The nerfing method they are oblivious to is tweaking the draw rate of an overpowered card. Take example of many broken cards that have gained a mana cost and have fell into oblivion, Spiteful Summoner an example. The better solution is to simply adjust the rate it can be drawn from deck. Right now every card has a 1/X chance of being drawn X being deck size. I believe that for over-performers they should occur less, thus carrying decks less consistently.
This already sort of exists in the game in Arena where outlying classes get worse drops and weaker ones get better drafts. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to apply this to the general game where, sure, you can add Secret Passage but just know that it occurs just 4%* less in a draw than your other cards will. There can even be written an algorithm where the more a card is performing inside of these constraints it automatically adjusts itself a % or two accordingly to the point where the problem takes care of itself.
A hyperbolic example would be if there came to be a card that read, "1 mana: deal 30 damage to the enemy hero" the card would eventually be so reduced in draw rate you had a 1% chance of even drawing it, making it a pretty much useless card (not counting tutoring ofc). By this means, Skull of Guldan doesnt have to be nerfed into oblivion it just doesn't show up quite as much.
As far as I am concerned this is the natural remedy to this ongoing problem and they certainly have the brains to whip up a method of implementing this and everybody wins: people who want to play the broken cards can still play them in all their glory and people who hate them get to see them less often.
* number was originally 15% which admittedly is way too high
Also, there has to be a way to break this card in wild. Let me know if any of you find it.
Edit: With Spirit of the Shark, this reduces the cost of both cards by 6 right? If so, 6 mana is the cost of Spectral Pillager. I'll just let Dane take it from there.
Chef Nomi saw play and his effect was also back breaking as you had to basically spend you mana to destroy your deck. I'm not saying Kargal Battlescar is amazing, I'm just saying he's not the worst thing ever.
And to the WoW guys around: are there any watch posts in alliance settlements? If there are, that could mean these watch post thingys aren't just a one and done deal.
I feel like Mor'shan Watch Post can be used against minion based tempo decks the way Ogremancer can be used against spell based tempo decks, as a tech to make them bleed. Not amazing, but nor terrible.
If anything, against minion decks, he's like a 3/5 Taunt with an upside.
For aggro lists, I don't see this as a 1 mana 9 damage, that's on turn 10 and if you're on turn 10, you lost. I see this as a 1 mana Fireball on turn 5, that's where you want that sweet burst to the face.
Powerful cost reduction effect, but it's a late game one. You need to combo into this and only then into your other combo cards. Not saying Scabbs Cutterbutter, he looks powerful, but I don't feel rogues will have their entire gameplan around him.
I feel like Warrior should get at least 2 more Frenzy minions in the expansion alone. Not only that, there's also the mid-expansion mini set that could give us extra synergies for this card.
New Rogue Weapon - Swinetusk Shank
Rogue weapon slot is pretty contested. Not sold that this will be run over the Sword and others
New Rogue Minion - Scabbs Cutterbutter
It basically gain 2 mana with a 3/3 body. Yeah its good
Should Blizzard Adjust Draw Rates of Over-performing Cards?
This was in response to Zeddy's video today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBmmACAz8j8 I just felt like sharing my response here because I really have no life XD

Blizzard Reveals a New Forged in the Barrens Legendary Rogue Card - Scabbs Cutterbutter

Blizzard Reveals a New Forged in the Barrens Legendary Rogue Card - Scabbs Cutterbutter
I love this card. Everything about it. Even the name I love it too.
New Rogue Weapon - Swinetusk Shank
Decent weapon. Mini Kingsbane. Will probably see some play. Keeping an eye on future poisons for this card for sure.
New Neutral Minion - Crossroads Watch Post
So, if you're winning, Crossroads Watch Post is a small insurance policy against AoE. That's the only thing I see that can give it some use.
New Neutral Minion - Kargal Battlescar
Chef Nomi saw play and his effect was also back breaking as you had to basically spend you mana to destroy your deck. I'm not saying Kargal Battlescar is amazing, I'm just saying he's not the worst thing ever.
And to the WoW guys around: are there any watch posts in alliance settlements? If there are, that could mean these watch post thingys aren't just a one and done deal.
New Rogue Minion - Scabbs Cutterbutter
Looks real strong. Scabbs definitely going to be a staple for most rogue decks.
New Neutral Minion - Mor'shan Watch Post
I feel like Mor'shan Watch Post can be used against minion based tempo decks the way Ogremancer can be used against spell based tempo decks, as a tech to make them bleed. Not amazing, but nor terrible.
If anything, against minion decks, he's like a 3/5 Taunt with an upside.
New Paladin Spell - Conviction (Rank 1)
For aggro lists, I don't see this as a 1 mana 9 damage, that's on turn 10 and if you're on turn 10, you lost. I see this as a 1 mana Fireball on turn 5, that's where you want that sweet burst to the face.
New Priest Minion - Xyrella
Ah, so this is why Circle of Healing isn't in the core set.

New Rogue Weapon - Swinetusk Shank
This can actually be good if we get good poison support
New Rogue Minion - Scabbs Cutterbutter
This card is actually one of the best I've ever seen for rogue.
Meet the Mercenaries - All of Hearthstone's 10 Fresh Characters For Year of the Gryphon
I doubt they would make such uninspired spells for them, especially considering how there are already ranked spells that do similar things.
New Rogue Weapon - Swinetusk Shank
Don't put all your chips into this weapon, it'll just get oozed away, especially if rogue keeps being top tier.
New Warrior Minion - Rokara
Do me trade? Nope!
Me go face? Yup!
Me retard? Nope!
Me am smart? Yup!
Meet the Mercenaries - All of Hearthstone's 10 Fresh Characters For Year of the Gryphon
Don't know anyfin about WOW, but this IS an interesting fact! Thanks! :)
New Warrior Minion - Overlord Saurfang
I feel like Warrior should get at least 2 more Frenzy minions in the expansion alone. Not only that, there's also the mid-expansion mini set that could give us extra synergies for this card.
As for the Frenzy minions already revealed, I believe the best target for Overlord Saurfang to ressurret might actually be Razormane Raider of all things. Blademaster Samuro's extra AoE is probably too small for 7 mana, Warsong Envoy gains a lot of attack but is mostly just an Ice Rager in terms of stats and Barrens Blacksmith is powerful but is just not as fast as a 5 random damage burst Razormane Raider provides. Sure, Razormane Raider sucks, but he's the fastest effect in here.
New Rogue Weapon - Swinetusk Shank
I'm having flashbacks to undying weapons like the spectral cutlass...
but no lifesteal so i think this will be a good card
New Paladin Spell - Conviction (Rank 1)
Dude paladin is back, and hopefully it's enough to overtake Libram/Holy paladin
New Hunter Minion - Sunscale Raptor
Oh no it's pogo, but self shuffling
