  • How Expensive Are Hearthstone's Mercenaries Buildings? Includes the New Training Grounds Building

Yeah, I would agree.  Especially for players who aren't too invested in the main game mode these prices are more than fine!  I was more so just stating how dumb I felt having not even considered that they would have some cost associated with upgrading them... LOL!

Not sure what I expected.  Maybe something tied to the Bounties or whatever would help you level up buildings... ?  But how would that have ever made sense???

Can't wait for Oct 12.  I even have the day off work!  (The day off work is unrelated to Mercs, but still a plus!)

Thanks for the load of information, by far the best site for Mercenaries contents . 👍👍

Seeing that you can go solo against AI I'd say it's a fair cost for a lot of gaming hours, that will give you xp that equals gold. So you might not spend on packs and just get whatever bounties/quests give you, and spend on buildings to have more of those.

No. I’m getting fed up.  I’ve played since open Beta and my enthusiasm has been dwindling for a couple years. I’m just so fed up with the shit.  Aggro, aggro, aggro, peppered in with Priest bullshit.

every time I play against that fucking quest priest bullshit, I want to strangle someone.  Literally wins from nonsense.  Discover another discover card into another until you find the perfect answer.  Last time, I faced a priest who played 4 fucking Soul Mirrors in addition to the shadow word deaths and hysteria’s.  Today, it was palm reading into renew into shadow word ruin killing my last 2 minions.  It isn’t skill it’s fucking bullshit

You must be the only person so far whos actually complaining about quest priest. Unless you're running aggro decks like taunt druid, there's simply no way for quest priest to win outside of a massive misplay, because nearly every deck in standard currently destroys slow decks like this one.

Looks like the bounties that drop coins for all three of the pre-order mercenaries require level 30 mercenaries to attempt. We don’t know how good those mercenaries actually are, though Diablo seems strong, but it does increase the value of the pre-orders a bit.

Of course the coins for those mercenaries can drop from packs but two of them are legendary so that’s a lot of packs. Another option is getting lucky with a portrait but we don’t really know the probabilities on those either.

  • Hearthstone Mercenaries Goes Full Pokemon - The Training Hall Brings Daycare to Level Up Your Mercenaries Automatically

For a mostly pve game, its really a weird inclusion. The pokemon comparison is apt, but in reality the daycare center is mostly for breeding because most people grind their pokemon games by actually playing them. The only time I remember actually even using daycare other than breeding is for pokemon that have absolutely 0 ability to fight like magikarp.

I'd imagine this being the case for mercs too. If there's a hero you really wanted to play, will you subject them to a daycare center or actually just play them like anyone else would? So unless there's literal magikarps in mercs, why would anyone allow for skipping what amounts to grind when grind is usually the whole point because that's usually where the meat of the gameplay would be?

I've never given Raid SL any attention, so that's not a comparison I was able to make.

I like to believe Pokemon Daycare is something more people would identify with, and it makes for a hell of a headline to boot!

I played five games this morning and lost all five by turn 5 or 6 - nothing I could do, no counterplay, nothing. I wasn't even playing anything greedy - it's just the power creep has gotten so bad that every other game feels like a blowout. It all comes down to who gets to play their broken crap first. I've never felt less agency while playing the game, and for the first time since I started playing I'm seriously thinking of quitting.

Expected, they have something like this in Raid: Shadow Legends and games like it, since HS Mercenaries is a RSL inside Hearthstone, I was expecting this.

Could've used some examples from games close to Mercenaries like Raid, but I guess we want to compare it to "positive" games like Pokémon, that's fine.

I don’t see this as a way to skip playing so much as a way to help your lower-level characters catch up to the rest. I like that - if I reach the point where I’m using high-level characters in PVP or PVE, I’m not going to want to play low-level games to get my new characters up to speed.

  • Hearthstone Mercenaries Goes Full Pokemon - The Training Hall Brings Daycare to Level Up Your Mercenaries Automatically

Agreed.  This implementation seems fine, it only seems ominous because of the implementation in other games.

I would prefer that the developers not copy elements from F2P games to avoid these sorts of comparisons.  It makes it feel like they were considering making it worse, but dialed it back before launch.  Hearthstone is pretty good all things considered, I just hope they don't backslide.

  • Hearthstone Mercenaries Mixtape - 7 New Songs Are Coming in the New Mode

Oh good. The app size only doubled last month, and I was really hoping they’d push it farther. Sometimes my phone still manages to download it on the first try.

  • Hearthstone Mercenaries Goes Full Pokemon - The Training Hall Brings Daycare to Level Up Your Mercenaries Automatically

If they implemented a single character boost, like pay 200 gold to level a chosen character by, say, 10 levels. Then THAT would be something to complain about, since it is seriously exploiting players' impatience. It's also exactly the sort of thing I expect modern games to do.

The Training Grounds they went with though, with it's one-off investment of 200/600 gold to permanently have a way to speed things up a bit, feels much more honest. Is it going to make Blizz a bit of money, albeit indirectly? Yes, but it's far from the micro-transaction money drain it could have been.

To me it feels like this is an instance of a perfectly reasonable game mechanic that invites cynicism primarily because its in a F2P/micro-transaction game, where everything even slightly monetised invites cynicism. Had this exact thing existed in a traditional game where you buy the whole game up front, then it would just be another thing to use the in-game currency on and no-one would bat an eyelid at it.

It was cool during the first days, but after that it has become shit. You must be a masochist to play vs mage over and over again.

Games are annoyingly polarizing - win or lose, everything is decided by what you queue into and draw in first 3 turns. But you are trapped for much more.

People are crying over Wild, but that format and Classic are, ironically, 3X better than Standard, lol.

I'm currently playing LoR. Feels different and more interesting now.

Perhaps is a bug indeed. First thing that I did when the stormwind came out was open the STANDARD packs, after this, stormwind packs

The point is that Staking A Claim is so good that you don't really care if your Discover effect triggers, as long as your cards have it.

You can pretty much switch the Discover keyword with "Battlecry: give all your minions +1/+1. Sometimes Discover a card."

There aren't many Discovery cards in the Duels pool, so we cannot really be too picky in that regard!
