I should have definitely considered Cornelius Roame more than I did. Realistically, this archetype of deck can protect him very well and it does fix the major issue that the deck has once we complete the quest. However the biggest issue with Roame to me is that he is very dependent on what type of decks are seeing play in order for him to truly be strong. For example, in a minion dominant meta, where we can truly go to town pinging everything down for 2, Roame is just going to sit back and draw through most of our deck, but if decks with lots of removal, such as a spell mage, control warlock, etc, become mainstream, Roame gets significantly harder to stay alive, and thus worse.
That being said, Roame can probably find a home over something like Wandmaker in the current version of the list.
Oasis Ally over Flurry (Rank 1) is definitely an oversight on my part, so thanks for pointing that out to me.
As for the whole big brained decklist existing out there, that definitely wouldn't surprise me. Mage has legitimately strong minions that just don't see play because Refreshing Spring Water and Incanter's Flow are two very nice cards. But running them also means running what could be staples like Wand Thief and Jandice Barov just not possible. The decklist here being just raw Spell Mage is almost entirely the fact that I couldn't come up with a list that felt good on its own, and thus just decided to use an already proven 'engine' for the deck.
As for the archetype not needing the quest, I feel like its not that bad of a thing to try out since it effectively does just cycle itself, and later on discovers some more damage. I did not touch up much upon the first two rewards in the article since the whole series is mainly just "how fast is each quest on average", but the cantrip and discover are definitely two decent parts if you aren't trying to turbo through it. I'm very interested in seeing how this quest turns out since it's one of the few that I don't think needs to rely 100% on the final reward to get meaningful value out of.
You'd need to elaborate more if you hope of convincing me, because the only downside to that card is if it ended up in your mulligan hand.
Its a beast, its practically Saronite Chain Gang, and it has that crucial taunt factor. In my view quest hunter needs to stay alive above all else, so even if this thing gets value traded thats not really a problem as long as it protects your face as you race towards completing the quest.
At first glance, this card would only really support the quest line. But it could find it's way into a token DH (wild probably) or even OTK DH, as they tend to draw quite a few cards. I'm sure someone will try make an OTK with the weapon and Inner Demon
Super flavorful card, especially for those southpark fans. It will be tricky to copy and kill 7 boards, but there is the new farmer dude and I'm sure someone will create a crazy deck that pulls this off quite easily. Keen to experiment!
Reevaluated this card as it could become an even better Vilespine Slayer, and even if you don't play any SI7 cards before, a 7 mana destroy a minion, leave a 4/4 body behind isn't bad at all
There might be some big brained decklist out there that will actually play quest mage with minions. Because I'm absolutely convinced that spell mage doesn't need the quest.
Spell mage already does pretty well on its own, with its only weakness being that it can actually run out of gas to kill, just as long as it doesn't get overrun by minions, and since Ignite happily allows near infinite amounts of damage and pretty much negates any fatigue issue, even against control I'd say that its just good enough without the quest.
Im not really sure whyd anyone would want to play the quest unless the point is to play the quest itself. Maybe the first and second tier rewards are good enough that people just run it because mage traditionally skips their first turn anyway.
Also, I think I'd swap Oasis Ally with Flurry (Rank 1). Secrets are too expensive, and if you are jamming the quest you'd rather be finishing it as soon as possible, and 0 mana freeze are almost always better than a secret.
A way better Don Han'Cho that continuously buff minions per divine shield that's broken. Quite an unreliable effect unless you got lots of rush + divine shield minions. Not sure if it's really worth it though
So, I've cleared the new lab with Miss Fortune and Tahm Kench. I'm in the middle of a run with Twisted Fate.
So far, I think it's a lot of fun and fairly complex. There is a lot of player agency in deciding how to approach the lab as well, and a much wider variety to the encounters.
My tips would be: for the first few clears, don't really worry about your badges for the end of the run. Focus on maximizing your equipments and powers, because Gangplank is HARD to beat. VERY hard.
In my first run, I defeated him in one try, thanks to having Evolution and some absurdly overpowered units.
In my second run, despite having 6 really good powers, including Yipp's Genius, and having Zoe in the deck, I still died once on Gangplank before I defeated him. He's insanely strong. A much more fitting end boss than Viktor for sure.
Edit - After playing a few more times, I can say for sure that getting 6 powers is not normal. There isn't even a guarantee that you'll get an epic power at all, though you WILL get a random epic power offered if you spawn the Smooth Soloist '!' node. In any case, I've cleared all three champs, with TF being the hardest for me to finish. S-tier skill and wealth on both MF and Tahm Kench. I'll be going for speed badges last.
Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Hunter's Defend the Dwarven District Legendary Questline

