Now the Corrupt is blatantly better, summoning upgraded Treants. They also can feed into Nightmare's Embrace immediately (by trading), meaning Corrupted Ysera gets a head-start on her Hero Power usage. I kept regular-Ysera's Hero Power as Play instead of Summon mostly because it wouldn't fit without looking ugly.
Sadly can't show you the Treant token, 'cause I've run out of room *shrugs* It would just be an evil tree, functioning as a "vanilla" 4/4/4 with Rush.
I will say that I'm not personally as thrilled about this current iteration, because I wanted to keep the Twisting Nether/better Poison Seeds connection to the Nightmare, being a realm of death, but if people prefer this version than that's fine. I'd rather win than soothe my ego lol.
Thanks for the reminder, the invite and the encouragement - but I ended up losing on my final game ... In terms of game plans, any cheap spells packages will be put to good use, as well as spell/outcast discount, allowing you to cycle through your hand faster. Make sure to add extra card draw for quest completion purposes - a few treasures of that 0 mana spell, you and your opponent draw 2 cards sure won't hurt. Ideally, you want to set your self up for a TTK, swinging almost all you got in about 2 turns - 15 to 20 dmg each blow - aiming for a midrange win. Best of luck!
Predict is a Shurima identity technically, but because of the champion pairing system, it is only 1/8 of Shurima's identity. The problem is that "identity" becomes so wide and muddled and there's so much crossover between region identity that regions don't really feel different anymore. Like OP said, region pairings have more identity than the regions themselves. The Shurima+PnZ pairing has more identity than Shurima on its own. Zilean feels more like a PnZ champion than a Shurima champion, and Nasus feels more like a Shadow Isles champion than a Shurima champion.
And yes, Bandle's main identity is card generation, but so is that of Targon and PnZ. The extreme overlap is pretty clear.
Region identity is not based around a single mechanic but rather strength and weakness :
P&Z for example has access to lots of removal, burn damage and is good at maintaining card advantage ( either with draw effect or card generation ), on flip side the region has no healing and struggle in combat because it's unit's tend to have underwhelming stat line.
Some regions can overlap with another and still tweak the mechanic enough for it to be different for example Ionia, Noxus and Freljord all have spell removal as part of their identity but they are different from one another :
- Ionia cannot completely get rid of an enemy unit they can only temporarily recall it with cards like Will of Ionia or Homecoming.
- With cards like Ravenous Flock or Scorched Earth Noxus is good at removing single high health unit's but don't have ways to deal with swarm.
- Freljord is good at dealing with swarm of low health unit with cards like Avalanche or Blighted Ravine but struggle at dealing with big ones.
Finally it's not a realistic expectation to think that every champion is going to fit withing the confine of region identity, Demacia for example is supposed to be a anti magical, combat oriented region but many of their remaining champions are mages ( Sona, Sylas, Morgana )
With Mondays Weeklies I´ve finally hit lvl 70 and got that 20% boost. Today I´ve also hit 1400 Honor for the High Warlord rank and got golden Vanndar Stormpike, so now I can try to do the Wing Commander Ichman achievement (which I "luckily" opened in my last pack). My XP achievement count is at 55% done, hope that they will fix the broken ones soon.
When the expansion launched and the OwlTK became a thing I used that package for some Maly Lock hijinks. I thought while playing my Malygos list, “This package could easily be used for some Mecha’thun BS!” I never tried it but obviously many others had the same thought as the Mecha’thun Warlocks started popping up quickly while the Owl was suddenly nowhere to found in Wild.
Probably not going to be addressed until at least a few weeks after Dec 2021. Its that time of the year after all, just try losing your internet line during a major holiday and face a week without it because everyone's taken a hike.
Perhaps this is the time we finally have a little talk about putting xp rewards for achievements and how unrealistic it is for the majority of the players to achieve it without going all out of their way to do so. And then for some reason they'd set it so it will only grant xp on the expansion itself, so you cant just let it be and complete it naturally as the game ages, forcing you to purposefully create decks out of cards no one in their right mind would insert into a competitive deck, just for the sake of the xp gain. To be honest, if there's an angry mob outside their offices demanding swift bug fixes to achievements, they have no one to blame but themselves.
