  • A slight problem I see with Runeterra's reward system.

    Staff

As others have said, this has always been the case, not only in Runeterra. There isnt really an easy "fix" for this, for example you cant base it on the game length, then you would promote roping, which no one wants.

  • What is your most unreasonable dislike of a deck?

for me its resurrect preist because you need no skill to play it its just play taunts like Khartut Defender and Convincing Infiltrator then Mass Resurrection and you basically win the game .And sometimes res preist runs quest which makes this archetype even more stupid because  if you literally damage anything and it lives the preist can use that to complete the quest and the quest reward is really good restore 3 health  and if its a minion restore 3 health and give it +3/+3 why? Your just asking for the preist to buff a minion to 14/14 stats so it can hit you in the face

TLDR: res preist is stupid because of really good taunts and resurrect which brings back those taunts along with quest which at times is really stupid and in my opinion op

  • How to handle burn decks?

Simple question hopefully with a simple answer. I'm relatively new to the game as one might imagine and I'm just completely over burn decks at this point. I don't mind aggro, hell I don't even mind all the elusives I face, but the burn decks imparticular have just about turned me off playing because it's all I ever see.

Hoping someone more experienced here could help me make a deck or point me towards one that is good at countering the burn decks. I'm not trying to climb super fast or anything, I'm just tired of lulunavoidabledamage all day. It's not fun being on a hard timer from turn one >>. Thanks for the advice in advanced, I really appreciate it.

  • What kind of design is that?

Did you fail to notice the unyielding spirit on the card? It can't be damaged or killed. It's a stupid card with very few counters. Recall, obliterate or silence...that is it. Also since it's a champion, silence isn't even an option.

  • A Chance Encounter

    I don't like this.

*edit* I got a golden Brightwing in the pack so I guess I can't really complain.

  • What kind of design is that?

Edit: wasn't aware that that was the unyielding spirit icon

    Hey out of cards,

    I created this thread :

    https://outof.cards/forums/hearthstone/deck-building/4080-finished-climb-to-legent-with-odemians-bomb-warrior-have-a-look

People asked questions and I wanted to reply but I never managed to reply to the people I wanted. For example, if I click reply under Marega's post (1st one) my comment will appear (at least on my screen) as a reply to Bersak's post (last comment when I replied).

I tried to deleted and repost many times until I just gave up.

I use Firefox on windows 10.

    Hi, Gwavana,

"Reply" is a bit misleading as to what it does, or rather what it does in Forums. Forums have a different structure than Comments (articles, decks etc.). When you reply in a Forum Thread, that post will always be last (=newest) no matter what and there are no nested conversations, that wouldnt work and it wouldnt make sense for that anyway.

If you want to reply to a specific comment use Quote button, that way the comment will be added to your post and the reader and everyone else will know which post are you replying to ;-)

As Xarkkal said, for Forums, it is better to use Quote instead of Reply, so everyone who reads your post knows what is going on.

I like the first one better but I would change the coma to an and, also the number 3 is good.

So far people are suggesting that the Malchezaar, the Terror card cost 5, 8, 9, and 10.  This probably means it’s hard to know how good it is without actually playing it as its effect could be positive or negative in different situations (against combo random legendaries in their deck slows them down but against aggro it could give them more value).  I will probably go with a weighted average and cost it at 8 mana.  Compared to twisting nether it might not remove everything but it will negate deathrattles and has a body.

When you hit "Reply" to a comment, it puts the comment at the end of the thread, but it sends a notification to the user you are replying to that you replied to their comment. If you are replying to an older comment in the thread, I would suggest hitting the "Quote" button, so others reading the forum know what post you are replying to.

How to win against dumb shit like that?

  • Classically Trained - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread

I had another idea for my card, let me know which one you think is better.

    Show Spoiler
The original card:                      My other idea:

One question, is it better to spell out "three" and "four" or is it better to simply put the number "3" and "4"? I would assume you could do either one, but whichever one makes the text look neater is better.

Some more feedback for those who haven't submitted:

    Show Spoiler
@Xarkkal, I think I like the card best when it adds 5 secrets at full cost. As we have seen from the first Subject 9, adding 5 secrets to your hand is very valuable. Playing 1 card to get 5 cards is already worth the Highlander restriction, making them cost 1 feels like overkill.

@Thez, I like the warrior version better. It is powerful and flavorful.

@shaveyou, I definitely think the first version is better. It has a nice police/law enforcement vibe with taxing your opponents minions. I would give it 4 stars, withholding one star only because I don't find anything particularly exceptional about it. It is fair, but not amazing.

@Swizard, I think either 9 or 10 mana would be fair. A total board wipe is worth 8 mana, add a body to that and it is worth more. You are also denying the opponent any opportunity to resurrect those minions, and you are shuffling some irrelevant draws into their deck. All in all it is a pretty cool card.

