They've added several F2P-friendly formats (Battlegrounds, Duels), and will be adding another new mode before the end of the Year of the Phoenix
this statement can't be further from the truth.. the pass for battlegrounds gives you an insane advantage 2-> 4 hero picks.. when some heroes are busted are, not to mention how broken are some heroes on release, having early access to them before they are nerfed is a huge advantage...
duels..F2P friendly? are you sure? please check again.
Any tips for Sun and Moon to Me, where you need to play 6 Lunar or Solar Eclipses in one game? I was thinking something with Elise the Enlightened, when you draw all 4 copies of both Eclipses, but it seems too slow to me. Any other ideas? :/
It's meant to be done with Kiri, Chosen of Elune. I was (un)lucky to get the card from packs, so the achievement wasn't that hard.
Elise could work as an alternative, Educated Elekk might also work. You'll need a lot of draw regardless.
I don't have Elise so I'm going the Elekk method cause I was lucky to open 2 of them. Also I'm putting Archmage Vargoth in the deck to see if he works in completing the 6 casted eclipses.
I just hit level 25. Got the Totem... The frigging Totem... So i got nothing on level 25 as i have no use and no interest in this card. Getting legendaries completely at random like this is starting to feel terrible because i'm already used to the Wild Cards and freedom of choice in Legends of Runeterra.
Edit: Tried the Totem today. I was only missing one Splitting Axe (bye bye 400 dust...) so i decided to test it even if i don't like it. The card itself is probably the best support ever printed for the totem archetype. The deck sucks though. Lost 4 times in a row against a variety of decks. Vicious Syndicate posted their meta report yesterday and they said that Totem Shaman is starting to struggle already. It's early success was derived from the fact that the meta is in complete chaos and full of suboptimal decks. Now that other decks are starting to become more refined and the meta is slowly stabilizing, the deck's flaws are starting to appear again. It just crumbles when it can't establish a board. Most of the decks out there fight fiercely for the board and the only stickiness of the deck comes from Totem Goliath. The card is still too slow. The buff made it less awful... but it still sucks. This deck really has no other path to follow. It doesn't have other card options or ways to switch and adapt its strategy. It seems its only destiny is the dumpster tier.
I saw the achievement unlock on Zalae's stream while he was playing Duels. He killed his opponent with it in the first match of the run. I think that will be one of the easiest ways to unlock it, since you have a very small deck and the opponent only has 20 health. The only issue is them conceding before it can go off.
If there's anyone out there who doesn't have either Legendary, you can also complete this with a fairly dopey combo in Hunter: 2x Scarlet Webweaver to reduce the cost to (0), then Mana Wraith to bring the cost of Darkmoon Rabbit back up to (1). I managed to get this to work in two tries on the Wild Ladder (picked Wild because I figured I was more likely to queue into a control opponent) - only ran 2x Scarlet Webweaver and 1x Darkmoon Rabbit to reduce the risk of bad discounts, and included a bunch of card draw including Scavenger's Ingenuity to tutor the combo.
You could reduce the cost of the deck even further with 1x Scarlet Webweaver and some neutral bounce effects like Youthful Brewmaster. That would also remove the risk of ever having one Webweaver reduce the cost of the other, and make the tutoring even better, but it might also make the combo slower in a class not known for its long game.
I have to admire the ingenuity of the strategy. I had already given up on this one since I didn't get Deck of Chaos. Now I just have to check if I even got the Rabbit or Webweavers...
I'd also like to suggest adding Master's Call for even better draw, in case you didn't have that already.

Awesomenauts brings back a lot of good memories for me, so sad that the game has all but died out by now. I tried to play it again recently but it was forcing me to do the new tutorial and the cursor was bugged so I couldn't aim.

