I haven't given Boss Rush any serious tries yet, partly because I wanted to max my new Undead gang first, and partly because it feels like I'd really have to focus on one comp.
Same here, I am also maxing out my Undead mercenaries first. Just nine more upgrades left, using renown trades only. Afterwards, I hope Old Guardian has figured out the best comp for completing the entire boss rush mode which I will gladly pilot to complete the related achievements with.

Nagas? Nature? Who gets the rest of my Renown and who gets sidelined for eternity? (a bit over-dramatic, I know)
I was wondering how long it would be before someone started a thread about Boss Rush. Thought about doing it myself several times. It just shows how little Mercenaries gets played anymore, and that was little enough to begin with.
To answer your question, I've been following Old Guardian for tips here. My experience has been that as long as you're comfortable fighting the bosses at fairly low levels, any comp that was strong in Bounty mode will be strong in Boss Rush. For those who haven't done a lot of renown-buffing, be warned: all upgrades to abilities and equipment are cheap up to level 10, then the renown cost increases steeply. This means you can spend a relatively small amount of renown and buff a squad to where they can face most Rushes at level 50. To go higher, you need to spend more renown. Old Guardian has found a few broken strategies revolving around treasures, which means you need to survive the first boss without treasures, then hope you get offered the ones you've buffed. The nastiest game is the Celestial Protection treasure, which with enough buffs and a little luck, your Mercs are essentially invulnerable. I've been beating level 75 bosses with this comp all week. OG also tried something with the Artillery Fire treasure, which has the potential to kill bosses before they even get their stat buffs.
I like that you're playing nagas instead of the "ol reliable" fire or nature comps. I think there is a lot of room to develop fun and VARIED comps, but the renown cost is so steep! Anyone who wants to aim to eventually take down level 500 bosses is going to need some ridiculous amount of renown.
Here's one I've just noticed: If you have played Dreadlich Tamsin and shuffled the imp-summon spell into your deck, then played Scourge Supplies and drawn the imp-summon spell, it summons the imp and draws you a new card as normal, then you get the next 2 cards as options to discard, but NOT the first "draw". This makes the spell much worse. I think this could very well be working as intended, since the imp-summon spell is technically the card drawn by Supplies. I think it would be better if you were offered all 3 options as the card reads, then if you choose not to discard the imp-summon spell, it goes off.
I agree. But I'm also willing to help if I can and maybe other people are, too.
@Flux: What would you expect from a potential new staff member? How much time should one be able to invest per day / per week? Are there any tasks that don't require specific knowledge? Like I'd have a hard time writing guides for achievement decks cause I'm a bad deck builder, but I can easily write news articles about stuff like the mentioned announcement of the announcement. Other people will have other skills, but we need a better understanding of what you need. Maybe you can put out job descriptions with your next recruiting form?
This is just my opinion secretly living on this site for a couple years. Also just a disclaimer that I'm not complaining about these issues, just highlighting them and my concern as I really want to see this site succeed as the place to go for all Hearthstone news.
Here are some rough concerns I've recently noticed but I can definitely understand real life gets in the way at times.
The current Tavern Brawl is showing as closed at the time of writing
The new expansion announcement of the announcement was hidden in this buddies update but neither have been covered at the time of writing
Since Avalon's departure, I've sorely missed the Achievement guides and duels meta updates (these things happen though so it's understandable)
In general I've felt the number of HS articles have declined to a point where the main page shows more Marvel Snap articles than HS 😓
I can totally understand things get in the way of this awesome site. Just hope things pick up and maybe we get more staff to add some more guides/meta updates etc.
You are not wrong. My main deck is just heavy disruption and I just rely on screwing with whatever my opponent wants to do.
I tried to play decks with a plan, but I have been screwed over too many times, so I just decided to join the other side to not lose constantly. Maybe at higher ranks it is different, but I usually hover around 40 with the amount of time I tend to spend on the game.
