  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

  • New Shaman Spell - Chain Lightning (Rank 1)

Good card on its own, but I love even more when they add cards that force your opponent to place minions to play around.

  • New Neutral Minion - Blademaster Samuro

So many possibilities here... I think that any controlly deck with a way to buff this or synergize will play, it's a great tempo swing against any aggro or swarm deck for sure.

  • New Warlock Spell - Imp Swarm (Rank 1)

On its own, it's probably just a swarm spell for zoolock. However, I'd be interested if it comes with a demon package this expansion, might be cool to see.

  • Hearthstone's Stonetusk Boar and Bluegill Warrior are Moving to Wild and Retain Charge - Two New Minions to Replace Them in the Core Set

Alright, Anyfin Can Happen Paladin is saved! Nice. Stonetusk Boar isn't losing charge and will be super strong alongside The Caverns Below... NOOO!!..

I'm really happy that Bluegill Warrior didn't get it's charge removed, but i'm sad that Stonetusk Boar keeps charge. Stonetusk Boar is i.m.o. too problematic because it's always 1 good card away from being able to become oppresive or to give rise to a really unfun strategy. Bluegill Warrior kinda has the same thing going on, but because it costs 1 more mana it's probably a bit harder to try use in the same kind of combos as Stonetusk Boar.

Btw, for those probably screaming: "But it's in wild now, those combos won't be that strong after they print 1 synergistic card!", well look back at what pre-nerf Hysteria did to Wretched Tiller. That "one card" turned a bad 1 drop that pretty much never saw play, into a really unfun combo piece.

Even after everything i just said, i'm happy they listened to the community. That feels pretty good, and it feels even better considering the fact that most of the complaining came from the Wild community! Normally they ignore Wild and it's community a lot, but the fact that they listened now is amazing!

  • New Hunter Minion - Sunscale Raptor

    Fatigue hunter anyone ?

  • New Druid Minion - Druid of the Plains

Strong card in standard, I totally expect to see it being played as it allows for both clear and protection. Furthermore, it's probably broken in arena (but who cares?)

I'm sorry, but I'm not a big fan. I don't get the relation between Balance, the guy in the art and Treants. Without a twist to the flavor of the card, summoning Treants is a bit boring for my taste.

Nice idea! It might be too complicated to win the competition, but I like your thoughts about bringing together the synergies from the Core set.

Your card looks very strong. I'm not a big fan of the art and also one of those guys who have a problem with applying the wrong watermark though.

Kor'kron Immolator is too close to Pyromaniac for my taste. I'm also surprised to see a Kor'kron in Mage, but then I'm a lore noob and there's a story behind this I don't know about. Abundance looks interesting, but it might be too strong at 3. Arcane Intellect draws you two random cards while your card tutors specific ones and grants Armor on top of that.

I think the Fire Spell pool is too small for a card like Ilxos right now. The Gnome looks more interesting and fits the Casino Mage theme. There could be more flavor with a balancing character like in Nirast's Mistress cards.

Herald of Flame would be almost impossible to play in Standard with only Fireball and Flamestrike having the Fire tag right now. Herald of Light has better chances to see his condition fulfilled and brings just as much flavor without stepping on Jan'alai's toes. You could even make it dual-class.

I really like the art and "Inquisitor" seems more fitting to me than "Instructor". The first effect looks better to me, nice synergy for Discolock.

I really like the idea of the three Mistresses being put together in a single card so that all classes can use them. It's strong but not OP, it's versatile and it's very flavorful. Cool idea!

  • We're Getting New Hearthstone Achievements With "Sweet" Rewards Based on Your Rewards Track Leveling

It's not supposed to, but it actually does, at least a little.

Playing against someone you realize paid for their cards makes losing a tad less annoying and winning a tad better. Playing against a deck that's factually better than yours but you cant afford to build because you're F2P is less frustrating (also, just a tad less).

  • New Priest Minion - Natalie Seline

    Quote From FortyDust

She's not just removal, though. She's removal on a very threatening stick.

It seems like we're about to see a lot of big dragons flying around with their fat 12-health bodies. A 4/12 can be a nightmare for Priest to deal with unless they have something like this.

Coerce, Hex, Shadow Word: Death, Shadow Word: Ruin, Siphon Soul, Deadly Shot, Shield Slam, Execute, Plague Scientist, Ironbeak Owl, Snap Freeze, Malevolent Strike, Libram of Justice, Assassinate, Brittlebone Destroyer, Cascading Disaster, and more

All of these cards cost 5 or less and destroy or silence it and deal with it accordingly. This card is way too slow. Only good in a curvestone arena type of meta. Obviously it can be amazing to discover as well. Very situational card though and not much room to fit it in to your priest list.

