Where did all the cards go
Final count: 35 of the 135 cards released feature some type of analog information repository (also known as a 'book', but it's fun to call nerds A.I.R.heads) in their art. About 25%. Things you didn't need to know!
I just realized that all classes have received some sort of spellburst card except for Demon Hunter and Warlock.
Maaaaaaaaaaaaaan, another expension without any paladin boardclear. Damn.
I very much doubt they will get a direct board clear. Lord Barov is about as good and gimmick as you would expect.
Must admit. First I was unwilling with this expansion but now I think that introduces the most interesting effects of all.
Besides spellburst some of the other mechanics as "tricking" your deck or manipulating your rival deck/hand are nice.
Anyway it seems an expensive expansion. Seems like most of the "needed" cards are epic or legendary. Bad times for bucket decks.
Great summary page with all the cards easily accessible. Looking forward to this expansion for many reason--flavorful theme, strong cards, new ideas and mechanics, and a shake up in the meta.
After seeing all of the cards, I am most excited to experiment with spell damage archetypes because it is one of my favorite mechanics to play with since the Rise of Shadows support.
Alright, it's less than a week for a new semester at Scholomance. Can't wait!!
Well now that we've seen every card i think this upcoming expansion and meta is gonna be very cool!
I like a lot of cards and there are many decks that can be played!
Are we Still missing a few of the Studies Cycle? A few classes seem not to have one of them thought every class was too have one
Indeed I thought all classes were getting Studies, and I'm quite disappointed that Paladin didn't get one.
I guess if Wave of Apathy is anything to go by the Paladins just didn't care to study this quarter
Nope. We've gotten all the cards.
Some classes got Studies, and some others didn't.
Pushed an update a little earlier to add multiclass cards to each of the class sections. They will still remain in their own sections too.
It looks good ! Neutrals, however, got pushed between Mage and Pally for some reason. I guess it counted Neutrals as N between M and P alphabetically. I think it would make much more sense to separate them, as usual.
These cards are truly powerful, and I'm gettin' pretty hyped for release. It seems like there will be a bunch of new decks to try.
That said, the flavor isn't there. Only a few of the legendaries (Druid, Warlock/Priest) have artwork that's reflected in the other class cards, so far, so most of the instructors just feel like random powerful blokes, disconnected from the setting. Take Mage, for instance - Mozaki, Master Duelist is a dude with pink hair and a sword. He's got nothing in common, art-wise, with Combustion or Lab Partner. And, speaking of Lab Partner, he's one of several cards which have flavor, but aren't that neat. Diligent Notetaker - yeah, he takes notes, but what does that have to do with Shaman? First Day of School - students, alright, but what's that got to do with Paladin? What about Frazzled Freshman is Priest-like?
There just aren't that many class-specific takes on what the classes do at Scholomance. I think Warlock/Priest is the best so far, with the ugly Disciplinarian Gandling and the Flesh Giant, obviously being some kind of nefarious backroom law enforcement bureaucracy. But what else? You'd think Mage would get a bunch of arcane, gnomely Professor Flitwicks casting charms and doing astronomy, Rogues would be shadowy figures sneaking around in artwork that references scenes in other classes' cards, Druids would be a bunch of gnarly Groot-likes sitting in a circle on the front lawn and doing herbology, and so on. There's a bit of that, but not enough - we need more cards like Glide, which zooms out and places that Demon Hunter in a school setting. That card lets me imagine something, lets me see what Demon Hunter students would be like at this school. Cards like Cycle of Hatred, though? Eh. That could be in any set.
Continuing with that idea of zooming more card artwork out a bit, to tell a greater story: what if they had included a mechanic like Rastakhan's class spirits? Each one could correspond and show a specific place in the school that would be referenced in the other class cards. I think that would do a great deal for establishing a school-y feeling, when looking at the set as a whole and when playing with the cards. Your opponent is a Warlock, and they slap down a 'Dungeon' card, that affects every minion on the board or spell played somehow. Alright - that feels like we're duking it out in the dungeon!
At the moment, Team 5 has uniformly decided that school equals one thing: BOOKS! I counted - 74 cards have been revealed, and 21 of them have some form of letters-on-a-page. About 30%!
Guys, this list will look better and be more useful if dual-class cards will go to each class of the duo.
For example, if I'm looking for priest cards, now there are 3 places in that list that I need to look. If all priest dual-class cards will be in priest (with Gift of Luminance present in both priest and paladin, same for warlock duos), all of information I seek will be in one place.
Yes, some cards will be listed twice, but I'm sure everyone will understand the reasons.
I hope the game displays the cards how you described.
The devs alredy confirmed it that it will be displayed in game as he said
MSG tri-class cards are listed under neutral in the game, so they might do the same thing. Or maybe listing a card three places was too much, but two will be okay?
