Stop justifying the status quo on the basis of merit. Women aren't being forced to play; they aren't being invited to play. Women as competitors and content creators don't get a chance because of these merit based toxic attitudes. They are every bit as talented as their male counterparts, and have to endure far more toxic BS. If they don't see others like them competing in these spaces they won't play the game, they won't create content, they won't do any number of other things adding to the game that we all enjoy.

I'd love to get a grip of Rush Warrior. I have most of the cards and it's really fun to play, but the few times I've taken it to ladder I've lost. I'd love to get some pro tips from you guys to settle on a list and play it correctly. I don't have E.T.C. or Whatley, but I might craft Playmaker.

Remember, this is an invitational. The people in it didn’t win their place through pure skill. Blizzard chose them as part of a strategy to grow and guide the community.  Those choices have unconsciously favored white men for years, and the cumulative effect is that people like Regis make a successful career while equally deserving women have not. The best way to address this is to make a point of giving women the chances that they previously missed.

Well now that you posted the actual comment that got censored, I see a different picture than I originally painted in my head. Please keep in mind that my comment was fueled by previous experience with defending so-called "free speech" on online forums and I was biased to think the same is happening here.

nah, we don't have that petty censorship here. Unless you post deliberately inflammatory stuff you should be fine.

Also, regarding that zalae post forma  few days ago, it's not really censorship as much as people throwing out some really terrible and poorly thought out takes so Flux, being understandably frustrated, decided to shut down the whole thing to prevent the chaos.

It's not really censorship because he didn't remove specific comments for wrong think but rather shutting down the playground because he realised some people weren't mature enough for the discussion.

Inflammatory and poorly thought out comments that I expect to see in these kinds of forums are what I was referring to. I value this community as being better than your average online gaming community, but I still sometimes see toxic comments on this site.

Relying entirely on the community to maintain a productive discussion without any moderation is not always possible, as indicated by the last quoted paragraph. The most extreme measure is shutting down the platform completely. Directing the discussion slightly without it having to be understood as censorship can go a long way.

If it's still unclear, I agree with your original post and your comment should not have been censored.

I feel like instead of doing something like that, I'd be much happier if they buffed up the bad buffs. I mean, some of the Commons are just useless like Deep Meditation which almost never works except maybe once per run. Another choice would be adding exclusive starting buffs and, of course making that choosable. I just don't think it feels right to make it so that you can pick the first buff when the options just become redundant with the Epic buffs.

Hearthstone is not a pool I will introduce my children to expecting them not to get pissed on.

But compared to the toxic waste dump that is LoL, DotA, Counterstrike, and even pokemon, I'm fairly happy to know that at very least I don't have to start explaining to my child what kind of world is it we live in.

Considering its one of the topics that likely to piss everyone, right or left, off its been remarkably contained.

I don't know about other games and communities (and I don't care) but sadly HS is full of hateful people. We are amazed when someone adds us as friends and doesn't start insulting. We all need to change how we feel about other players, despite gender, country or class the opponent uses.

Maybe they could implement being able to choose your first buff/power out of all possible ones as a separate option. So those who prefer the roguelike rng element can still pick one out of 3 options, and those who prefer to start with whatever power they want won't have to reroll so many times.

To be clear, I don't think they specifically pressued Regis or Kripp, but rather they called all the relevant streamers in and told them "this is going to happen, whether you want it or not, do we have any volunteers?"

And both of them decided that they minded the least.

I mean, if none of them wanted to give up their slots, what do you think would have happened?

All I'm saying is that if you have to enforce "equality" by just replacing creators so you get those sweet statistics you're basically just putting on a show and have no actual concern for the people involved, just your own image.

Well you say that, but when I get a brand new suped up ultra powerful laptop, I like to stress test it with the most demanding tasks possible.  So I go to hearthpwn and see how many minutes it takes to load.    :P :P

Can blizz really pressure someone as high up the food chain as Kripp? I doubt it. Regis perhaps, but Kripp is among one of the biggest names in hearthstone, and if he says he ain't moving for someone else, he's not going to, and not even blizz can nudge him off.

Also, as you have stated, its not really a big deal for blizz to just break 2 extra slots. Yeah, that poster is going to look really weird, but they can do that. But if two streamers comes up and says they're taking a break, then its really blizz's call on this one, and evidently they made a choice to replace them with two female streamers. Its not about two women pushing two men off a cliff, its about two men stepping down and blizz replacing them with two women.

Besides which, its hard to say its 'tyranny of the mediocre' when you consider that one of the replacements is literally a GM. There's obviously no qualifications to be part of this event, so what exactly is wrong with a 50-50 representation, if indeed we even get there at all.

Hate speech is subjective. Freedom of speech is absolute.

Possible, however this whole mode is literally a challenge in itself, so yeah idk how many in fact think like that. To me and my friends it´s just crucial that you start with a useful buff, because all the other choices from there are RNG, which is fine. Just the first one should choosable imo

You seem to not consider the fact that someone HAD to go. They literally just could have added more creator slots but they deliberately went with "this needs to be less dudes, so some of you better step up"

I have no issue with promoting smaller creeators, but not if it's at the cost of people who already earned their place.
