Thank you for all your feedback! It seems Balanced Blade needs some more explanation (which isn't a good sign in the first place).

    1) I'm aware of the fact that the art is bad and it remains to be seen if I have the time to look for something better.

    2) I know this is close to Gorehowl, that's why I've put it in Rogue instead of Warrior.

    3) But then, a) you can go face with Balanced Blade without destroying it and b) Rogue has Doctor Krastinov, Vulpera Toxinblade and Deadly Poison in Standard with many more options to buff the Attack in Wild. Admittedly it needs some setup, but I think this is way more dangerous than Gorehowl.

    4) I'll probably drop it to 4/4/1 or maybe even 3/3/1 so the card isn't so dangerous anymore and you don't lose too much tempo playing it at the same time.

That said, I really like the art of Staff of Souls. The issue with this card is that there's no good reason to put it at 1 Durability when Skull of the Man'ari has 3 - a problem several of us seem to be struggling with. I'll see if inspiration strikes and maybe rework the effect. As I've told one of you in my feedback, I'm of the opinion that good art carries you farther than a good idea.

Oh hell, here's a third idea. I'm pretty sure this will not be received well because of the current state of Demon Hunter, but I need to get it out of my head. Feel free to prove me wrong :)

DestroyerR: I'm still having trouble with Xal'atath's mechanic. The one out I see here is something like "Xal'atath chooses the perfect target." - that way, people would associate the affect with Zeph and understand how it works. I still think it's a cool idea flavorwise. I'd also understand if you would drop the card because it is too risky and Pocket Knife is a nice one, too.

KANSAS: Nice art, nice idea. I'd probably rate it 4 stars right now.

DavnanKillder: Midnight's Scythe is very cool and ready to go imho. 4 stars for the time being, but a strong contender for a 5 stars rating.

grumpymonk: I prefer Detachable Blade. Nice idea!

Wailor: I'm still fine with Mirror Maze being in Priest. Soul Eater looks interesting, too, but I'm not sure if the Weapon would actually break if there are no more Soul Fragments left in your deck. Unstable Felbolt still works if you don't have a  friendly minion on board, after all. An unbreakable Soul Eater without a drawback would be OP.

Nirast: Thunderfury looks cool. There's a little error in Vol'jin's Mojo: it isn't a minion (line 2).

linkblade: Looks great and ready to go. Instant 5 stars!

This weird distinction between 800 (soon 900) and 1000 XP quests is so annoying for me. As it has been with 50g/60g quests as well. I wish they could just get rid off this silly concept entirely. Have a baseline of 1000 XP and throw in a bunch of special higher XP quests in the mix, so it actually feels rewarding to reroll and hit one.

I'm glad we are seeing progress in other areas.

  • A short story

Shukie mentioned the pandemic and I didn't thought about that being a slowing factor and a problem with testing the game if people work from home and don't test as well it as normally (that explains the insane amount of bugs), but you are being too forgiving...
They did this thing of ruining the meta and then solve it to get praise a lot of times making blatantly overpowered cards (KOFT druid, DoD shaman, AOO demon hunter) and also they nerfed classic cards for cards they introduced in those expansions making the game even more expensive...

I assume when you say that they nerfed classic cards, you're referring to Innervate, Nourish, and Wild Growth, which were nerfed during Knights of the Frozen Throne and Rastakhan's Rumble. It's true that they nerfed these basic and classic cards to make room for expansion cards, but again, I think your conclusion that this was done intentionally to drive up the cost of the game isn't really right. All of those classic cards were too good, and therefore saw play in every Druid deck. In a game where you can only put 30 cards in a deck, having three cards be automatic two-of inclusions in every Druid deck meant far less room for any new cards to see play. Deck building and game play both get very boring when the game looks like that.

Brian Kibler has talked about this a lot - there are real risks to game health when you have an evergreen set, because new cards only get to see play when they're stronger than the evergreen cards. In classes like Druid, that was often not the case, and in classes like Priest, that was too often the case (meaning that Priest could be great or trash based entirely on the strength of its expansion cards). Over time we've seen them address the power level of numerous evergreen cards, but that risk is always there. This is why Kibler advocates for having no evergreen set. That would allow these current evergreen cards to keep their high power levels because they'd rotate out (and perhaps back in) over time.

The MTG approach, by comparison, doesn't use evergreen sets. Instead, they introduce a core set every year to act as the thematic backbone for each color, and typically include lots of reprints in each core set. The result of having lots of familiar building blocks for each color is very similar, but it lets them take cards out that are too good, or limit the overlap of cards which are uniquely powerful together. There are a lot of upsides to this approach, but it has had issues mapping onto the digital formats of the game, and MTGA has had to introduce a "reprint protection" because fans were so mad about constantly opening reprints (which was driving up the cost for anyone with a large collection).

Ultimately, I think this problem of "set balance" is much harder than you're treating it. You need collecting cards to feel like it matters, but you can't just let people play with every old card or you'd end up with rampant powercreep or a horrible new player experience because new players would be punished for having fledgling collections. (This is why the Wild format is such a shitshow.) MTG attempts to solve some of this with different game formats that limit the number of legal sets, and Blizzard is trying the same thing (that's why Duels offers a subset of old and new sets - to give players how have lots of old cards a chance to see them shine).

