For the time being, I'd like to echo Demon's advice that everybody should check the Discussion Thread and start communicating with other people to avoid these situations
While that would have been the ideal scenario, not everyone has the time, nor wants to participate in the discussion, even just skimming through what could have already been thrown out there. And that is fair. Yes, it can result in a bad cases of seeming plagiarism, but we cannot avoid that sadly, and thankfully, the community so far has been honest enough that those cases are extremely rare.
If we for example were to make it mandatory that you had to look through discussion thread for what others already came up with before you submit, i think that could potentially discourage ppl from submitting, which would in the end hurt the competition as a whole.
If we see an increase in ppl seemingly copying ideas of others, there will be steps taken.
We need a better term for cards that vaguely follow the format, "if this works, it's too powerful for the game." Cards like Sword of the Fallen are just strong. The mechanics are easily understood, and even after a nerf, it'll still be a strong card even if it's more balanced. But something like the Watch Towers or Deck of Lunacy are way harder to evaluate, but if they work, it's broken. It's why Tickatus is so controversial. He's not that good, but if he becomes good, it's not just a matter of a strong card shining in a particular meta (a lot of aggro cards fit this bill - remember when Nightblade briefly became meta? Or recently Worgen Infiltrator in Rogue), but of a specialized mechanic that is unfair if it becomes too consistent.
It has barely been 12 hours and you guys are already complaining. Chill and let the meta settle a bit more.
The complaint is that there is no "settling" to be done because there was no shake-up in the first place. They succeeded in knocking Rogue out of the 3rd-place spot, and that's about it. Lunacy is as bad as ever because they did not address the actual problems with that card, and Paladin was already oppressive before the secret package got added, so nerfing the sword only takes the class from god tier to demigod tier, still ridiculously strong.
All of your problems in Hearthstone boil down to this excuse. Stop merely "hedging" and start making an effort to actually improve. Good players make their own "luck." (Sarcasm quotes because luck has nothing to do with it -- it only appears to be luck to those who don't know what's really going on.)
Obviously I should play around and draw RNG and my opponent discovering the perfect answer all the time. Obviously I'm just bad and not because it's a card game where most outcomes are based around luck and random generation that you or your opponent can do nothing about it but because "I should have played around it"
That is actually more correct than you probably believe. Until you accept the fact that the universe is not working against you (no more than anyone else, anyway), no other advice can help you.
Because this is not a twitch game. It's a strategic turn-based game where deliberate consideration of all the angles is more important than speed. Not to mention, there are members of the player base with actual disabilities, for whom high-apm plays are impossible. There is no reason to exclude those players by needlessly catering to apm-worshippers.
If you want a high-apm variant of Hearthstone, you have Battlegrounds.
It does make some sense, considering Kargal cannot be played at all without the nerfed cards, and the nerfed cards totally suck now. But I wouldn't expect to see this kind of generosity very often where indirect nerfs are concerned.
It was probably a mistake to create such a tightly knit package of cards in the first place. They got away with it with C'Thun by making the enablers very mediocre and by giving C'Thun away for free. Now they are forced to give Kargal away for free, in a retroactive sort of way.
Awesome move. After I low-rolled just 4 legendaries in 100 packs on release day, I opened him in golden from the season reward packs on 1st April. Means two legendaries of choice for me now :)
Very solid card, especially after the changes. It has great art, a fitting name and an interesting effect. Might very well have been printed in RL if not for the shared time in standard with Plot Twist. Well done!
Wailor
Super cool idea, I like it a lot! My only concern is the art. While I like the Dragon, it looks like you fotoshopped her into the … swamp? jungle? If that is the case, a better background might fit her better. I'm fine with the stats.
Demon
Your new idea looks better, but I'm still not thrilled. Maybe I'm lacking the imgaination to immediately grasp what would make me want to play this other than simply being in Genn and Baku's set. Sorry :/ And thank you very much for explaining how to label the spoilers, that looks so cool :)
linkblade
I very much prefer Ultimate Redemption. Very shiny, very strong, lots of fun to play. I'm totally fine with making it a dual class card. The one minor issue I see is that the art doesn't fit Scholomance very well. Effect+art is good, Effect+Expansion is okay, but Art+Expansion is off.
Karmin
Very nice idea! If you give it another watermark, I'm happy :)

