Avalon, do you feel like some of the new treasures are overtuned? Specifically Meek Mastery, Party Replacement, and Oops All Spells?
I consistently see those treasures from opponents and that means 1 of 2 scenarios: They are the strongest and therefore are more often picked. Or they are the strongest and therefore are killing off people who chose other (worse) treasures.
Party Replacement is super strong, but out of the 3 I mentioned seems to be the most beatable if you have enough tools/degenerate combos in your own deck. (at the end of the day it just ends up being a free 2/2 which in early games is impactful, but later on is less dangerous.
Generally I primarily play casual duels when I play duels mode (because it's free!) so I'm unsure if the opponents I'm facing are just lucky, or just conceding and farming runs until they get "perfect passives" because of the free nature of casual duels.
I tend to agree with you. And let's forget about Captured Flag, an Ultra Rare Tier 2 Passive that got powercrept by Meek Mastery, a regular Tier 1 Passive.
These days, you need some serious proactive tools to beat those a high wins: Rally the Troops does it, as well as Party Replacement, but other than that there's just [Hearthstone Card (Ooops, all spells!) Not Found] degeneracy and nothing more...
A more accurate statement would be four nerfs targeting an engine used by multiple top tier decks.
And I am really confused by that question. What do you mean by "was Flawless Duet actually used?" Of course it was, have you never faced an Azir/Irelia? Something that is very unlikely if you have been playing the game for the last 4 months.
These are some good changes and the nerf to flawless duet in pretty brutal, I would have like it if they also nerfed some cards in the Ionia elusive rally decks but in the end of the day this is just a hotfix not a balance patch so I understand.
Individually, the shurima card nerfs can seem a bit underwhelming. But the three cards are often run together so decks that use them will take a huge blow.
Im amazed that these builds actually reached 12 wins without either captured flag or meek mastery. The entire top end of duels is filled with nothing but these builds.
Mostly played with a friend this expansion as I did not like the meta (we are making some really fun matches with decks like "Chef Rogue" and "Sleepy Folks Druid" so I did not advance that much this time.
Though I am almost level 70 right now. Well almost 69, but my "win 5 ranked games" weekly is almost finished.
Edit: Level 70 reached. That last XP boost is something I needed
The huge difference between a Merciless Hunter and the likes of Fiora and Aphelios is: they are winconditions that you actively want to protect because they will win you the game if the live long enough, if your Merciless Hunter dies you won't be too sad about it because it's just a 3 mana fearsome unit afterall
Also is the Legion Rearguard example a different case because the card literally had as it's only benefit to be overstatted as a 1 drop (which afterwards it wasn't anymore and totaly lost it's purpose)
As Caro said, these are not full patch notes despite being so lengthy, merely a blog about the Battlegrounds revamp. The nerfs will still happen with the patch as well, they just decided not to announce them beforehand for some reason.
Very interesting to look back and check the progress since my last post 3 months and 2 weeks ago. No new tresholds passed, but the spread of wins over the classes isn't what I'd have expected:
class
total wins
progress
Demon Hunter
311
+110
Druid
328
+47
Hunter
1356
+113
Mage
1220
+66
Paladin
530
+30
Priest
207
+57
Rogue
308
+38
Shaman
190
+76
Warlock
679
+102
Warrior
371
+58
For a total of +697 wins. Depending on the next round of Warlock nerfs and their impact on Wild, I'll probably spam Shadow Priest and Celestial Druid next season. Maybe I'll also go for the golden Warrior portrait because I just like the Warrior QL very much.
The health nerf for both cards means that they mostly cannot survive more than one combat in many cases. One of the advantages of Merciless Hunter was being able to remove something and survive to gain a 2-for-1 advantage - that's a LOT less likely now.
One of the bonuses of Ruin Runner is being alive for multiple attacks, or being able to block and then also still attack. With only 3 health, it's almost certainly only getting in one attack turn and dying to a blocker.
So, I think the changes are more impactful than you're giving them credit for. Just look what one health nerf did to Fiora, Aphelios, and Rearguard (a much older example that was reverted to put him back to 2 health, but he was literally never used as a 3/1) - just as historical examples.
So, after another week, I´ve jumped to lvl80 and claimed that cool Summoner Tamsin portrait. Looks I´m back on earning 10 lvls a week, just like the previous climbs. My XP achievement count is on 80% too, grinding the Vengeance and Share your pain right now, both of them are indeed pain to complete :D My gold count is 60 shy of 2000g, so I´m ready for the Mini set, the rest from now on will be saved for the next expansion (or some rare cardbacks/heroes, if they ever become available).
So far it feels good for me, next week I should claim the coin. How are you all doing so far? Thanks for sharing your progress, it´s cool to see where is everyone at :)
The quote from blizzard are not patch notes. The warlock nerfs would be added to patch notes when released along with the above battlegrounds changes and sometimes some bug fixes and improvements
This might be coincidence or personal preference, but whenever I've made it to legend (6 times so far), it was in the early hours in the morning. Maybe there are some people playing on the bus or on the toilet or whatever, even at D1. Good luck!
That has anti-synergy with itself: You want to buy them for the elemental part, but eat them with the demon part. Just buy them and go full elementals.

Hmm, dunno if folks are busy or this is much harder than I thought. Let me know if I need to give another hint. I may do so later today anyways.

FOUR nerfs targetting the same deck? Wow that's what I call hate.

Golden Hero Portrait - Completionist & Grind
Yesterday I´ve finally achieved my second 1000 win portrait :D YAY!
Took me much longer than I´ve expected, but hey, I finally did it!
My current state (compared to the last time 6 months ago):
Hunter 1200 (1050)
Druid 1000 (800)
Warlock 850 (650)
Paladin 820 (700)
Mage 800 (680)
Warrior 400 (300)
Demon Hunter 300 (120)
Priest 240 (200) lol
Rogue 150 (50)
Shaman 140 (40)
Looks like my next 500w will be Warrior and the next 1000w will be Warlock. Hope it won´t take another half a year :D Let´s see...