ChickyChick - I kind of like Beast Caller; the "when you draw this" effect is neat. Pond Keeper is also okay, but drawing all three for far less mana than The Curator concerns me.
fungusABao - I think I prefer "Enjoy the Faire!", because it name-drops the location. Still not satisfied with it, personally, but I can't even think of a good name for my own cards, so…yeah :/
IF they would give free legendaries to ALL, maybe the anger will slowly fade away.. but not when only few people will get free golden legendaries for nothing while others don´t, the rage will be much worse imo..
I feel targeting needs to be clarified. Personally, I think this would be better as a Battlecry Tutor + a one time double battlecry effect (e.g. Draw a Battlecry minion. The next Battlecry you play triggers twice.
Yes, It is a Battlecry tutor + one time double Battlecry effect, and the target of this effect is the minion that you draw by this card-- which I used "it" to substitude, and I think it is relaively easy to understand.
I just can't understand why people feel like they can criticize Blizzard for "wanting to make money".
1) Blizzard is not a charity, it is a business that works out of a psychological supported business model.
2) Someone has to pay all the developers and teams who are working on developing your favorite games.
3) I am an old mellenial, growing up, I could never have dreamed of having a game like Hearthstone for free.
4) Solem made thepoint that HS is not "pay to win" but "pay to have a full experience". That seems fair to me.
5) I am currently a F2P wild player. It takes work, but you can make fun decks that win without spending money.
6) HS is like any other product. It has a price tag, you think it is worth it, you pay money for it. you think the product doesn't;t worth it, you move on.
7) Blizzard always listen to the fan base. It has gone much better than the early days. They listen, and than fix and improve.
So maybe we should turn down the level of poison a little bit.
That Level 58 determination assumes you're only doing 75% of your daily and weekly quests (as noted in the table breakdown). He's quite clear in the Q&A section that doing all of your quests gets you a lot more ("The 5400g example is someone who doesn't do all their Quests, and doesn't reroll. Someone who *does* reroll for max gold, and does all their quests/achievements, will get much more than that.")
Now, I'm sure there are players out there who aren't doing every daily and weekly quest, but I suspect anyone engaged enough to join this discussion (and probably anyone engaged enough to be mad about this system) is doing every daily and weekly quest.
Fair enough regarding the level 58 thing, although it's quite inconsistent that a player plays for 1 hour every day and only completes only 75% of dailies...
But damn, I wish I didn't lose the other post though, I used the 5hr/day example instead for some quick calculations and came to the conclusion that in the old system, a player would get around 15000g-16000g (something in the middle, I don't remember exactly), which compared to the new system (14400g + packs/legendary/tickets), the new system would give slightly more value, but that extra value was very minimal before speculating on event rewards and reaching the conclusion I put on the other post I posted here: we need clarity. I even used this:
Now, what Blizz should do is just show the XP being added after each game, so you can see what it has earned you.
as an example of adding clarity to the system without even giving more rewards.
PS: I'll probably remake the calculations and edit here later, I'm getting frustrated not remembering the exact number. PPS: As someone who played his fair share of Pokémon, Angry Shuckie is an awesome name.
EDIT: Calculations made, with some rudimental winrate analysis included (fun fact: you needed an 80% winrate to get 100g from wins in 5 hours with my calculations)
and ofcourse blizzard did not respond to this even when its a thing on twitter No respect for the playerbase again they never learn
The question is: will people suddenly forgive their greed if they start giving away free legendaries? Human nature has a stupid habit of succumbing to even the lowest amounts of dopamine, especially after a prolongued period of "rage" or "hatred".
Actually got round to thinking about this a little further; I think the real question is whether it is now time for BG and duels to exist on their own server, their own client, and therefore also their own progressions and rewards. Even arena seems a bit out of place compared to standard ranked play. This will resolve the quests issues entirely, as well as give non-ranked players quests that actually matter to them.
Maybe its going a bit too far to suggest partitioning now, but I do certainly think that those that prefer rank shouldn't be given quests that don't matter to them, and vice versa to those that prefer non-rank modes.
I wouldn't hold my breath on this - there's really zero incentive to split the games (probably ever).
Hearthstone is F2P, so Blizzard wants to drive high player engagement (obviously - in every F2P game, the more engagement you get out of any given player, the more likely that player is to feel invested enough to pay for something in game). These quests work as nudges from a behavioral economics standpoint. You can opt out of them by re-rolling if you really don't like them, but they might nudge players toward trying out formats that they wouldn't otherwise consider. That can be mutually beneficial; for players who find a format they like as much or more than ladder, they have more fun, and for Blizzard they get higher engagement from the player in question.
Quick side note, I believe this engagement issue is why Hearthstone has invested so much in new game modes and why there's yet another new game mode coming soon. The Arena "draft mode" for Hearthstone has always been terrible compared to other CCGs, and the various Auto-Chess games out there were stealing away players from the traditional "competitive, turn-based strategy game" market that CCGs exist in. Duels basically solves the "draft mode" problem (leaving Arena limping along), so it should be interesting to see what the next new format is.
I wouldn't disagree. It wouldn't exactly be rocket science to figure out why the non-ranked quests are almost exclusively weeklies. That doesn't make it any less annoying. Just hoping they would realize that incentivizing players to try other stuff is positive; but there's always that thin line where the carrot is dangled up high enough that the experience becomes a mess of frustration. They demonstrated a lack of understanding of this when 'Finish an arena run with 4 or more wins.' was added into the pool of weekly quests, which is honestly scary.
Its funny that you bring up arena as a terrible mode, and its sister duels to be the superior of the two. I personally find the arena style of play more suitable as a game mode, and its more engaging too, since no drafts are ever exactly the same and is somewhat more skill reliant. Duels suffer from this slightly, being more predictable at the start, progressively being more luck reliant than skill as specific treasures offerings start offsetting skill as the main determinant of wins. All arena really needed is a casual mode, where you can play infinitely at your leisure. But since arena isn't limited by card collection or any bs requirements for treasures and hero powers, and therefore having almost no potential for profits, I'm definitely not holding any breath on a casual mode being implemented (however easy it may be to do) anytime soon.
Its precisely the efficiency of its economics that makes me shudder whenever I get reminded of upcoming 'new game modes'.

Adding cards to your opponent's hand
Off the top of my head (minus ones that have been mentioned): Drakkari Trickster, Tanglefur Mystic, Griftah, K'thir Ritualist, Fishflinger, and Mechanical Yeti (remember when 4/5s with upsides also needed a downside?).
There's also Coldlight Oracle, Research Project, Dancing Swords, Utgarde Grapplesniper, and Prize Vendor depending on your definition of giving cards.