New Paladin Spell - Noble Mount
Underwhelming card, especially since the warhorse does not seem to have good stats.
New Neutral Minion - Goldshire Gnoll
Surprisingly strong card if your deck is built to support this.
Wild · Even Warlock · by Tumbleweedovski · 5 years, 1 month ago
Can't wait to try out this deck. I'm absolutely positive that Goldshire Gnoll will shine in here!
New Demon Hunter Spell - Fel Barrage
Interestingly worded card and as ppl have pointed out, it can hit face. Might see play in OTK DH with Mo'arg Artificer
New Paladin Spell - Blessed Goods
Support for the new Quest, but new Quests are not good.
New Paladin Spell - Blessed Goods
Nice value card with the quest. Probably find something in your deck anyway or, even better, something situational you didn't have room for.
New Rogue Minion - SI:7 Assassin
SI:7 version of Vilespine Slayer. Does anyone know what SI:7 stands for perhaps? I am not too familiar with WoW lore.
EDIT: A quick Google search states: Stormwind Intelligence
New Rogue Minion - SI:7 Assassin
Saw a little of this on the streams. Seems really good.
Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Mage's Sorcerer's Gambit Legendary Questline

New Demon Hunter Weapon - Lion's Frenzy
Quest stuff. I'm having a hard time with quest stuff if it's good or not.
Quest stuff is probably fun but won't win lots of games.
Questing in Stormwind - Better Understanding Hunter's Defend the Dwarven District Legendary Questline

DreamHack Beyond Begins, 3 Hearthstone Tournaments Plus Free Forged in the Barrens Packs Available
F the game part of DreamHack Beyond. I lost 16 levels worth of XP 🤬 after having closed the game yesterday when I was at level 20.
Going for free packs via BG lobbies is the only worthwhile working viable way.
New Neutral Minion - Elwynn Boar
Super flavorful card, especially for those southpark fans. It will be tricky to copy and kill 7 boards, but there is the new farmer dude and I'm sure someone will create a crazy deck that pulls this off quite easily. Keen to experiment!
[Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)
GG WP, DestroyeR!
About counting: IDK, if I can find enough time to do it. Maybe we separate some pages between few people?
New Rogue Minion - SI:7 Assassin
Reevaluated this card as it could become an even better Vilespine Slayer, and even if you don't play any SI7 cards before, a 7 mana destroy a minion, leave a 4/4 body behind isn't bad at all
New Paladin Spell - Blessed Goods
So basically Hunter's Pack or War Cache for Paladin. This being 1 mana though makes it much more playable than those 2

New Paladin Spell - Noble Mount
It works with the current expansion theme of paladin = divine shield support. Nothing too fancy, should see a fair amount of play
New Paladin Minion - Highlord Fordragon
A way better Don Han'Cho that continuously buff minions per divine shield that's broken. Quite an unreliable effect unless you got lots of rush + divine shield minions. Not sure if it's really worth it though

How to Create a Private Fireside Gathering to Open Card Packs for a New Hearthstone Expansion - TITANS
It definitely did not work for brukan... (I had him on day 1 and no refunds)
New Warrior Spell - Heavy Plate
I like this card for Duels combined with Magnetic Mines hero power.
New Neutral Minion - Varian, King of Stormwind
Cool card, love the Diamond version of this card. Will definitely see play (also by me).
New Priest Spell - Call of the Grave
More RNG for Priest, but since it fits nicely into Shadow Priest I will not complain ^_^
