I do this too - delay the acceptance until the potential troll has cooled down.
I also occasionally add an opponent to say GG or to give them praise for using a creative deck that I've never seen before on ladder. I am not a deck creator type, so all of my decks are net decks or community creations.
I always play home-brew, off-meta decks so friend requests come much more frequently from people genuinely curious about what I was playing than from salty kids. Because of that I always accept friend requests expecting a decent, friendly conversation to come out of it.
On the flip side, the occasional salt-driven friend requests are amusingly perplexing, and I always respond as politely as possible as I try to find out what exactly their problem was. Often they unfriend me before I can quiz them on it though, which is a shame.
Here's something I have found works particularly well for getting genuine friend requests: play a full golden 30 legendary deck. It's jolly expensive but it pays for itself in friendship...
I never accept the request immediately, because these BM get their negative satisfaction from the bare utterance, independently of your reaction (some remove friendship before you can reply).
So I deny them that permission.
I can never laugh from such a behavior anyway.
BUT I add them in my next session, hours later, just in case they are actually smart people (I periodically clean my list from inactives).
Personally, I often add people after what I felt was a great match (win or lose) because I want to say GG! People rarely accept, obviously because of what you describe above (yeah, I've been flamed a bunch of times). When they do accept, sometimes we both just say GG, but other times, we have a really great conversation about the match or the game in general. Then I have more dudes on my friends list who might share an 80 gold challenge with me, or whom I can spectate for that quest. Heck, sometimes I just spectate a friend to see what other people are playing!
I wish more people would use this feature positively, so that you're not cringing when you see that "A recent opponent would like to be your friend!" Yeah, usually they're not looking to be your friend. But hey, sometimes they are!
Thanks everyone for the hints! I have felt like a right idiot during most of this. I have two HS clues left: #1 and #16. One question for both: are both of the solutions "collectible" cards pages?

I"m still stuck on 9, 15, and 17. I thought that I figured out 15 and 17, but I keep coming up with blanks. As far as 9 goes, I'm lost.
I've read through all the comments and I'm still stuck. Any help?

I got it now, with your hint and another. Kinda embarrassing I didn't think of that given my current forum title ;)