Some potential shenigans with the card that combines both Arcane spells and Hero Power synergies present in the new Core set. Note that the replaced Hero Power has the same Cost as the spell you cast to get the new Hero Power, so there's a limit of spells to abuse with this card. Also a note to new Arcane Secrets - because you already have them in play, your Hero Power becomes essentially useless, because you can't have two of the same Secret.

Wooohooo I'm so happy season 3 has finally started :))

Here's something I had in mind for Scholomance because of flavor and Spell Damage synergies. Since Fireball and Flamestrike are both Fire Spell School spells, I guess this would qualify? But then, Pyroblast isn't part of the Core set... whelp, let's hope they'll reveal a Fire spell during the week. <- obviously wouldn't help because I can't put Barren's cards in a Scholomance card. So I'm down to Fireball and Flamestrike, might as well drop the cost to 3 I guess.

  • Custom Class - Time Traveler (Updated February 17th - Return to Naxxramas added!)

Future Sight: This card is broken to me this is often a better version of Tracking

Manaweaver : It has no tribe so giving this minion +1 health shouldn't be much of an issue and that makes it an instant staple in nearly all time traveler decks I like the idea of it.

Accelerate Time : Solid card in the late game  for control/midrange to draw something like Black Hole at turn 10 and be able to play it since the cost is reduced. Not to mention you activate quick-time with card draw.

Portalwraith : Doesn't seem too great to me, it depends on how strong elementals are in the meta but the card just seems a little awkward to have quick-time on it. It's not really worth copying so you would have to rely on drawing it but cards like Future sight will help you achieve that. A 2 mana 2/3 draw a card isn't too good after turn 3 especially with a condition on it. It would be good if you could tutor something with it. Maybe make it draw a quick-time card or draw an elemental. Either or.

Cyber Punk : I don't know if this card is broken or not but I love it, seems like a lot of fun I would want to play this after a big aoe Black Hole

Harness Time : A balanced draw spell this can be slow for 4 mana but at least it's balanced, you could even add quick-time draw 3 but that might be demon hunter levels of broken, maybe even quick-time reduce by 2 instead.

Quicksand : It's a 4 mana sap but it disrupts your opponent's card draw that's actually really strong. This card may need to be bumped to 5 mana. Also you can target your own minion, don't know why you would do that but interesting nonetheless.

Sandstorm : A balanced aoe card not much needs to be said, good card.

Sapphire Maiden :  A good 5 drop. 4/5 5 drop minions like these can be kind of slow but the trade off of copying one of the 3 cards at the top of your deck makes it a solid card.

Bullet Time : It sounds good but the problem is a lot of the quick-time effects in the core set are worded in way that make it seem like this card wouldn't trigger them. Black Hole destroys enemy minions for it's quick-time effect so Bullet Time wouldn't really be useful since it's for "this turn". Tomb Guardian is a 6 mana 5/7 and all it does is shuffle a copy in your deck and shuffling an ogre with taunt in your deck isn't that great either unless you're able to buff it I suppose if it summons an exact copy. The point is Bullet Time doesn't have any good targets so this card seems like it would be in a very specific deck with a specific card is looks to trigger.

Parallel Dimensions : A solid card that activates the quick-time effects of any cards you draw. If you play them that turn that is, Drawing something like Black Hole would be useless as it is too expensive. Maybe add reduce the cost of drawn cards by 1 to this.

Quick Strike : You could have made this a nature card but it is still a great card nonetheless. We all seen the havoc Rogue brought with a 0 mana deal 4.

Tomb Guardian : If you draw this as a 6 mana 5/7 it isn't good. If you're able to buff it or reduce the cost enough it has potential maybe but I don't think this is great. If you can't reduce this to a good cost it's just average at best. I think Quick-time: summon a copy of this minion might be better.

Temporal Golem : Good 3 drop not much else to say I was gonna call it insane until I remembered Paladin has Goody Two-Shields...

Black Hole : It's power creeped Twisting Nether but I still like it. Solid card.

Starace, Solar Entity : It has the potential to be insane but it can be underwhelming at times if you don't discover anything good. It has a mech tag too which seemed kind of random but a mech that discovers mechs would be great with this. I don't know how good discovering a 1/1 mech would be though. Maybe some strong mech deathrattle deck with this and discovering multiple Staraces that would be cool.

One thing I will say is I feel the early game of the core set needs to be tightened up. Which is why I really recommend that Manaweaver change to add +1 hp to it and maybe even giving it a tribe.

That's my feedback on your core set.

(Just coded your cards all red because it was more simple for me)

    It begins!

  • Colourful Casting - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I'm ready for a new season!

Abundance can help out spell druid, but can also help a deck that runs of nature spells survive the loss of tempo that comes with drawing cards.  The Druid nature spells are mainly midrange-y so far and this could help such a deck refuel.  I made Abundance itself a nature spell so you could run two copies in a deck full of nature spells without whiffing.

