I know Magic has a "Venus and Mercury League" (VML) open only to marginalized genders (women, trans, gays) sponsored by Wizards. Right now, there's a 4-month gap in competitive Hearthstone between the World Championship and Grandmasters. I'd love it if Blizzard would use that time to promote a similar league to the VML.

I'm consistently impressed with Jia's analytical abilities, and her masterful dissection of this representation issue is further proof that she has the talent to become one of the best casters in the business. I hope Blizzard recognizes that talent and will continue to give her the opportunity to develop her career.

Two bad opinions in one, feelsweirdman

To all the fragile, immature man babies out there who are openly against any kind of news like this, I really hope you can get a dose of reality and grow up.  The world is an insanely vast, complex, and diverse place, and to live your life making a fuss over the gender of someone playing a video is one of the worst ways to waste your short time here. We already have to deal with general society trying to shove us into a category of loners, losers, lonely virgin nerds playing with kids toys, we don’t need them to latch onto this trait as the core of what gamers are.  Grow up, play a game you like, leave your toxic bullshit in the toilet. 

And to the women out there trying to play in this toxic environment I sincerely empathize with you.  I’m a father of a daughter who loves video games, and I’m hoping that when she’s old enough to get into the community of gaming and multiplayer games that there has been a shift in the environment for her. I want this for all women now, and the future gamers. We can fix this.

Well, considering how the game went sideways with the rng after the classic era, i pretty much enjoy it much more. Also, blizzard knew that not implementing classic leads to lower playerbase since many people hated playing the game for a few years now.

This is exactly what they did in WOW. Compare everything after pandaria to TBC. Also cataclysm was a hybrid, very nice before the dungeon nerfs.

I definitely feel your pain with regards to not having the dust to craft the "good" cards in a deck. Tickatus is definitely a bugger right now for any control deck to face. I haven't tested a lot of Control in the current meta, but have you thought about including sticky deathrattle minions like Cairne or a big value minion like Ysera the Dreamer (apologies if Priest already runs these, like I said I haven't tested much Control)? Nice to see that Blizzard is opening up spots for more representation. Remember that in the newest expansion, they made a nonbinary character (Varden Dawngrasp) and invited a trans voice actress (Kayleigh McKee) to voice them.

That's what I thought when it was announced, and I'm not overly interested in the mode, but Vicious Syndicate had an interesting meta report that indicates that Classic may not have been as solved as we thought. It's still mostly solved though. I started playing a month or two after Naxx released and the oppressive meta I remember was Undertaker Hunter and Undertaker Zoolock. It seems that Hunter and Zoolock are much weaker in Classic than folks remember. Miracle Rogue also apparently has a negative win-rate at lower ranks, but has an insane WR at Legend ranks. Which is sort of a cool self-challenge - play the decklist and measure your WR over time since the ceiling is very high. I'm pleased enough with the mode even if I don't play it often, and for me it's a proof-of-concept of separate ladders with separate pools of "identical" cards. They can get a lot more creative with these modes in the future (but man do I hope they redesign the UI of the game chest).

Love the decks. I've been debating crafting E.T.C., God of Metal. Crafted Overlord Saurfang day one as I love the design. Been running a more midrange  deck with Taurajo Brave and Barrens Blacksmith.  Really fun cards. 

I don't own Rokara either but every time I've discovered her she has felt really good.

Also been enjoying Death Speaker Blackthorn and the rest of the package in wild. It's been a blast at low ranks.

I like the discussion from Jia, which actually made some sense as to why there this air of toxicity against women in gaming. Fact of the matter is that there really isn't alot of representation from women in tournaments, which is indirectly or directly creating this mistaken impression that mistreating women in the gaming world is something they can get away with.

Maybe blizz should start thinking about opening a womens only tournament for qualifying to worlds. That way we're always going to be guaranteed some women representation in the biggest tourney every year, and provide them with an opportunity to prove themselves against the best in the world.

As for the invitational, I genuinely feel that blizz made a mistake in not inviting more women into the field, seeing that its not only the right thing to do, its also good on pr, as well attracting more would-be players as I'm fairly certain the men's category are more or less fully saturated while the women's are not. Its an invitational after all, and since the ones invited are not even the best in the world, its clearly not related to skill so what sort of excuse is there to not at least have a 50-50 representation. Its not like there's not enough female hearthstone streamers who could use the publicity.