Unfortunately yes, it appears that the first month of the expansion isn't the best period for a Master Duelist challenge. Not even I was able to have a shot at 1.5: between the (huge) content creation of these weeks and the fact that, you know, I wanted to try the new cards, I think I had just a couple Duels runs.
Thanks Calemnir for the submission and congratulations for your 12er: definitely an interesting take on the archetype, and I am glad it worked out in the end!
It's a card that might be interesting if it ever existed, but the way it works is pretty unintuitive, so I'd try something else.
linkblade91
I don't dislike the fact that the two forms are very distinct from one another, but maybe the Corrupted HP could have more to do with a Control playstyle. Maybe dealing damage to a minion? I don't know.
BasilAnguis
I think two turns of Immune are too dangerous, since you could buff the Forest Maiden on the first turn it can attack, especially since Druid has a good number of buff effects (probably the third class on this regard after Pally and Priest). I think 1 Dormant (and Immune) turn is enough.
Besides that, the idea is quite original, but a bit strange.
R
I don't mind bending class identity a little bit in this comp, but this is too much IMO. That effect screams Warlock to me.
AeroJulwin
Probably my favorite card so far. The effect just feels like a twisted version of Druid mechanics, which I think is the most interesting way to go for this comp.
While Targon's invoke and Bandle's Manifest indeed are very similar they however differ quite clearly.
Targon's invoke is limited to a small set of cards and since many invoke cards also fetch from a subset of this small set it's quite predictable for both players.
Bandle City's manifest however gives access to a set of cards dependant on the player's region choices.
The manifest cardpool tends to be way larger than the invoke pool.
The consequence is that the outcomes of an manifest trigger is very hard to predict for both players resulting in a huge highroll/lowroll potential for the mechanic and a lower counterplay potential for the opponent.
I therefore think that invoke has the better design out of these 2 mechanics.
P&Z's card generation is different however since those eighter create a specific card like Poro Cannon and Iterative Improvement or a completely random one.
Creating cards in your deck (which is a p&z thing aswell) isn't something i consider as card creation since you don't get access to those cards without other carddraw.
Because hypocrisy annoys me. You don't get to say "I'm not complaining" and then say something is shitty in the same breath, especially when the thing in question is not even remotely shitty in the first place.
As you already kind of eluded to, they are in their end of year break where the whole company takes a few weeks off. So not much will be done about it until maybe next week at the earliest. It does seem odd that they couldn't get the fixes in before the break since the expansion released 12/7, however, I do believe they had some other bugs they probably focused on first. Then I'm guessing they focused on deciding balance changes to push out after Worlds. I understand that being priority as if they waited until January to do any balance changes people would have been super pissed! So maybe that took all their time prior to the end of the year break?
The one that has to be really annoying is for people playing a lot of Paladin with the Cariel hero card. Most of them have probably actually hit their achievement goal of damage prevented by the turtle shell and it shows no progress at all.
Perhaps even a tad negative on my side, but it does not bode well that the number of bugs seem to grow every year and take longer and longer to get addressed. As for the current XP achievements bugs, it baffles me that they were not discovered before the new expansion was released nor got fixed soon after. Of course, it is not the end of the world and there should be plenty of time left to complete the achievements if they get fixed soonish in 2022.
I actually like your first idea best. It can create a 2 Mana difference between you and your opponent much like Overgrowth, or a 1 Mana difference when you play it on-curve. It also fits Druid's identity better.
I don't like Fever Dream. It just feels like on-curve damage with extra steps and it's kinda boring, since it doesn't interact with the board. You should probably go with Nightmare Lord Xavius instead, since it gives your opponent the opportunity to minimize the damage making it much more interactive.
TheHoax91
I like how the Dormant effect covers all bases. It obviously prevents healing/Armor, which is unique, but it also prevents attacking, so its effect isn't useless against most classes.
