So we now have official confirmation that, not only are the events of Hearthstone stets in their own version of the WoW universe, but this universe also has an official timeline the developers are keeping in mind as they further the Hearthstone story.,Bbut why was this change to the Hearthstone timeline made? I can think of a couple of reasons.
I am loving the fact that the Hearthstone team has been developing their own lore for a few years now -- The League of Explorers, alternate versions of heroes and villains, the gangs of Gadgetzan, the League of E.V.I.L., the resurrection of Galakrond, and now the Night of Falling Stars. We even have hints of this process on the mechanical side: hand buffing for hunters and warriors has returned from Gadgetzan.
In the stream, they actually complained a couple times at the beginning about how painful it was going to be playing this way (required to put all items on Taliyah).
I've enjoyed warrior this expansion. I use a handbuff deck as well with Overlord Saurfang as a finisher. Also thinking of pushing N'Zoth, God of the Deep maybe. It's been real fun and can conquer some of the harder matchups with Paladin and Mage. It's not perfect but been a blast. Nice to see it get a spot light here.
Overlord Runthak is by far my favorite card this expansion and he isn't even part of the Expansion. Just such a fun card. This is what Don Han'Cho wanted to be.
I actually do the latter a lot. I DM some D&D games set in Hearthstone settings because I think it has a great infrastructure for really creative boss fights and fun world-building. Previously I ran a lot of short-form campaigns based on Kobolds and Catacombs (coming full circle), but I'm currently running a long-form campaign based on The Witchwood. Requires a bit of blowing up and zooming in on some otherwise non-characters to help set world-building (ie. Pumpkin Peasant and Tanglefur Mystic as notable NPCs), but it's worked out fantastic so far!
We won't be adding rarity colors to name text, it just kinda looks like vomit and anyone else generating similar images isn't doing it as well (I assume for similar reasons).
The biggest issue with having the card images stand out more is it gets a bit busy. There were many iterations of these images with different levels of opacity. Some cards look really good with a brighter look, but others not as much. The current version is what I would consider being a good overall compromise.
Several cards don't even look great alone because crops aren't even good. Some art just can't be cropped good to fit in a small line like that, you see this even in the in-game collection manager. You've also got spells that aren't even immediately identifiable by image since you aren't used to seeing them always since they don't sit on the in-game field. There's a lot of reasons why crops aren't great and are really only there to break things up a bit and make the images less dull.
Sidenotes:
Doing mana costs is something I am considering adding. We could pull an HSR with it and use that to indicate the rarity of a card.
I'd like short links up on the images so people know where they can grab the deck code should the image get shared around without the deck url.
Dust costs also need to be added.
I want to get archetype-specific backgrounds because it would look much more awesome.
The only risk is having to do a lot of updating when rotations happen due to card changes.
Less of an issue for a deck like "Watch Post Rogue" where we aren't likely to get other watch posts, but "Freeze Mage" could easily see very different ideas.
I'm inclined to agree with you on Mean Streets at least. I really wish they'd update it in WoW to match the Hearthstone version and then make it a xpac hub, lol. Or you could just created a spin-off single-player game set there. I'd love that as well. Oooo, or how about a pen and paper RP game like D&D or Blades in the Dark?
I'm glad everyone without premium enjoyed our premium trial today!
I believe all outstanding issues with premium have been fixed at this point (other than the annoying one that resets your profile cosmetics every month). The last one with everyone having premium was an oversight a simple conditional check fixed.
I know it's not official, but Hearthstone has such great ideas with sets that I make them my own head canon. Scholomance and Mean Streets are fine examples of good world building in places that needed it.
'They' has been a perfectly valid way to refer to a single person in English for a long time (since the 14th Century according to Wikipedia). So no, nobody is changing the language by using 'they' in the singular, they're just making it more common than before. (Not that changing the language would even be a bad thing. The idea that languages don't evolve over time is flawed, and English generally embraces change.)
Meanwhile, calling someone 'it' is going to be interpreted as an insult, no matter how well-meaning you might be. The appropriate definition my 7th Edition paperback Oxford English dictionary (2012) is: referring to an animal or child of unspecified sex. Note it explicitly says child, ruling out use for adults. Not everyone would be offended by being called 'it' (I know I wouldn't be), but it's best not to use it for people.
Since the retirement of basic and classic sets, brawl rewards are now meant to be year of the phoenix packs, which contain cards from any of last year's expansions.
You only corrupt it after playing Humble Blessings using either your Truesilver Champion or Stand against Darkness. Most of the time though, even a 3 mana summon 3 3/3s is good enough, and it's not needed to be corrupted.

Agree, the shape her hand is in is quite odd and looks very painful.
Also, I think the first picture of the set of three for Tamsin better illustrates that they may be the same.

When you're undead, that sort of thing doesn't really matter so much. No working nerves=no pain from straining or dislocation.
