  • Crafting Hero Portraits in Hearthstone? The Dev Team Has Been Brainstorming It

    TWENTY SEVEN HERE WE COME!!!

  • Some Cards in Hearthstone's New Rotating Core Set Are Dean Ayala's Favourites - Here's Are His Top 10 Favourite Cards

I've always said that Dean is a very fine person. Excellent choice of top cards.

There's a clear, clear obvious choice which one to bring back first!

  • Hearthstone is Actively Looking Into Allowing Players to Upgrade Normal Cards to Their Golden Forms

If they created a "make non golden common/rare/epic/legend card golden" tokens, you could

    • sell 5 (identical) non-goldens for a make golden token
    • sell 1 golden for a make golden token

They could be quest rewards, help people make their golden decks.

For more complexity, they could maybe stack.

    • sell 5 'make common golden' tokens for a 'make rare golden' token

I think that whilst lizzard are listening, someone should point them at this: https://outof.cards/forums/hearthstone/hearthstone-general/2665-tables-a-way-to-play-hearthstone-with-your-own-rules

There's a lot of good ideas in there, with pack sleeves and tokens.

  • Quest Trading - Play A Friend!

    DONE thx

  • Hearthstone Battleground Changes Arriving Soon - Junkbot Tier Change, Khadgar & Brann Triple Nerf, New Races

I'm pretty sure they're only changing how tokens work in the shop-phase (i.e. triples are formed after a battlecry resolves instead of during the battlecry) so Scallywag Exodia will probably still work.

I also expected Junkbot to be removed eventually so I'm surprised they moved it to tier 4 again. I actually think this is quite a big buff to mechs since Junkbot used to be really strong on tier 4, but maybe it'll be more balanced in the current version of Battlegrounds.

  • Hearthstone Battleground Changes Arriving Soon - Junkbot Tier Change, Khadgar & Brann Triple Nerf, New Races

After seeing what they did to Floating Watcher, I thought they'd give the same treatment to Junkbot which arguably needs it much more. Junkbot wasn't doing much and probably won't even if dropped to tier 4, but I'm not sure.

It's a good thing they're changing how Brann/Khadgar work. It's infuriating to play it when you don't hit your pieces and it's infuriating to play against it when someone else hits it. Though I am curious if they changed how tokens work, will Scallywag Exodia still work? Maybe I'm stupid or someone could elaborate it but with how tokens need to spawn first and they don't spawn more doesn't this mean that it won't summon an extra one even after one dies?

  • Hearthstone Battleground Changes Arriving Soon - Junkbot Tier Change, Khadgar & Brann Triple Nerf, New Races

    Fuck sake.

I'm done with Battlegrounds then. Bran/Khadgar is the only fun I have in that mode. Everything else got stale really quickly and I've only been playing since last november.

  • Hearthstone is Actively Looking Into Allowing Players to Upgrade Normal Cards to Their Golden Forms

    Quote From FortyDust

You can already upgrade normal cards into golden. You disenchant the normal one and use the dust (plus a ton more dust) to make the golden one. You can also already use gold to do this. You buy some packs, disenchant what you get, and craft what you want from the dust.

I have trouble believing their "upgrade" system would actually be more cost-effective than that, so I really don't see much point in designing a whole new UI around the process.

I would expect the upgrade cost to be the difference on golden and non-golden crafting costs, rather than golden crafting minus non-golden disenchant.

    So you'd have:

RarityDust for gold - normal disenchantDust for gold - normal crafting
    Common395360
    Rare780700
    Epic15001200
    Legendary28001600

That difference is quite significant and makes it a worthwhile feature, but still keeps golden versions expensive.

I don't dislike Defile at all, but I also wouldn't want it back in Standard. Perhaps I'd be more happy to see it return if I didn't currently hate control warlock because of Tickatus, but as it stands that piece of s*** makes me wish warlock removal was less efficient, not more.

Defile was absolutely fine alongside Rin, the First Disciple (a.k.a. the fair version of Tickatus), who is conveniently on the list, but is probably too good when control warlock's win condition is already so strong and rage-inducing.

