Pretty crazy card for both standard and wild. Priest in both formats right now is strong against aggro, but weak against combo. This gives Priest very consistent combo disruption. As long as you time her right, Mindrender Illucia is a Dirty Rat that will always hit your opponents combo piece, so long as you have the mana to play and get rid of it. Maybe this puts Raza Priest over Quest Mage as the top deck in wild? It also keeps Questlock and potential Maly Druids and Exodia Mages in check. It does require you to draw the one-of card in your deck. In standard, it's harder to draw her consistently with less card draw available to Priest, but Sphere of Sapience can help with that. A staple in any control-based Priest.
If spell shaman was missing something it was certainly consistent spell damage.
Despite having the powerful Squall Hunter and Lady Vashj spell hunter in standard was missing ways to keep spell damage on the board - Squall hunter's overload would make playing any spells next turn pretty difficult, and Lady Vashj's health would be so modest in both of her forms that the cheapest single target removal could remove her - if your opponent didn't opt to just silence or transform her.
This somewhat circumvents that by keeping the spell damage on your hero when you attack, allowing you to choose when you need that spell damage. Granted this weapon can be removed with weapon removal, which has been more popular against the Galakrond Decks and Pirate Warrior, but Hoard Pillager can be used to re-equip your weapon for the continuous spell damage.
All of Shamans damaging spells benefit from this weapons activation - Tidal Wave is now a lifesteal spell that deals 4 across the entire board and heals that much, Molten Blast now deals 3 damage and summons that many tokens, Earthquake will now deal 6 and then 3 damage, and Ras Frostwhisper while not a spell is improved by spell damage and can deal an additional 1 damage with his AOE.
Draws you cards and if you have a 5 damage weapon then this is free.
Yes, this is good. Yes this will go into all aggro rogue/warrior decks. But will it ever go anywhere else? That's another question. Risky Skipper combo is still here and not going anywhere, and rogue still has cards like Dirty Tricks and [Hearthstone Card (greyheart) Not Found] sage to do the same thing.
Perhaps next year this will truly shine. Until then, I cant see Risky Skipper making way for this, so its strictly going to aggro pirate warrior and little else.
I really can't get it why there are comments like this. It is like we have a tournement format while playing on ladder and we have a limitation to build only one deck with a class.
It doesn't mean that some viable class decks outclass the other. There might be different viable archetypes for a class and that doesn't mean they are outclassing each other.
Risky Skipper combo is a different thing, this card's support is different. You might want to climb ladder with that deck, someone wants to play warrior but with different archetype.
Don't act like there "should" or "have to" be only one archetype of deck for each class in the meta.
If you have said that some existing cards outclass this one for target archetype like " Why would i use Self-Sharpening Sword while i can use Hooked Scimitar or Waggle Pick" I could understand tho. But you are comparing different type of cards for different archetypes.
I dont get this response. Its not as though as Im shitting on any particular deck or archetype. And its not like I'm saying or implying that one deck trumps the other. All that was said was that I dont see this going anywhere except aggro decks for both rogue and warrior.
During Knights of the Frozen Throne Priest received one of it's most powerful and popular board AOE spells - spirit lash - a 2 mana spel that dealt 1 damage to all minions and had lifesteal. While it doesn't sound incredibly powerful Priest was able to utilize this spell for incredible health gain and board removal for only 2 mana, often times using it to refresh their death knights hero power.
Now, lifesteal that deals 3 damage to all minions for 8 mana sounds incredibly expensive compared to Spirit Lash, but keep in mind one of Shaman's most powerful AOE's was the 8 mana Hagatha the Witch that debuted during the year of the Raven, and she only did 3 damage to the entire board. This spell does 3 damage that can be increased with spell damage and restores that much health as well.
This is an AOE and health restore spell in one package, making it incredibly efficient. Thanks to Shaman receiving Rune Dagger that gives an additional +1 spell damage the turn you attack with it to increase damage and health received, plus Primordial Studies that can discover AND discount this card I believe this card will absolutely see play. If Vashj Prime draws this card this becomes and incredibly efficient 5 mana AOE board clear that restores health.
In the set Goblins vs Gnomes, Warlock received the spell Imp-losion, which players will make immediate comparison to this card.
However, whereas Imp-losion is 4 mana, this is 3, making it a spell that can be cast by Trick Totem, or even be discounted by Farsight and the new Primordial Studies. It's also a consistent 2 damage instead of 2-4, and consistent damage allows for better planning when it comes to single target removal. Both are also empowered by spell damage, which will increase the amount of tokens this summons.