Kor'kron Immolator rewards using spells such as Fireball and Flamestrike by drawing cards.  In the case of Flamestrike, you could draw multiple cards if you kill a bunch of minions at once.  I'm sure there will be fire spells for mage to run besides these two.

    Feedback!

    Show Spoiler
Demonxz95 - The second option seems …. weak?  I dunno, but I feel like you need at least three nature spells in your hand for that option to be worth it, which seems hard to do.  It seems likely that you're holding only one or two by the time this card comes down, since you will most likely be playing some nature cards on curve instead of holding them in your hand.

Fedrion - I feel like this card is quite underpowered, similar in power level to Demented Frostcaller as a whole but working only with frost spells.  Also, aren't frost spells supposed to freeze anyway, so the first part isn't going to affect anything?  I would lean into the second part more, something like "After you cast a Frost spell, deal 3 damage to all Frozen minions." to make the effect more clean rules wise.  I echo KANSAS's concern about the stat distribution.

Nirast - I like the idea of multiple evolves in one turn, but Natural Evolution is clunky in my opinion.  You need a board to set up, multiple nature spells in hand, and at least 5-6 mana when you could have played Desert Hare and Evolve.  Also, Natural Evolution sounds more like a druid card.

Frost King Malakk seems weird to me. Shaman isn't a main fire spell class and the card wants you to freeze your own minions with nature spells, but nature spells will likely kill your minions before they can be buffed.

Of the Mistresses, I like the one on the right the best, because it fits the best with the classes that want to run it.

BloodMefist - I like Vile Instructor a lot.  I would consider having it summon one minion with those stats instead of having it spread wide, but I like it as is. Cruel Inquistor is a little weird because spells don't have attack, unless you mean if it summons a minion with that attack. Also, we don't have that many fel spells yet, so subdividing a spell type seems pretty narrow.

linkblade91 - I feel like Herald of Flame is too dependent on your opponent having enough targets for your fire spells for it to reliably activate.  With Jan'alai, you could activate the hero power each turn or set up an odd mage build.  I like Herald of Light a lot more becuase you can more easily build around it and we don't have a card that generates this version of Ragnaros.

Swizard - Hard to evalutate the first card, power wise.  I think the effect is really cool, reminds me of a Tess Greymane a bit, but I could see this being a super Pyroblast.  I rather not have this target only minions, as it makes it reads more like Reno the Relicologist and that card looked underwhelming at first glance. I would try to think of some other payoff for casting all those spells besides recasting them for balance reasons.

I think the second card is also interesting, but dividing spell types by cost seems kind of narrow.  I think this version is better than adding the spells to your hand, because Nirast has very similar cards in the mistresses.

    Quote From OldenGolden

Ok, when I read this one, I imagine the frenzy effect sends a copy of the card, with a buff, into your deck, which would mean a 3/4 with frenzy that then shuffles a copy of itself into the deck with frenzy, and so on. This being part of an expansion, along with info that all classes will have some access to card draw, means that this guy could end up being seen a LOT. That bit about "permanent" +2/+1 makes me wonder. . . when that 3/4 gets hit and shuffles, is it adding that 2/1 to a 3/4, giving you a 5/5 with frenzy in your deck? That seems kinda bananas, i would assume it's shuffling a 1.0 Sunscale in there, giving you bunches of 3/4 raptors.

Of course, if all this thing does is shuffle a 3/4 raptor with no frenzy, then it's just an ok to good 1 drop.

I am 99.9% certain that "permenent" means it will, in a sense, buff the base stats. Meaning that the shuffled copy won't be a 1/3 with a +2/+1 buff, but a 3/4 with no buff. So yes, the buffs will stack. If they didn't stack the card wouldn't really make sense. And even though it does stack, I don't think it will be OP. By the time you have gotten it to a 1 mana 5/5, you will have had to draw, play, and trigger the same dinosaur 3 times. At the point in the game a 1 mana 5/5 isn't really that crazy.

Yes, "permanent" means it actually changes the card, a lot like Corrupt permanently changes the card.

And if you're drawing this with Scavenger's Ingenuity, it will definitely get crazy.

Good for cycling and control but in all honesty, what would you use this for?

Umm ... you'd use it for cycling and control?

    Was that a trick question?

It serves a purpose similar to that of Armor Vendor, which has been seeing a lot of play in control decks, but being a 0-cost spell makes it a lot more useful to a Priest.

They did add a totem related minion back to Core and Darkmoon did print the ultimate totem, so I suppose they want to continue that archetype somehow. But whether it gets enough tools is indeed the question.
Personally I'll be happy if all that spell damage in Shaman finally amounts to something.
