I'm an Arena player and I think they will be especially powerful there. Late game who cares how many time you cycle them while looking for something good and hey sometimes they are what you need
How's Flurry of Fists in that list? I imagine it'd be kinda bad since Double Attack is a pretty meh keyword if there's no Overwhelm. Like it attacks once fast and if it even attacks a second time, it probably just dies. Though, it does give cards like Rivershaper Quick Attack for value so I can imagine when it'd be pretty good, but Rush is usually better in my mind.
One thing that miffed me to no end regarding hero portraits was the they made a whole bunch of fully functional ones for the Year of the Dragon PvE content and then......... just never used them for anything else. Theres good money i'd be 100% willing to spend on getting to take Ol' Barkeye or Rakanishu into the ladder
Didn't Iksar recently say they were considering doing this? If so, I'd expect them to start with the Witchwood heroes because there's only 4 of them so it's not such a big jump from the sizes of bundles of past portraits, and because they were the first different characters we got to use in solo content (ignoring things like the White King in Karazhan).
I think you can't decide to strike an ally if you don't have a target (just like how you can't cast a buff spell if you don't have an ally). My interpretation is that the entire point of the "or deal 3 to your Nexus" clause is to force you to take damage if you don't have a target. It's open for interpreation though, so we'll see when it comes out
This is my conclusion too. If you don't have an ally to strike you can still play the card but you will be taking 3 damage to your nexus

This is kinda the main argument, I suppose. Though if they were trying to say that you have no choice, why not just make it To play me? I think Kindly Tavernkeeper is also a good example of this point. He's forced to heal Nexus/ally while being a fast play effect. I also think that since it says strike or deal, that also makes it a slightly different case. I'm either overthinking this or just really overthinking this lmao.

Ok wait, this is a tad bit random but if I'm reading this correctly, you can play this without an ally and not strike the Nexus right? It doesn't say "To play me" and is just a Play effect. So if you pick the strike an ally option without an ally, it should still be playable just as a 2 mana 3/2 Fury without doing 3 to your Nexus. Anyone can confirm? If my memory stands, you can play Blighted Caretaker without an ally, yes?

Mana cheating is always good. Drawing 4 cards is a little inconvenient since even if you use your hero power every turn it will still take 4 turns to get both discounts, and if you are trying to pull off an OTK waiting 4 turns is too long.
However, if you are playing a regular control warlock and using this just for raw value then the wait isn't so bad, and you can always use soul fragments to speed up the process.
Given that the Mage quest requires 9 spells of specific schools in a specific order, I highly doubt paying another 5 mana slows the quest down that much. The body's not gonna be the stopgap to that effect.
However, it is quantifiably more flavourful to get an upgraded Mercenary, so we can see their evolution throughout the year.
9 different spells is really hard to come at some point. Makes me wonder, is there gonna be a dual school of spell? Maybe Frost and Fire Breath in 1 card? Or perhaps even a threefold school, like Frost, Fire and Arcane missiles (one that randomly freeze, damage, and devolve? call it rainbow maybe)?
I believe the rigidness of having to play one of each spell class before advancing the quest severely diminishes Sorcerer's Gambit's playability. If the quest read something like "Play 3 of each Arcane, Frost and Fire spells and gain rewards for every third spell played", it would give Sorcerer's Gambit a lot more power while not even reducing the total number of spells needed for the final reward.
That being said, the rewards throughout the quest are still pretty good. I believe the current Spell Mage (a deck that's on a bad spot mostly because it was nerfed twice) will at the very least test this card, even when considering the anti-synergy Sorcerer's Gambit has with Incanter's Flow.

New Mechanics Overview of Hearthstone's Newest Expansion - United in Stormwind
Well, each expansion has its own flavor of keywords that rotate out after two years. So I think it is fine.
However, Tradeable might join the evergreen keywords like Rush, Discover and Lifesteal did.

This is the deck I’m currently testing. When you lose it can be rough, but when you win it is quick and brutal.

Damn, all these new mechanics and keywords they bring with each and every expansion make me confused.
I'd like if the devs rather polish some of the old mechanics and added more cards to support them though.

There was a version of Matron/Cithria that used Shyvana instead of Kalista, these cards could make that deck legit.

SI Dragons? Wait that's actually sick. You now have an incentive to go away from Targon/Demacia for dragons.

That'll be very nice, and difficult to make.