Edit: OK, so Bloodreaver Gul'dan was another piece of s*** win condition that was around with Defile... man, I hate warlock designs sometimes -_-

Edit 2: Yeah, I knew I'd get a few downvotes for this one. No regrets though. Tickatus can burn in a pit with all the cards he destroys. I'm (not at all) keen to see how the devs' plan to return control games to their hay day of having to save up resources and removal for specific threats works out when Tickatus stops you being able to play the long game anyway.

Well thats another issue, It's still a thing with pirates

  • Hearthstone Battleground Changes Arriving Soon - Junkbot Tier Change, Khadgar & Brann Triple Nerf, New Races

A good step into getting rid of the deco/reco mechanic which is utterly stupid but that (almost) all top players are using because "oThEr PlAyErS dO iT".

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #5 - Core Set, Classic Arena, Upgrading to Golden Cards, Tauren Hero Portrait, Titans

Do you have any plans to nerf the pain warlock and secret mage?

we discuss it ever patch, .2/.4/.6. No plans for now.

    Thank you, Dean. Very cool

You might want to run a check on your antivirus software to make sure you didn't pick up a keylogger at some point.

basically this, just run a scan (not the quick one though). And some serious cleaning up will be a good thing too

  • Hearthstone Grandmasters 2021 Season 1 Begins April 9! Blizzard Details This Year's Two Seasons

The fact that Season 1 winners are no longer automatically qualified for Worlds is huge. We saw it twice already, with Feno and SilverName. Especially in Europe, where the skill difference between top GMs and bottom GMs is much smaller, there is a very real chance of a rightful winner in S1 getting screwed over by bad luck in S2, especially now that there's even more of a focus on formats other than Conquest in the first weeks. Can you imagine the salt if another top-tier player like Hunterace or Feno gets relegated because they performed poorly in the specialist weeks, especially if it costs them their Worlds spot? Then again, the main reason SilverName ended up qualifying for Worlds was his performance in the Shamadin meme week. Also, haven't we learned our lesson with Specialist? They better nerf control priest and control warrior into the ground before those weeks cause I ain't watching Armor Up Pass Lesser Heal Pass games that last 45 minutes each.

  • Some Cards in Hearthstone's New Rotating Core Set Are Dean Ayala's Favourites - Here's Are His Top 10 Favourite Cards

Defile is the ultimate skill card when you want to make the efficient minion trades to get the best clear possible. It's the one card nobody would feel salty about if they lose to it

  • Hearthstone is Actively Looking Into Allowing Players to Upgrade Normal Cards to Their Golden Forms

The most natural way to implement it, would probably be to give us a discount for the normal crafting value.
So when upgrading a legendary, this wouldn’t cost 3200 (- 400 DE value of the normal one, but 1600 dust.
    I think that’s reasonable!

  • Hearthstone Battleground Changes Arriving Soon - Junkbot Tier Change, Khadgar & Brann Triple Nerf, New Races

That's a good change. That way they don't kill Brann Bronzebeard or Khadgar but deal with this big problem!

  • My Little Rant on Hearthstone

Actually you can build viable fun decks. I made a Hunter Tonk deck and except of losing to hyperagro it is quite viable against all meta decks. Triggering 3 tonk deathrattles in a turn dealing 24 damage is quite powerful.

  • Help me reach Legend!

    Hey Tuscarora87,

Hope you are having a good day today.

I wanted to ask you (or anybody else listening): Where do you find your information on the best decks out there?

It's my understanding that HSReplay has the best information but you have to pay premium for the information. I rely on TempoStorm to provide me a temperature check about every two weeks... I play wild so for me, it works. Other websites like Hearthstone Top Decks are 4 months old (October 4th) (for wild.)

Please let me know what you guys think. I love learning about new resources.

Might be a good idea to raise all your hero to lv.60 to get all the golden basic cards, so you can get extra dusts when they rotated out.

You don't get any dust. You do get 235 cards for free, though

I think what this person meant was you will get dust disenchanting the golden basic cards, which will become commons.

Doing this means you’ll still have the non-golden copies.  But 2 golden commons DE for a combined 100 dust.  So with two copies of all 143 basic cards in golden, you DE them all for 14,300 dust, nearly 9 legendaries worth of dust!

Thanks, never thought of this. Time to grind mage to level 60!

