they will. And nobody can say shit to them because people aren't suddenly start abandoning Windows altogether en masse for other OS. Microsoft has monopoly and that allows them the luxury of impunity.
I agree. Microsoft bought Bethesda and now any future T:ES games will no loner be on Playstation. This is great for PC players and Xbox players, but for Playstation players they just lost a lot of future games.
AWESOME NEWS. This will be a good thing for Blizzard as a whole, not only for Hearthstone. Lots of people will get fired though. Blizzard needs a BIG cleanup and increase delivery time A LOT. It's incredible how slow they are. Many people putting stones on the wheel and pretending that they are working.
For example, Overwatch "2" isn't even a sequel, it's an expansion (let's be honest). It was announced on 2019, but probably development started some time before. An expansion like that should take 2 to 3 years for a company as big as Blizz. And all points out to it being delayed AGAIN another year. If 'd be on charge I'd do a serious cleanup on the teams. Probably the problem is that they have lots of unneeded bosses and subdivisions that slow things up a lot, with people from the business taking decisions based on "I personally think" other than on data, facts and value focus.
Jumping from one frying pan to another. The only difference here is being flamed by a different corporate entity.
Looking at the latest microsoft made release, halo infinite, Im not optimistic. There's no guarantee that this acquisition would suddenly push blizz out from that creative quagmire that they are currently drowning in. Nor would it signal a return to better days when games are created and released when ready, or represent bold new directions in the industry. If we're lucky blizzard would actually still be here in the next 10 years, and we don't find ourselves opening up battlenet with an xbox logo on it.
The only good thing coming out of this is B Kotick would probably finally be excised from the company, to allow another sort of tick to suck blood off this corpse that used to be blizzard entertainment.
Not sure how I feel about this. On one hand this gives you a lot of intricate things to do on your end even if your taverns have been shit and you've had zero triples to work with. On the other, if done poorly this might lead to a rich get richer problem where the heroes that are already strong and winning will be doing better on their objectives than the weaker ones, which will then earn them rewards that push them forward in power even more. And if the buddies wind up too powerful, you might also end up in a situation where everyone is just playing in their own little corner trying to tick off objectives while what plays you're making in the tavern plays second fiddle.
Brukan with Tarecgosa is going to be nuts. Swap it back and forth from left to right and use the appropriate attack or health buff and you can get one big minion real fast.
*edit* And lets not forget what the spirit raptor will do to enhance that. If I read that correctly, you only need four turns to do each one once and then it will do them all on deathrattle, plus whichever one you choose for your hero power activation.
I personally value gold less than dust, since gold can only randomly give me cards while dust directly gives me cards. I value gold at 100 gold equals 80 dust, hence where I value Smite as a worth 2k gold. Over time, packs may give 100 dust, but most of the time I just get 40 dust, but I do get decent packs once in a while so I compromised with 80.
Microsoft has been doing good in the past 5-7 years with their acquisitions. I see this as being a huge positive and once Kotick gets the boot (rumored he is leaving after ATVI is acquired) that should really pave the way for a strong path forward.
Two new variations of Horn of Cenarius which I feel are more balanced and interesting.
I think I prefer the second version, but I'm aware many people are not fond of infinite effects like Aluneth or Skull of the Man'ari. Of course, suggestions about the mana cost or the Durability of the first version are welcome.
Ha, this game is going to be pretty hard for all those idiot streamers who call every card by the stats instead of the name. No, that card is not "3/1 Stealth." It's Sneaky Delinquent, and this conversation would be a lot easier to follow if you'd use proper names.
The term is referred to as the "golden parachute". In acquisitions, leadership usually stays around for roughly a year to maintain the infrastructure. I don't expect him to stay on permanently. And if he leaves he'll get a huge severance.
Also CEO's almost never get fired. The board usually approaches them, asks them to leave, and pays them off. It's bad publicity for a company if they have to outright fire a C-level person, because it usually indicates hostility, undermining, and even ignorance on the board level for getting to that point.
everyone talking about how things might get better from the microsoft purchase obviously does not remember the activision blizzard merger literally spelling the beginning of the end for the entire company as a respectable entity
Well, I have an old-school flip phone with online capabilities that would have made us cringe in the '90s. So for this context no, I don't have a phone :P

Someone of Kotick's caliber isn't looking for a payday. He's looking to do stuff, otherwise, I'm sure he could retire ages ago and do whatever.