Sorry if I have missed something, but doesn't the track last the entire expansion? So it isn't it only 3 skins per year (1 per expo)?

Yes, my bad, i wrote each month, but i meant each expansion cycle 😅

This means they are set for at least 3 years in advance.

  • Most recent event cards

These new event cards make the game take so much longer than it needs to - not in terms of time limit, but the turns take forever because we have to watch popstar ahri because a spell that blows up the field for barely any cost at all is played, then they play more of those cards and make more of those cards, so that eventually we're basically just watching a shitty superbowl half time show as some n64 graphics ahri dances on the screen.

I thought it'd be cool to pick up a card game where I wasnt already so far behind in terms of deck essentials.  I was enjoying it at first but soon realized... there really isn't much thought to this game.  Buy best cards/deck then wait until you get your prize card, or an event card that you play for free with no cost other than its mana lol.  Unenjoyable.  Uninstalling.  Not sure if anyone that has any investment in the game will read or care.  Not a pity party or salty flaming, just stating my observation.

    How about this one?

so you either get a slightly worse Darkbomb, or a free 3 damage attack which your opponent can play around. Do you prefer this or Xal’atath?

To clarify on how Xal’atath works: it’s NOT random. It’ll have the targetable spells glow in a purple aura, and you don’t get to drag the spell to a target (just like non-target spells). When you play it, the HS singleplayer AI will choose the target they think is best, and the spell will target that minion.

Some people said Spell Damage doesn’t really benefit Priest a lot, so how about this?

If I continue feedback I’ll finish the previous page in my past post then continue here

I’m hoping these will retroactively apply, but who knows!

Right now these rewards are packs, but they are surrounded by 150 gold sacks.  So I guess they realized after I and probably many others suggested that packs that cost 100 gold to buy as rewards between 150 gold sacks seemed a bit underwhelming.

    Quote From CursedParrot

Yeah Aurelian Sol is definitely better, but he’s ten mana and requires a specific board state to play. Viktor can come out way before that a discount Celestials very early, and against Aggro he isn’t a dead draw. I could also see a Viktor/ASol deck being possible where Viktor gets out Celestials early and ASol brings the inevitability. Combined with the Targon Allegiance card there are a lot of ways to cheat out Celestials before turn 10.

That's why I think viktors' level up requirement is well made, you can have him be with a lot of combinations cause creations are prevalent in many regions, so you don't have a locked in region.. well at least yet.

  • Lunacy C'Thun Mage

I did try this similar deck, end up transforming my spell into minions buff or summon from deck spell. such as great value, FML.

C'Thun, the Shattered is useful only in Control matchups, when the games go on for many turns.

If you're paired up with a Face Hunter or an aggressive deck in general, all you need is defensive spells - in this case, you'll never get to the point where [Hearthstone Card (C'thun the shattered) Not Found] will be relevant, so why not just using its pieces for something more helpful?

  • New Piltover & Zaun Champion - Viktor

    Quote From CursedParrot

I think that a lot of people are underestimating how powerful the discount can be. It reminds me of Herald of Dragons, but on a more durable body and able to discount more cards. One use that I don't think many people are thinking of is using Viktor in a Celestials deck to cheat out Celestial cards a few turns earlier. Also, Viktor would be kind of crazy with something like Living Legends or using The Traveler into another Celestial. Noxus also offers the possibility of discounting Captain Farron's Decimates or playing multiple Noxian Guillotines.

You know which card works better with celestials? Aurelion Sol

  • New Piltover & Zaun Spell - Iterative Improvement

Blood for Blood should definitely get a buff now.. to burst speed

anyway this card is probably quite overtuned, getting a flexible draw AND give it +1/+1 at any point of the game, as long as a game isn't heavy tempo and has some value/resources into it this card is really good.

  • New Piltover & Zaun Spell - Death Ray - MK 1

    MK1: can't target nexus Blade's Edge

MK2: can't target nexus Mystic Shot

MK3: can't target nexus, no draw back Get Excited! or always 3 mana Gotcha!

Mystic Shot is so good at removing stuff I wouldn't mind having more of those..

and with the recent buff to Funsmith those spells might be even better removals tha they seem, also powder kegs are an option.

  • A short story

    Quote From meisterz39
    Quote From DoubleSummon

Mmy central point is that they solved mostly problems they introduced instead of solving the main issue (long lasting pain), they do this a lot of times introducing issues then FINALLY solving them.. like with Patches the Pirate and Baku the Mooneater they introduced so many problems with those that were complained for ages.. and then getting the praise for solving them.

sure you can also get the other analogy from this tale which is also a legit one that people complain about stuff that are not so bad, I like this tale cause it can got both ways:

the doctor is introduced a problem that didn't exist and solved it and then got the praise.

    OR

The person is complaining about pain but it's not so bad in the end.

Which are both stances about the battle pass, that's why I posted it.

Of course I am on the patient side but I am also looking at the other side of the coin, did Blizzard did this kind of thing just to get praises about them fixing the problem and making us forget about the long time pain?