While the spell sounds weaker than it's counterpart, consider the tools that Shaman has in their arsenal to make this spell stronger -
They've received the new weapon Rune Dagger that gives +1 spell damage when they attack, Trick Totem that can cast this spell (hopefully not against it), Boggspine Knuckles AND Bogstruck clacker that can evolve the tokens, as well as the ever popular Mogu Fleshshaper that gets discounted the more minions are on the field. If Vashj Prime happens to draw this spell it'll be absolutely discounted.
I think this card, while it requires some work can see play in constructed, especially since Team 5 wants to keep pushing Spell Shaman so much
Alleria Windrunner, best Windrunner. I use to relate to Sylvanas, when I played Horde, I used to queue for all my BGs in UC's Throne room, waiting for someone to turn in the Necklace quest to Sylvanas so I could listen to the Lament of the Highborn (This was prior to Sylvanas' Music box.) I even had high hopes for her, when She and Varian fought back to back during Legion Launch, but... that all died when she decided to Torch Teldrassil killing hundreds of thousands of civilian Night Elves, and Worgen, Women, children, old and young... just for a plot hook. Now I can't wait, and hope we kill her with extreme prejudice in Shadowlands.
While I do think Totem Shaman would prefer something more consistent in a totem, it's hard to deny that this is the highest health totem you can play on turn 2 and adds to the consistency for Totemic Reflection on turn 3.
However, I don't think this has enough synergy in Mage for it to be seen there.
I think that The Amazing Reno has shown that one random spell a turn is on average positive. It also helps that secrets make up a good portion of the pool and they are usually tempo-driven. Overall, I do think Trick Totem has more tricks up its non-existent sleeve than it lets on at first sight (pun 100% intended).
For Rising Tides, the tease season started April 7th with Demacia artwork on Twitter and lasted until the MF YouTube announcement on April 27th--the day before RT released on April 28th. If they follow that same cadence, that will mean teases should start 3 weeks before expansion: July 28th aka this coming Tuesday. However between Scholomance Academy coming out in the dead middle of that schedule and the fact less cards will be immediately released in this set than RT, I could also see them pushing the start out and just doing a shorter tease season. (For context: Ashes of Outland was released on April 7th, so there was just a tiny overlap with the start of RT tease season)
As you've probably noticed, July 28th has come and gone without any new teases or reveals. Looking a little deeper: if we consider the champion showcase videos and region highlight videos to be part of the RT reveal season, then it actually started on April 5 and quickly settles into a 3-day pattern of Champion Showcase, region video and/or animation, then teases and same-day champion reveal. This continues for all 6 eternal regions until:
Thurs April 23rd: reveal Lee Sin / Ionia as final new champion for an eternal region
Fri April 24th: announce "Rising Tides", Bilgewater region, Loot mechanic
Sat April 25th: announce Fizz, Nautilus, and associated followers
Sun April 26th: announce GP, TF, and associated followers
Mon April 27: 1.0 patch notes; announce MF and associated followers
Tues April 28th: release
In other words, it kinda drug out at the start as they covered all 6 eternal regions and then all of Bilgewater was crammed into the final 4 days of the campaign. This was probably special circumstances tough as Rising Tides coincided with their official release. So the question becomes: what exactly is in this next release, and how will this want to reveal it? If it just the new region + 5 new champions / support, I could see them doing 1 day region announcement + 1 day per champion = 6 days total.
No the reason I have completely ignored Warrior is because Garrosh is the Hero. I Still play Wow, and hated Garrosh from Day one, and would have rather had Green Jeebus still in charge during Cata. After the bombing of Theramore, then creating an alternate Universe /Timeline thanks to 1 Bronze Dragon, I was so thrilled to see Green Jeebus shirk the rules of mok gorah and use the elements to squash him like a bug. Magni and Deathwing really don't do it for me either, so Warrior just sat and rotted, and was scrapped for dust as needed. Annhylde, if she does become a warrior hero, would give me a reason to think of trying to collect and play Warrior. I have dusted every Warrior legendary I have ever received, though glad I held onto the Gold Dr. Boom, for when they nerfed him, and about 85-90% of my "Random free class legendary" has been Warrior.
Guys if you think Paladin is bad watch the Regis clip below...and consider Blessing of Authority being cast on this card. If this card sticks (and its whole design is obviously centered on it sticking so it can be buffed...even against Priest) and you blessing of kings or authority it and smash for 8 or 12 with lifesteal you might sing a different tune. If the opponent expends resources to take down 9 health from a 6 mana lifesteal minion you're ok with that. If they leave it up you buff it and smash. I think it's deceptively good.
