I only have one Backroom Bouncer somehow, so I added a Faceless Corruptor.  I also removed one Feast of Souls and added a Witch's Cauldron.  Seems like a fun deck.  Only 3 games so far, but 2-1.  Here is one of the replays (beating a Resurrection Priest) that actually showcases the usefulness of the Cauldron.

When you've been a part of something for a long time, sometimes you just need a change of pace or maybe even a greater challenge. Exploring new paths with your career can help you improve in so many different ways, and with how old Hearthstone is now, it isn't too surprising that the older, more known members of the team, have all been leaving.

I don't think Blizzard is in the clear though, you've definitely seen changes there over the past handful of years that in my eyes could cause people to want to jump ship. Even the leadership of the company left within the past couple of years which is pretty crazy.

Overall though, the Hearthstone team is a couple hundred people at this point so a couple of leaves over the past year isn't too crazy. And since a good chunk of those that left remained at Blizzard to work on other projects, it's not likely anything wrong internally but more so the desire to create new things has overtaken the deep love for Hearthstone. I can't speak for any of them, but I know I'd be excited about new projects.

Working at Blizzard, but not Team 5 though.  I hope that Team 5 is still a great place to work as it always seemed to look after it's people.

Just seems a lot have people have left it - but that might be quite normal.  Fingers crossed they recruit great people still.

    D4 purposely has no deadline.

If they fail to meet the deadline on a project with none, they really suck or are working with zero resources allocated.

Hadidjah is still working at Blizzard so I guess it's either just them wanting a personal change or the best people are being pulled onto what is seen as the most important project.

I'm not going to downvote you - I understand why All Lives Matter is considered by some to be potentially racist.  Though I personally don't actually agree it is all cases because many (including me) would mean the literal meaning of it without any negative subtext.  But I don't tweet it or have it tattooed on my forehead as I know it may give the wrong impression to some.

I think both ALM and BLM are perfectly reasonable things to think and say - depending on context, intent and audience of course.  There seems to be a consensus amognst many on Social media that ALM is racist in all circumstances which I find to be a shame.  Not helped that some have used it in a racist manner designed to downplay issues that many black people face.

For the avoidance of doubt, let me state (as I have a few times on this site), that my default position is to treat everyone with respect and fairly irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation/identity.  I expect people to behave reasonably without unnecessarily causing harm to others whatever the demographic of the individual.  And people that flout that should be stopped from doing so - again reasonable and appropriate to those specific circumstances.

Sorry for posting this here - one has to be careful where you express these things and the vast majority of members here seem reasonable.  Just feels good to put down my thoughts somewhere.

And if people reading this don't agree with the above - that's totally fine and I respect that too.  Maybe I'm wrong (a good thing to consider whatever your views are on any subject).  I hope it's recognized that it was coming from a good place wishing fairness for all though.  If you are reading this in the future and terms I've used are now ultra offensive, please consider it in the time and with the intent I wrote it.

Is this normal churn of staff or is there something very wrong internally?

Whether that's management, the company itself or other issues? I guess we can only speculate.

All the best to  all those that have left recently.

Good luck, Hadidjah. I actually never realized they were non-binary before this.

P.S. I cut down on logging in to Hearthpwn when they posted Blizzard's announcement about BLM and the comment section was so racist I had to report half of them and post one myself explaining why "all lives matter" is a racist statement (that comment got a record number of downvotes). They just posted this themselves, and referred to Hadidjah as "she". I logged in just to make sure my guess was correct, and lo and behold, it was.

So far my correction comment that mentioned Hadidjah is NB got 4 downvotes and counting. I'll probably monitor this for a few days and then neverlog into that sit ever again.

My point is: Thank you OOC for being an inclusive, nice, and respectful alternative to Hearthpwn. You were right to leave.

I finished the Warlock grind in a try hard session yesterday. I'm very happy since it's my favorite golden portrait.