  • Dean Ayala's Community Q&A #5 - Core Set, Classic Arena, Upgrading to Golden Cards, Tauren Hero Portrait, Titans

They are looking into allowing players to upgrade normal cards to golden.

Blizz pls I'm tired of waiting and spending 30-50k dust for a golden deck. I know you want to squeeze my money as hard as possible but please at least once do something faster

  • Working on a new concept, I’d like to have OoC’s input.

    Quote From Thraxus

To be entirely honest I am no fan of the guilds idea. I entirely agree to Crusader2010 and his post.

    Some additional thoughts:

    • 2 vs 2 battles sounds fun but opens up a host of new problems; the UI would need to be significantly redesigned for this
    • Raids sound fun too but again the game would probably need to be signifcantly redesigned to implement this properly
    • Rewards are a sensible topic, you really can't give gold or exp in my opinion, cosmetics would be ok but might be too little to justify the concept
    • Introducing an entirely new layer of competion and rivalry might not fit the casual approach HS stands for

The bottom line is that guilds do not really fit into HS right now, nor can it easily be implemented. What I kind of like is the raids idea but I would not tie it to the guilds concept. Two quick ideas that come to my mind are (i) some kind of world raids for the entire community (like a super boss or so) and (ii) a new "raid mode" where you can compete with others against the AI (some sort of the Pinata tavern brawl but better and with more players). But these are just quick ideas.

Hearthstone Mathematics came up with an excellent conceptualization of what a 2v2 mode could look like, check it out whenever you get a chance unless you're already familiar with it.

Raids can be easily implemented. They've done it in the past and without changing it much it wouldn't be a problem to reintroduce.

There will rewards other than cosmetics.

The not every guild member will be required to participate in the rivalry and competition. It'll be there for people who want bragging rights.

    Thank you for your input.

    Quote From Crusader2010

First of all, we should try to set the limits. For example: how many players can coop at the same time(be in the same game)?

Considering the concept from WoW, the first things that pop to mind are "some guild members" vs PvE content, and Guild vs Guild. I think the latter is more fun for a game like HS, basically creating the tournament format - guilds battle it out, player vs player, set number of games, probably with some predefined rules or none at all.

One thing that should NOT be in guilds is a bonus for battling other guild members nor any static bonuses in general. There should not be an incentive to join a guild in terms of exp/gold/dust gain. Why do it then? Exactly for the idea of guild vs guild and maybe vs pve.

Again considering some sensible limits(e.g. Can't have more than 2v2 on the same game board), that are not even possible currently, winning games in this GvG format, or just winning the guild battle, should provide some bonuses for the winning guild members (especially if the rules will be fixed by the devs), but in a completely different system.

For example, they could gain a different type of exp to build up a guild tavern while each player could build his own house - by having some choices on how objects look upon reaching certain levels and what objects to put inside.

So, what to do with this guild tavern and houses? Maybe let them just be cosmetics, maybe allow stronger and stronger PvE fights, maybe allow different themes for the game menus overall, etc. Don't really have any interesting ideas regarding this.

TLDR: don't make guilds provide bonuses to exp/gold/dust in any way.

For the raiding (co-op) aspect, it will be similar to the old Lich King raid that required a Fireside Gathering, except it won't require a Fireside Gathering. For this kind of PVE content I don't feel that it should be exclusive to certain guild members.

Guild vs Guild will definitely be a thing, and there will be incentives for the guild's end of season ranking and amount of GvG participation.

Guilds in this aspect, at least how I'm imagining it, is for people who want a little more of a social feeling out of their Hearthstone experience. Players are going to earn experience regardless, the rate may be way lower since it's a bunch of friendly matches.

I have a reward system and with Iksar's recent Q&A's I have a few ideas of where I want to head with some awards.

There WILL be guild levels, as for how many and if they're similar to the rewards track is yet to be determined.

There has to be incentive to participate in guild activities, however, it can be done without FOMO and/or the feeling of player feeling as if they MUST be in a guild.

    Thank you for your input.

Ah, that's a relief. I was almost afraid they'd actually try to balance wild again. Good to know I can stick to standard for a little longer.

Still appreciate all the info and community interaction he's been doing though.
