I've seen the Dragoon legendary themes video, and I've been wanting to ask this question for a long time. Where did their themes come from? I know Neltharion from GvG comes from Xaxas, though.
5 mana draw 2 cards has been seen in Druid with Aeroponics, which helped the Treant Token deck during the launch of DoD until the Year of the Raven Rotated out leaving some key Treant synergy cards out of standard.
Both Warrior and Rogue are prominent weapon classes, and both have also received some cards in this set that benefit from running weapons - Doctor Krastinov and SteelDancer, who either increase the attack and durabililty or summons additional minions based on weapon attack.
If discounted by (2) mana this card becomes the equivalent of Arcane Intellect, while not the most powerful draw spell in Hearthstone it is one of the most seen historically with Tempo and freeze mage.
2 deck archetypes that care about having weapons are the quests from Savior of Ulduum, Warrior requires weapons to accomplish the quest while Rogues gives a very beneficial weapon on their hero power. I feel that both decks were somewhat mid-range in playstyle, and mid-range can always use more draw.
The Galakrond decks can also utilize this card if they've been invoked enough times to equip the Weapon. play Galakrond, effect goes off, play this spell.
It can become a fairly cheap and flexible spell for both classes, I believe it will see some play on the ladder
3 mana for 3 damage AoE plus a 3/2 body is really good, the issue is does this make sense in a Tempo DH or will a slower DH make sense in Scholomance? Tempo DH cares a lot about early board presence, so I don't think this makes sense there. I also don't think a Midrange/Control DH has enough tools to work. Even if you run all the Soul Fragment package in DH, I don't think that's enough for a win condition, and slower DH don't have a consistent win condition now and they aren't getting much going into Scholomance. I think Shardshatter Mystic will work down the line, just not in the Scholomance meta.
I see no reason you run this over Illidari Felblade. Both need to be outcasted to get their full effect, but Felblade with rush at a base is more tempo driven than Vilefiend Trainer even with the 1-Health difference. With the Outcast, I'd gladly trade 2/3 in stats to be able to remove my opponents 3 or 4 drop for free. Also, Illidari Felblade doesn't even see play in DH right now and the token synergy of Vilefiend Trainer doesn't matter much since Token DH looks terrible going into this expansion.
Token DH is in a bad spot because the pay-offs it currently has aren't game-winning as well as the fact that one of DH's established class weaknesses is that they can't buff wide boards. This isn't that game-winning payoff and it's a terrible top deck. At least with OG Corridor Creeper if you top-decked it in the mid-to-late game it was a sizable threat and could be discounted easier, making Fel Guardians so much worse in context.
Yeah I have a feeling it's either the new game mode or just early preparation for the achievements, either way it should be pretty cool to get new hero skins, even if the classes they are going to are a bit over saturated hero-wise.
Marrowslicer curves extremely well into this and both cards offer a lot of face damage. I think this, plus Marrowslicer and Spirit Jailer offer a lot of good tempo and face damage that Tempo DH loves.
This weapon is really good in setting up insane turn 5 pressure turns in both Glaivebound Adept and Soulshard Lapidary, not to mention it's an aggressively stated weapon that might give you some heal down the line (which is pretty likely to happen with all the good card draw DH has). I think this as well as Soulshard Lapidary and Spirit Jailer offer really good tempo and burst for Tempo DH to return it to its former glory (which is scary).
I think this is the best Studies card. Rush is such a powerful mechanic, and there are so many good rush minions (and yes, a bunch of bad ones). Am I correct in recalling that Discover effects favor class cards over neutrals? If so, your chances of getting something awesome like Restless Mummy or Kargath Bladefist are increased.
No. You no longer get that increased chance for class cards in discovers. Gone since Uldum when it was apparent that shaggy was getting warrior too many copies of himself and Armagedillos.
MILL ROGUE IS THE SLEAZIEST, SLIMIEST AND SCUMMIEST DECK.
If you play this deck you are a GINORMOUS POS!!
I hate Rez Priest with a passion but nothing is sleazier than a sleazy mill rogue POS!!
Edit: I would also like to add that anyone playing that Druid deck where you get 1200 armor is also the scum of the earth. Thankfully I was playing Warlock and had a lot of healing so I made that scum suffer for as long as I could before dieing to fatigue.
Warrior's Execute spell is 2 mana to destroy any damaged minion. Rogue's Assassinate spell is 5 mana to destroy any minion it can target.
So on one hand, it's a more expensive execute, which means it's not as effective to use or efficient to play mana wise. However, since both classes tend to have trouble with single target removal outside Shield Bash for Warrior and Assassinate for Rogue, I can see both classes trying to utilize this spell.
Combos are fantastic spells because they're played after you've already done something, so you don't just spend a turn doing one thing.
on the other hand, for this spell to BE a more efficient assassinate you'll have to play something before it. Fortunately this set has seen a LOT of cheap 1 mana spells available to both classes that can be used to activate this spell.
IF combined with Cutting Class that's been discounted to (0) you can draw 2 cards AND remove any enemy minion for only 3 mana.
I used to be like that towards Druid and Shaman but I still eventually worked towards having some of their cards. My suggestion would be to start trying to go for the class when you eventually open an interesting looking legendary for it, or if you open a neutral that you can build around with the class
Paladin's spell Hand of Protection costs 1 mana to give a minion Divine Shield.
Warriors spell Rampage gives a damaged minion +3/+3 in stats for 2 mana.
So giving a damaged minion extra attack AND divine shield should be at least 2 mana, but here it's only 1, making it a very cost effective spell.
Both classes are known for running big minions with high health and taunts that take abuse from their opponents. I can see this spell being used on a taunt minion that's used to clear a weak minion on the opponents side of the field, and then applying this buff on it, making it more durable and making it more likely to destroy any enemy minion that might try to trade into it.
As mentioned this spell is very cheap and flexible, and can be used by both Paladins and Warriors to cheaply activate spell burst effects on their turns.
Just like any knowledge I have of WoW comes from Hearthstone, any knowledge of League of Legends I have comes from LoR...so I'm just excited for new cards and characters, regardless of what regions they come from!
Great card for Rogue. Hero power on turn 2, then dropping this on 3 is a great play for killing off any opponent minions. It's a consistent effect too, so even if you don't have a weapon equipped in the previous turn you can drop this no problem. Solid 3-drop.
This was my first new card back. I worked hard for it at the time. Just like I don't deserve the Naxxramas card back (because it predates this one), nobody who didn't get this at the time should have it.
But whatever. I won't have Naxxramas because I don't want to pay for it. LoR is making their money by monetizing their cosmetics; makes sense that Hearthstone should do this.
(Though, really, they should do it with NEW card backs...)
3/6 dragon on 4 is pretty good tempo, not to mention it's a good follow up to Stormhammer. Increasing that followup consistency for the weapon without sacrificing curve is deceptively powerful in Highlander Hunter. The spellburst is a nice addition, especially since Hunter is getting cheap spells like Demon Companion and Adorable Infestation. I don't think this sees play outside of Highlander Hunter because this seems only good in dragon decks that care about playing dragons for tempo and the statline might be too slow for Dragon Hunter.

The Cupcake Card Back (April 2015 Ranked Reward) Appears to be Returning to the Hearthstone Shop
I took a 6/7 month break from Hearthstone once and this is a cardback I could not get because of that. So I AM gonna pay My 500 gold for it :)

Our Thoughts on Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy Druid/Shaman Dual Class Cards
I feel like the fact that they specify "Treant Totems" means they must also have Treant synergy, no?