    Current standings:

    Hunter 1011, Mage 1044, Warlock 501, Paladin 240, Warrior 253, Demon Hunter 158, Shaman 69, Rogue 89, Priest 134, Druid 158

Of course I immediately updated my Wall of Fame as well :)

I'll enjoy playing whatever I feel like for some time now, not looking at the numbers ;-)

  • On the Great Akazazamamamarakkaa

I just wanted to put this out there for people to comment on. I had an idea for the Great Ak.'s ability in Battlegrounds. What do you guys think if his ability was costed at 0 gold and gave you an option of 3 secrets. When you choose a secret, you lose gold equal to the cost of the secret. If you're at 0 gold when you use the ability, it does nothing; if at 1 gold, it only offers 1 cost secrets; at 2 gold, it offers 1 and 2; and at 3+ gold it offers the entire pool.

Idk, makes his ice block weaker, but could make him more useful overall?

  • Nerfs are Around the Corner! Our Thoughts on the Upcoming July Hearthstone Balance Changes

    Staff

I mean yes, that could have easily been the decision and it would also make sense. That being said, they rather nerf cards than buff them, so making a decision to release cards on a higher power level and see what's what with a commitment to adjust when needed was not a terrible one imho. If they went ahead and released some of those cards in their now nerfed state, i think a lot of ppl would not even give them time of day.

Hard to say for sure what went behind the scenes, but it is the first new class added to the game since the launch, so i think it is a learning experience for everyone.

  • A change to filter out advertising and spambots

    Staff

While i understand where you're coming from, we do not want to create any such obstacle for newcomers, having to "spam" forum just to be able to post a link to the picture you want to share with others? Not a great experience.

We are always working on ways to tackle spambots, reporting them definitely helps. We hope to implement a better system in the future to deal with them better.

Oh damn, I will miss them! Them coming out as nb made me so happy and they did such an amazing job during their time in the Hearthstone team. Can't wait to see what happens next in their life.

as a main mage player i have the heart broken for the Dragoncaster nerf, mostly because she help me to stay alive against dh and hunter, but i totally understand it, the bad designed Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron on six (or five) is stupid. i hope the next expansion mage gets some consistent spells like Deep Freeze and not random based ones.

    Quote From OldManSanns
    Quote From Vandaren

Yeah i probably will play every other third day just to clear quest like you said, thank you good mate!

For me, letting go of that urgency to clear quests was a huge milestone.  I know it feels a bit like leaving money on the proverbial table, but look at it this way: quests only grant you gold, and gold is only good for buying packs and arena tokens.  If you're not really interested in crafting new decks or doing arena runs, then packs and tokens should have minimal value to you--therefore it should be totally rationale to prefer to spend 30 minutes doing something that might actually have a small improvement on your life (e.g., sleep an extra 30 min / watch a TV show / surf internet / chat with friends / etc) rather than perform a task which will only have insignificant benefit.

    Good luck!

Yes, i feel obliged to do quest and ofc its just feeling, right. But when we put rationale in it like you said then we can see things clearly. Gotta fight the feeling then.

    Thx, Sanns!!

  • Midrange: Ghoul Demon Hunter

It's decks like this that keep Hearthstone fun.  I looked through this list and was like "Hey!  Some of these cards still exist!"  Like Volcanic Drake... What?!  Or Necrotic Geist... What's this old Arena card doing in here?  Thought that was deleted from the game.  LOL

  • Nerfs are Around the Corner! Our Thoughts on the Upcoming July Hearthstone Balance Changes

Hearthstone has 10 classes now and its not always possible to design cards so all classes have decks that can triumph with pure skill alone. That 1 mana hp in dhunters are pretty broken, but as much as I don't like it I'm having trouble thinking up a suitable replacement for it. At very least they're actively making changes so the OP levels of stupid are being toned down, even if cautiously slow. Dhunters are in a better spot than they ever had, and with the nerf to Warglaives of Azzinoth, nearly everything that was oppressive have been addressed one way or another (not referring to wild, obviously. That's another level of stupid worth its own discussion thread).

Yes, priest is a scourge filled with RNG, along with mage (mostly due to The Amazing Reno). If this continues, it wouldn't surprise me if Thoughtsteal gets nerfed back to 3. But that's the thing, I can look forward to something being done about it. Its easy to forget that just over 1.5 years ago nerfs/changes are pretty much down to once or twice per expansion, and usually the size of nukes.

Team5 have recently come down on the RNG aspect of the game and we are led to believe the next expansion will have less of it, so there's something to look forward to. Take a break, like I had in June when I had the unfortunate bad taste of trying to climb with libram paladin. New expansions' in 3 weeks