That being said, it is a tech card and doesn't seem too game-changing, so I think it'd be more fitting in Neutral.
linkblade91
I can see the create/destroy turnaround in the Battlecry, but I do agree the Currupted Hero Power should be more of an upgrade. They also become too strong too fast.
Maybe make the stacking effect only count for the next time you use your Hero Power. Then the normal one could upgrade it wherever you summon a minion and the Corrupted whenever ANY minion dies (since that includes the ones you summon that should be somewhat of an upgrade). It's possibly too weak, but it's just an example to give an idea of what I'm talking about while still staying true to the flavor of your card.
Gotta admire the use of Corrupt on a Hero card, though.
BasilAnguis
Dormant is a keyword. The Immune is indeed scary, but I don't see any immediate issues with it, since it does require a minion to "sacrifice" and I cant find any broken combos.
R
It works as a value card, but Warlock already has Shadow Council and Druid just doesn't have the Demon-synergies to justify this card for me.
This has been driving me nuts, and I'd be willing to wager that there are a ton of other people that feel the same. I normally love to go in and bust out these achievements for the new expansion as it gets you more XP and higher on the rewards track to earn more gold with each level. This time around though, does anyone else feel that Blizzard has taken their sweet time in addressing these bugs?
I had posted/reported a number of bugs with these achievements since day one and I am still finding myself at a loss for words. I've not heard of any announcement of when/if they are planning on addressing these bugs. I have been checking the forums of several sites and Blizzard numerous times and I haven't seen anything.
I work in software, so I know that this time of year... virtually nothing gets done. Most people are taking time off for the holidays and such. So I can anticipate there being a delay. But even in most software environments it feels that there is some kind of information available. But for this expansion it sounds like crickets.
What are everyone else's experiences with this so far?

Thank you, linkblade, for the thorough explanation. I don't know much about WoW lore myself, except the bits and pieces I get from Hearthstone. I believe this should be on-theme:
The idea behind it is that the Emerald Nightmare starts these outgrowths on some of the roots of the World Tree, which is taxing on the nature around it. In practice, it's a control tool that punishes decks that rely too heavily on extra card draw.
What combo control meta? Everyone is playing burgle rogue right now which is anything but that. Looking past that the following decks are what I see at legend:
Aggro:
-Face hunter
-Pirate warrior
Midrange:
-Quest rogue
Combo:
-Bolner shaman
-Mozaki mage
-Some druid and dh jank
Control
-Libram paladin
-Hand warlock
The meta is extremely varied. I have no idea what you're talking about.
I enjoy the meta right now - at least on European Server the Meta is pretty diverse - sure there are some decks you see more of than others (Pirate Warrior, Libram Paladin for example) but my last 6 Games right now were against:
Burgle Rogue, Freeze Shaman, Pirate Warrior, Guff / Ramp Druid , Quest Rogue ,Deathrattle Priest and OTK Warlock - 6 Games and every one of those were different.
Sure like i mentioned sometimes i met the same deck twice or even three times in a row but i still have fun because not every game is the same. Also i only play decks i enjoy and im at Diamond 10 so i mess around with lots of homebrew and fun decks - and i have fun with them even if i loose.
So, i realy do not see the forementioned WomboCombo Meta - yes some OTK´s i've met like the Owl OTK from Warlock but right now that is the only OTK i've seen. Maybe Guff C'Thun Counts as OTK?
TLDR,: I enjoy the meta and do not see many Wombo Combo Decks!
I agree with Demon's criticism, so I decided to go for a new idea.
If regular Druid is about gaining Mana, evil Druid punishes your opponent for using theirs.
The first version is like Time Out!, in that you spend 3 Mana to prevent (or discourage) your opponent from doing something.
The legendary feels appropriate for this effect, but maybe it's too polarizing depending on whether your opponent can remove it cleanly or not, but I guess that can be said about a lot of cards.
I used "after" instead of "whenever" so that your enemy can still heal or gain Armor, but maybe the core idea is too toxic in itself. I don't know, it's a bit tricky, I think.
