  • Problems Completing the Trial by Felfire Legendary Quest? Blizzard is Working on a Resolution

    I ma hesitant to complete the remainder of the adventure.  I did what I needed to get the reward, but I'm wondering if Blizzard will try to "make up" for frustrations some players are experiencing by giving other quests to complete other parts of the adventure.

    Then again, this was "free" content so who knows...

    @ anchorm4n: Maybe something like this? I agree the effect doesn't need to be legendary. It doesn't stack (twice doesn't become thrice) so having two just makes it more consistent. It also isn't that powerful and hard to pull off; something like this is probably destined to be meme-y which is okay. I lowered the mana to 5 since with the randomness it can't be abused as easily. Thanks for the feedback! :)

  • What creature is this?

    I’m not an expert but it looks like a crawfish to me

    I would say it's the same as Galakrond's awakening but for only 1 side (Either the LoE or Evil league)

    I was frustratingly surprised at how challenging some of the bosses are (namely Mother Shahraz)  but overall, considering this is free content, they did a good job.

  • Twin Slice is Being Changed in a Patch Tomorrow! Higher Cost but Higher Attack

    I was in Wild only for about a year, but quit it for Standard about two months ago. It's hard to believe that with every card in existence, the meta in Wild feels even more stale than Standard. With all the constant tinkering the team does with expansions, releases, buffs, HoF, and nerfs, Standard at least sees a little more churn.

    Overall, I was a bit underwhelmed with the adventure.  But hey, it was free!

  • What creature is this?

  • The Confession Thread - we won't judge you!

    I absolutely love secret mage. I play a Fire Mage in WoW and this is what comes closest to that fantasy.

  • Trial by Felfire Opinions

    Wasn't a fan of this one, I eventually had to turn off the sound as I couldn't handle the constant interrupting rhymes.
    The last couple of solo content has had this annoying habit of 'speech-bubbles' popping up that get in the way of gameplay, I'd be fine with it if I could keep playing normally while the narrating happened.

    Also had some problems with outcast not working correctly at times, but that's obviously a bug.

  • Trial by Felfire, the Ashes of Outland Story, Releases Today!

    So I beat all 5 chapters last night, and it was an entertaining jog. I'm not going to complain about how easy it was (I even lost twice), but the final test just... ended. It wasn't clear to me what triggered the win condition. I had stabilized at pretty high health and was probably considered to be winning. I don't think I had even knocked down the opponent's HP to even 50% when it stopped and went into the final dialogue. It felt very anti-climactic.

  • Would you like ranked to allow for side boards?

    It would add an additional waiting time.

    I like the idea in general, but because of the additional time the limit of cards that can be replaced should not exceet like 6-9 cards.

  • Muligan system needs work.

    I have the same feeling. I always thought it is bad luck. I put away my Riptide Rex and of course I will draw a new one immediately.

    But a mechanic which would prevent drawing another one of the cards you put back in the deck might be a not so good idea either.

    If it really is the randomizer that is broken, that may be an easy fix. If it really is bad luck... well... it's bad luck.

    You should add "(targets chosen randomly)" at the end of it. Interesting idea! I'm not sure if it has to be a legendary, though. It needs quite a setup and the reward isn't that good, at least as long as you don't give her the Solarian Prime treatment ("(targets enemies if possible)") which might actually be a cool idea for your card.

    that what they respond to me today:

    "Heya! Sorry to hear you've been having trouble with the quest Happy Felfire Festival. We've identified some issues with the quest completing properly, from your description it sounds like that's what's happening here. The Developers are currently working on getting it fixed, so hopefully it'll be working again soon. The Support Team don't have any way to complete the quest or advance its progress I'm afraid, so it'll be a case of waiting for the fix to be applied. We'll have that sorted as soon as possible. Thanks for your understanding, and apologies again for the inconvenience."

    Staff

    You can even guarantee it gets to attack if you tech in a Divine Shield/Taunt. Then only a few cards can kill it, mostly pings.

  • How does one go about implementing this into their games?

    First, at the start of the game, you need to figure out what is your win condition and what is your opponent's one.
    If the opponent on average can reach their win condition faster then you can, then usually you have to play from a control position and do your best to deny their win condition, even if your deck is build to be aggressive.

    Playing as agressor: There is almost no reason to slowdown. Every turn wasted is a turn your adversary will be closer to their win condition.
    The exceptions are to:
    1- Protect one Key Card from being removed;
    2- Bait a Keycard from your opponent into a bad situation;
    3- Delay a given combo due not having enough mana to pull it off or the pieces are not assembled yet;
    4- You already have Lethal next turn;
    5- etc;

    Playing as control: You want to slowdown as much as possible. If the other player passes a turn without playing anything, always consider the possibility to end the turn right away, even if that means losing the attack token or waste mana.