I'm in the camp that cards like these can't really be fixed. Nothing like them should ever have been printed in the first place.
This is why I uninstalled the game. They have shown that they will just keep making cards that ruin the opponent's fun, and I'm not into a game where the players are constantly, incessantly, looking for the best way to ruin their opponents' fun.
But the battlecry was not successful. A minion changes sides after his board-side-id changed. In this case, it never did, because there was no room. So my guess is this, regarding the order:
1. Battlecry cast
2. Battlecry effect activation =>
2.1. Enemy minion targetted
2.2. If (board on your side has room)
{
Move minion to your side
Change board side id
Change visuals accordingly
}
Else => Kill minion => if (minion has deathrattle) trigger it; Else => trigger other effects if any
Most of these seem like a reasonable suggestions. I play Iceman and Aero myself, and I think I still would play Iceman, not sure about Aero, she would need a stat increase.
Leech is just annoying when they can get him out early and basically screw your entire strategy.
Shuri is just broken beyond any means at 4-power, too much possibilities she opens.
Lockjaw and Quinjet are fair suggestions, tho im not sure if ppl would still play Lockjaw afterwards, but i wouldnt mind, it creates really annoying games where it either works well, or it doesnt. I know that is the kinda of situations Snap, and other games like it, do on purpose to create high highs and lows so it is a conscious design choice.
So before when I talked about rotation I said two things one don't rotate Champs that see a lot of play and 2 don't rotate region staples.
Turns out that's exactly what they are doing and why?
Like I get its a decent control card has been for a long time, but now spider tribal is worse, icefrost legacy is worse, all of SI control is worse.
Its decisions like this where I'm like...I just dont get it.
Maybe they feel that overall power levels of all decks are too damn high?
So just kill the staples that have over performed since vanilla?
Better get rid of vengence too then I guess?
Riot has no clue what they are doing honestly we've had two back to back amazing metas and they are caving to the "pro player" whining.
Also this is what happened to Gwent by the way ^ they started listening to their "pro" players and made it so gold cards were worse then bronze cards and nobody wanted to play anymore.
Don't listen to pros, pros or dumb. They do one thing and one thing well grind meta decks to high ranks, hell I hit masters and if I had no life I could grind to the leader boards.
It's not hard to win when you have the best deck doesn't mean you understand card design and balance trust me they are dumb.
You're right in general, but Sylvanas takes control over a minion by her battlecry, thus giving me the control over the minion before the deathrattle occurs. The DR triggers after the battlecry, so it "should" be my deathrattle.
Same here, I am also maxing out my Undead mercenaries first. Just nine more upgrades left, using renown trades only. Afterwards, I hope Old Guardian has figured out the best comp for completing the entire boss rush mode which I will gladly pilot to complete the related achievements with.

I agree Hearthstone content is nowadays posted fewer and farther between compared than before indeed.
By the way, why did Avalon leave OoC? Does anybody know? I will miss his achievements guides and other things.

Yes, guys, I'm totally with you.
This amazing home page is my "feeling home" page and my browser opening page since years.
Most likely because there were always the newest issues directly, specially the issues for "duels", I loved the most

Fully agree. I am disappointed as well about the lack of HS support. Even weekly brawls are forgotten ...

Control Warrior (Season 107 - Legend)
Neb, I followed your lead and took this deck to Legend.
Abomination in particular really seems to confuse the bots. They fill their board, and then kill it.
I don't think I'll bother with Classic mode again, but it was nice to hit Legend with zero stress!

Oh no! Only for pro players!

We need something that stops "always active" effects.
Also the first player advantage needs to go. Cards that remove stuff need to affect unrevealed cards also.

The Only Constructed Deck Worth Playing.
Reno is a tool to get us there! If you shuffle the Tesses and she has the cards to back it up, Reno is not needed
[Game] Card Treasure Hunt (Hearthstone Riddles)
None of those.

If you shuffle Tess, then Reno will not work anymore