Regarding the plagiarism, I did already talk to Shadows about Dreavus. He came to the conclusion that there unfortunately wasn't enough evidence for it to be an intentional case of plagiarism given the fact that it uses worse wording and the person who made the card has no prior history of plagiarizing other cards.
Given another parameter he told me, I narrowed it down to only one possible person. But for the sake of not wanting to "witch hunt" against that person, I will not give out the name.
This was my free legendary. And just like someone else said i used it in a clunky deck that wasnt very good. But sometimes when I played him it was a decent swing. Still not gonna miss him when hes gone though, but I might keep the watch posts. For some reason my opponents think they do something.
It's actually comical how the Lunacy nerf did none of what they set out to do.
They stated that a full RNG card like this shouldn't ever be part of a tier 1 competitive strategy, so instead of just curbing the RNG part down to manageable level (let's say lower the mana discount to 2 or even 1 which still keeps it as a meme card) they just made it even more of a highroll because you still just win if you get to play it on curve.
So essentially the only decks that can beat No Minion Mage are the same ones that already could and the decks it absolutely rolls over with no counterplay because they can't outpace 0-mana draw 4 or turn 5 Nagrand Slam.
Honestly, this nerf patch feels like one of the biggest failures they've done so far. Basically all the currently playyed archetypes either completely steamroll their good matchups or hopelessly flounder against their bad ones. There is no middleground. It'S peak Rock Paper Scissors.
Okay, thanks for the feedback everyone! I've altered the cost and stats of Chaotic Notetaker to a 5-cost 4/4 to address the issue of activating Supreme Archaeology too early and consistently. I personally believe that the higher cost, the fact it's spellburst so it actually requires two cards to activate the effect (the notetaker himself plus a spell, thus reducing the total amount of cards the effect redraws) makes this card more balanced. Hope you all agree too.

I mean, this is what Brightwing should’ve been. Really forces the opponent (and you if you haven’t built your deck right) to go down a minion combat route for removal, or just massive board clears, or even to go face. Yeah, I really like this card.

Big Paladin is my favourite deck (not the broken from Darkmoon Races, the less good one) and this really kicks it into gear. I’m assuming you summon your own minions and your opponent summons theirs and it’s not a random mashup? Honestly, hands down, favourite card so far.

God the card-copying f***ing sucks dude, maybe one solution could be to include “reading the discussion thread, even if you don’t participate in the actual discussion itself” as part of the common ruleset in each competition. I don’t know how to actively solve the issue but this sort of discourages card-copying.
As for the card itself, I quite like this. Temporary disabling of your opponent’s hero power is neat, but obviously the drawback is that you disable yours too temporarily. Makes me think of Mindbreaker. Honestly, nice card.
In two different games I've played Deck of Lunacy and encountered some issues with spell cost and other cards that should have changed the cost of the spells. I know there were issues previously with cards that were shuffled back into the deck or otherwise manipulated via Secret Passage, but I've never seen this one before.
The first was with Celestial Alignment. I played the card and happened to have minions and spells in hand. The minions were properly reduced to 1 mana, but the spells, all of which had been previously altered by Deck of Lunacy, retained their DoL mana cost. I did not have the chance check to see if this was a display bug or an actual spell cost bug.
The second was with Power Word Fortitude. Again, I had the spell generated by DoL, which made it a 5 cost spell. It is supposed to reduce in cost by each spell in hand. I had many spells in hand which should have reduced it to 1 or 0 mana cost, but it remained at 5. I did not try casting it to see if it was a display bug or not.

While grinding the Invigorating Sermon achievement in Wild, I managed to get the "Toss me!" achievement along the way. How I did that is up to your imagination. Any guesses? :D
I'm not sure I quite understand the effect. Do both players draw a card, then get a copy of the card the other player drew, so they end up "drawing" 2 cards each?
cool move and i'm happy because this is the most boring legendary in the history of hearthstone. got it in a pack and can exchange it for something actually useful.
Spell Mage is still pretty strong. The problem is that there hasn't been any aggro deck that has risen in play that could counter it, due to the fact that a lot of control decks (Warlock, Priest, and Warrior) are now seeing play. Still waiting on a Demon Hunter deck, though I did get absolutely killed by this Deathrattle DH that had Illidari Inquisitor as its finisher.

I think it's safe to say everyone got their packs (for those who watched GMs ofc)
Definitely has more cons compared to twitch drops, but I don't think YouTube has really put much focus on streaming drops yet. Time will tell