    Game example: Shadow Island(Elise + Kalista) vs Bilgwaters/Piltover (Heimerdinger + Twisted Fate)

    Its Turn 4. You are the agressor and have the attack token, 4 mana and no spell mana. Adversary has 6 mana (4 + 2 spell mana) and also 5 cards on his hand.
    Hand: Vile Feast, Crawling Sensation, Kalista, Elise, Hapless Aristocrat, Brood Awakening
    Board: Spiderling + Spiderling + Spiderling. Nothing on the other side.

    What do you do? Take some time to answer those questions before clicking the spoiler tag:
    1- Do you open attack? If not, which followers you play first if any?
    2- Assume he passes his turn back to you after being attacked or a follower was played, what do you do now?
    3- What cards are you expecting he may play on T4?
    4- What is the best next T5 play he may do?

    Answer:

    Show Spoiler
    The worst possible move is to either summon Elise or Kalista BEFORE he plays Twisted Fate, as Twisted Fate + Mystic Shot will completely erase your board.

    This is how i would play my turn:
    1- I play Hapless Aristocrat. Its turn 4, so with that play i am expecting to bait his Twisted Fate given the board. A weak player will fall for this almost 100%. Once he plays Twisted Fate, i play Elise + Crawling Sensation and attack with everything, making Elise evolve by the end of the turn.
    A strong player would pass the turn back instead.
    2- I attack. He may play Make it Rain here.
    An average player would play Twisted Fate now. A strong player would still pass.
    3- I pass the turn with 3 mana without playing anything else. To be fair, now i am in a bit of an awkward position as i am either forced to gamble he didn't draw Twisted Fate and risk a bad move playing either Elise or Kalista or just pass my turn and set up Brood Awakening next turn.
    His best T5 play is HeimendingerBADCARDNAME + 3 mana spells, so setting up Brood Awakening is the superior choice, since this option won't give him good targets for his spells

  • Would you like ranked to allow for side boards?

    Like MTG. With a max of like 10 cards you can swap in or out at the start of a match once you see their champions/regions. The side boards would be limited to only none champions and spells and you can't change your region combo either or add one if your using a mono deck.

  • D-A-M-A-G-E - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

    Not sure on the wording for this as there isn't a "While ..." effect for Spell Damage yet, but I think it makes sense. For balance, my thinking is that, in most cases, you will need to have up at least one Spell Damage minion, because it's hard to play this, minions, and a spell in the same turn. I like when cards like this are neutral because each class can experiment with it in different ways, but it might make more sense as a Mage card, where you can more reasonably increase the power level. Note, you don't have to play a damage spell with this.

    Good job!

  • Hearthstone's Battlegrounds is Getting a Balance Patch on June 18 - Hero & Minion Changes Detailed

    The change does two things to the Macaw Goldrinn build, which is insanely easy to do as long as you can find the Goldrinn, since there are SO many Macaws in the pool. By making it a tier 3 unit, it makes it so that the swings from the macaw come at least 3-4 turns later, reducing the damage spikes in the early game, and giving more time to assemble builds. It moving to tier 3 also reduces the number in the pool, making it harder to see, and way harder to golden. I've been in games where multiple people had golden Macaws, it was crazy. Overall, I think its a pretty good change.

  • Muligan system needs work.

    Most of the time if you throw back a few cards its fine but when you are throwing back just one card the system fudges up. The chances are insanely high that you will end up getting the exact same card back if you only muligan one away. Over many many games I have tested it and like close to 80% of the time you get the same exact card back. Unless of course you only have the one. But if you have two there is a good chance you will get it back. If you have 3 its damn near a guaranty. If you have three don't even bother trying to muligan it.

    Oh and if it does get you something different you can bet that card will pop back up within the next one or two draws anyway.

  • Trial by Felfire Opinions

    It feels lacking. In my opinion it is certainly among the worst HS Solo Contents released so far (Galakronds Awankening already was pretty disappointing).

    Story-wise it is ok, maybe a bit uninspired but overall ok. My main issue is the replayability, escpecially when you compare it to the previous dungeon-run style adventures. In the Dungeon Runs you had different hero classes, a variety of treasures and card buckets and quite a lot of bosses (some pretty rare, so you might only encounter them in your 10th run or so). In short much more variety and thus at least some replayability. In comparison the current Adventure feels extremely linear and boring to me. It was slightly interesting the first time but I don't really want to play it again. Dungeon runs were much better imho.

    Maybe a month from now it will cost 0.

  • What creature is this?

    I'd call an animal organisation, if I were you. My father found a bat on his balcony two years ago and he wanted it to be in some place safe. He called the animal organisation in our city and he was advised to bring the bat there.

    So, if you contact the experts in your country, they could tell you what to do with this "lobster". They might even decide to go to your place and pick it up for themselves.

  • The Pepper Thread - Share Some Good Vibes!

    Very general pepper, but I'm really enjoying playing the new solo adventure! The rhyming does grow a little tedious, but I find myself actually shouting "GO, GO" at the characters in my head ... and aloud ...