The first interpretation you've offered - that the doctor has caused harm simply to later get praise for it - is a misinterpretation of the "get rid of the goat" parable. This is made plain by the historical context of the story. It is a traditional Jewish story in which a poor (but faithful) man calls on God to alleviate his misery, and God (depending on the retelling) either tells him to get a goat or gives him a goat, and then the story proceeds basically as you've written it. Over time, God would be replaced in the story with a rabbi, or a wiseman, or (today) with a doctor.

Given that God is the original adviser in the story, and that God is good in the Abrahamic traditions, the point was never to suggest that God has maliciously ruined the man's life for the sake of praise. In fact, he already has the man's praise, as he is faithful when he originally calls on God. God in the story is teaching the man perspective and gratitude for what he has. So, the second interpretation has always been the actual meaning of the story. That's plain to see even in the modern, secular retelling of the story you're offering. Doctors swear a Hippocratic Oath, which first says to do no harm. The purpose of replacing God or a rabbi with a doctor is to make the story connect more effectively to secular audiences while maintaining the notion that the adviser in the story has the man's best interests at heart. That the secular version is now open to such misinterpretations as you've offered today is probably a reflection of a broader, modern distrust in institutions. But at this point I've probably spent more time than necessary on religion, history, and politics, as this is a space for discussing CCGs.

It makes more sense as a biblical tale than a doctor (I mean why would a man get a goat suddenly cause a doctor told him). I think I read/studied about the original story rather than this version I heard somewhere else.probably cause I didn't listen much during Bible classes(fell as sleep every class :D) , this was quite interesting backstory though, thank you.

Anyway, yes They made a lot of good changes this year before this progress changes but so many decisions in this progress track (which I won't go into detail you know what went wrong in it and some stuff didn't get fixed yet/won't get fixed) are really making people distrust those statements when they don't happen.

Love those posts! There are generally one or two between them that are good enough for a whacky legend grind

  • Group Therapy! Need to blow off some steam? Mega salty? Here's the place!

This is how busted Aggro Demon Hunter is: I was playing a Bomb Warrior deck and for the first 7 turns, I drew nothing but my removal tools (Sword and Board, Minefield, Brawl, Bladestorm, Coerce, Deathwing, Mad Aspect) so I was able to prevent my opponent from gaining any tempo whatsoever. Whenever he played a minion, I killed it. When he dropped 3-4 minions, I just Brawl-ed or Bladestorm-ed it away. I made it past turn 7 and he only had 1 card in his hand from that point on, so that should mean I've stabilized. Most aggro decks would be out of gas and just concede by that point.

Except my opponent STILL almost beat me. He got me down to as low as 3 health (granted, I had to trade off his minions with my face at times), and I only survived because my Deathwing, Mad Aspect managed to stay on the board for 3 turns. If it wasn't for that, my opponent would've eventually drawn enough damage to kill me with.

Aggro Demon Hunter is just so strong that it sometimes doesn't even matter if you draw your removal tools just when you need them. I played and drew my cards as perfectly as could be expected against an aggro deck, and it almost wasn't enough. It just seems like there's no surviving against this deck unless you either a) armor up with the Risky Skipper + Armorsmith combo, which is busted as well, or b) you somehow manage to kill him first. The deck just has so much draw and damage that it's not even funny.

  • Viktor seems legit

Jury-Rig exists in this list simply for the reason that he is a burst speed Follower who gets to attack on turn 1 without giving the opponent a chance to block (+1 for Sejuani) and because he is an surprise chumb blocker(aka just a very good card for 1). However you are right that the Lonely Poro fits nicely here and ill consider it.

  • Blizzard Responds to the Hearthstone Rewards Track - Less XP Required, Gold Bonus Next Week, More XP Gains

We’re adding more gold rewards to certain levels of the rewards track.

We’re adding 50 gold to the current rewards for levels 27 and 30. This is a simple change based on the rewards for those levels feeling especially underwhelming, and this helps us inject more gold into the rewards track to address feedback about slower gold earnings.

Regarding this, will it matter if I have collected the gold from 27 to 30?

Currently, I haven't been collecting gold from my rewards track (so I won't be tempted to use). So, I'm wondering if its safer to collect them or not.

Do you seriously belive that the balance team is responsible for the economy?

I did not want my comment to imply that I think that, but I am not confident the design team and the developers are simultaneously working in both areas. Maybe because I haven't seen any response to balance feedback but the game economy is constantly being addressed since its update. Before the major economy changes there hasn't been any requirement from players for the teams to tweak the system and now that there are unintended bugs showing up again and again they must have allocated their resources differently.

  • In The Swing Of Things - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

After a bit of brainstorming, here is my card:

I had a few other ideas such as gaining the durability if you played an elemental last turn, and then deathrattle buff an elemental in your hand. Or maybe gain two durability if you have a murloc, and deathrattle buff a murloc. It doesn't have to be frozen minions. But the idea is that you can gain durability to have an above-average weapon, but sometimes you may want to avoid getting the extra durability so that you can get the deathrattle sooner. I hope the design is interesting and good. And if you think it should interact with something other than frozen minions let me know.