Regarding the art..... We aren't used to seeing black people in Hearthstone and it's a weird thing to deal with overall because fantasy stories generally are based on medieval Europe and almost everyone was white there because that was before technology made it possible for widespread travel, etc. Medieval people encountered people that looked different through the Crusades but that's about it.
Azeroth's humans are basically medieval Europeans. There are other races but they're not human. (So an actual other race.) I don't know...are there other areas in Azeroth where the humans developed to look African or Asian, etc? I think that's one of the reasons diversity feels contrived in fantasy settings sometimes...because of the medieval setting where that's not natural. But it is if the person is actually from another place. But there's not always the lore to back that up. Probably in WoW lore there isn't that other place so it feels like immersion breaking foisting of representation.
Even if it is contrived it's good though. Representation has awkward political overtones and can be jarring in fantasy settings if it breaks the lore....but there just should be some black people in Hearthstone one way or another. And some Asian and so on. Azeroth humans are medieval white Europeans and that is what it is but Hearthstone humans should reflect Earth humans to some extent as well. That feels right to me and probably feels kinda good to the people with their "color" being represented.
Anyways...also I feel like the hair here might be a bit jarring to people because it feels very contemporary in style, which projects even more the political overtones and breaks immersion...but hey people could have that hairstyle at any time in history if they wanted so I'm just gonna say this is a hairstyle that exists in Azeroth. Why not?
I've seen the Dragoon legendary themes video, and I've been wanting to ask this question for a long time. Where did their themes come from? I know Neltharion from GvG comes from Xaxas, though.
They all came from WoW. If you (or anyone else reading this) want complete breakdowns of where they all came from:
Both Priest and Paladin like having their enemies weaker than them for different reasons.
Paladins either play the board with murlocs or make very tall minions who can swing for a LOT of damage. The problem is that these instances can leave you having to make a bad trade to survive. By reducing your enemies attack to (1) you can clobber your opponents and keep your own minions. Also works surprisingly well with Commencement Speech, as the minion that now has Taunt and Divine shield will take even more hits to kill from your opponent. Paladins can also use this spell with Shield of Honor to make a favorable trade, and then with 1 health missing give that minion +3 attack and divine shield.
Priests have cards such as Shadow Madness, Shadow Word Pain, Cabal Shadow Priest and the new Cabal Acolyte that can either remove or take possession of a high value minion from your opponents side of the board. This card especially has synergy with Cabal Acolyte because of it's spellburst ability.
Both also received High Abbess Alura in this set too, and while she doesn't directly benefit from the spell playing it does increase the chance of a beneficial buff spell to land on her.
It's a cheap, flexible spell in a set that wants you to play spells for additional effects.
When I initially looked at Blizzard data for the dual-class cards when reveals started, it showed they had flagged them as a "primary class" and then as the multiclasses. I wrongly assumed it was going to stay this way so our data import from the client today flagged all the dual-class cards as neutral!
In a set where minion's abilities are triggered by spells, a zero mana spell should be reviewed very carefully.
it's very difficult to compare this spell to others because it's somehwhat...unique.
On the surface dealing 3 damage to your hero sounds pretty stupid, unless you're playing the Flame Imp, which is the most aggressively statted 1 drop in Hearthstone without any hand buffs. Receiving 2 random minions that have perished doesn't sound terrible but you'll also need to consider that they might be the minions played on turn 1 and could be weak late in the game.
However Priest and Warlock both received cards that benefit from this card with Flesh Giant, Brittlebone Destroyer and Disciplinarian Gandling.
Flesh giant requires you to damage or heal yourself on your turn to discount it's cost. Brittlebone Destroyer is a single target removal that has the same requirements, and the minions this minion generates can become fuel for Galding to turn into more mana efficient 4 drops.
The 3 damage to the classes isn't a problem, either.
Priest has most of their spells that restore health (including their hero power) and Warlock received the Soul Stone package with Demon Hunter this set that can also be used to mitigate any damage received.
While Warlock received no Spellburst minion in this set, the priest did receive the Cabal Acolyte whose spellburst allows them to control a random minion on your opponents side with 2 attack or less. it should be noted that if you kill that minion this spell may return it to your hand.

Soulciology : If you value your life, don't call it a "soft science."
New Priest Minion - Mindrender Illucia
Pretty crazy card for both standard and wild. Priest in both formats right now is strong against aggro, but weak against combo. This gives Priest very consistent combo disruption. As long as you time her right, Mindrender Illucia is a Dirty Rat that will always hit your opponents combo piece, so long as you have the mana to play and get rid of it. I wrongly assumed it was going to stay this way so our data import from the client today flagged all the dual-class cards as neutral!
This will be a fun update.
New Priest & Warlock Spell - Raise Dead