@DecentOfDragonsOP, The Battlecry feels a bit weird, it is like Tree of Life only worse, and Tree of Life is a pretty bad card. I like the Heal Druid support, but I would make the Battlecry a bit more relevant. Maybe make it restore 10 health? or 15? *edit* I see you adjusted the Battlecry and I think it looks much better now.

@MenacingBagel, The card looks fine, but I am not sure how this card would be useful in-game. Basically, this card is 4 mana 3/4 Fungal Enchanter. I would maybe give him Elusive and change Pixi Dust to something more useful.

@Zeratia, first of all, this should say "Deathrattle" not "when this dies". That aside, the card looks really easy to abuse. You could transform or silence this guy and your opponents minions would never wake up. Now, playing an 8 mana card combined with another card to get rid of 3 minions isn't OP, it is the Dormant thing that worries me. If you do prevent this guy from triggering his Deathrattle then your opponent now only has 4 spaces on the board. Perhaps you could change it to work more like Carnivorous Cube where it destroys the minions instead of making them go dormant.

  • Canceling discard spell on mobile—help please!

    Quote From Dlove

for regular spells like Get Excited I can just drag the spell back to my deck, but I can’t seem to do that for the discard ones because my hand just magnifies and takes over a lot of the screen.  Thanks!

Get Excited! is a discard spell too?  Regardless: on the PC interface, you do the same thing you mention: drag the circular spell icon from the battlefield back to your hand, and the spell automatically aborts.  Rummage is a bit special in that its burst speed so it fires as soon as you select the cards, but again you can still put it on the stack and take it off before selecting to abort it.  You mention iOS but I think this may have more to do with your screen size: I have a 8.5" Android tablet that I play on sometimes, and I recall still being able to see both the spell icons and my hand.

It could just be a quality-of-life issue for phone users that Riot has yet to address.  There will be a new infrastructure patch on Tuesday morning; maybe it will include something for this.

  • A slight problem I see with Runeterra's reward system.

I tend to prefer slower decks in CCGs, and I've been playing a fair amount of Runeterra since beta. Honestly, I don't think the gap is all that meaningful. I've been able to use the region rewards to focus in on regions that support the styles of play I enjoy, and those rewards combined with the weekly vault provide enough shards and wild cards to support building toward those types of decks. Even playing slow decks, I've found it's consistently easy to get to a vault between Level 5 and 10 in any given week by just getting completing my daily quests and getting a couple of wins.

I haven't completed every region, and I'm probably "missing out" on some rewards the way you're thinking about it, but it doesn't much matter if I miss out on some pile of aggro tools, since I've got what I want to play already.

  • A slight problem I see with Runeterra's reward system.

    Quote From Vincent3383

So basically if you want to either climb the ranks or unlock rewards fast you will have to play an aggro deck.

Fair point, but I would argue that this interaction is representative of every digital card game.  In Hearthstone for example, people will often speak about having 2 decks to climb ladder: a win-fast/lose-fast aggro deck to climb all the lower rungs and then a higher-winrate-but-slow control deck for the upper rungs.

  • A slight problem I see with Runeterra's reward system.

but that "issue" has always been there for card games. ppl that wanted to rank fast or get the 100g per day on HS have the same problem. aggro might win less but clocks in more wins per hour which translates in more gold earned and a faster climb. its not a Runeterra problem and its not a "problem" either. its just the nature of card games

  • Why bother mulliganing if the game is going to give you the same cards again anyway?

    Quote From meisterz39
Sorry in advance, I know I'm being pedantic here (because you're basically right), but not all games remove your original hand from the mulligan pool.

No, no, point taken. I can be pretty pedantic myself, so I actually appreciate being called out on details I may get wrong :).

Personally, I think the way it works (at least I'm pretty sure it does) in Hearthstone and Runeterra is ideal: You can't redraw the exact same instance of a card you chose to mulligan, but you can draw another copy of it. In Magic, redrawing from your full deck makes swapping cards weaker, while a theoretical mulligan variant preventing the player from drawing a copy of the swapped-out card feels a bit too strong.

  • A slight problem I see with Runeterra's reward system.

It heavily favors aggro decks. I have a really good frostbite control deck that is fun to play and has a ridiculously high win rate. I have even pushed decks like Ezreal and Karma, Deep Monsters, and Yasuo Control to just running out of cards and losing to milling out. The decks not even made for that. Its just made to stall while throwing in chip damage here and their till you get the two finishers.

The problem comes in where I also have an aggro deck that is a net deck (Burn Aggro). It wins way less but gets more rewards. Like say I win 5 games in a row with the control deck and the aggro deck wins 3 out of 5. Well the control got more rewards right? Not when you factor in time. If the aggro deck can play 5 matches from beginning to end in the time that the control deck can maybe play 2 at most. Then the aggro wins out. So the aggro deck will get more rewards over time. Even through it wins less games.

So basically if you want to either climb the ranks or unlock rewards fast you will have to play an aggro deck.

I think the winner of a game that has gone on for a very long time in the form of rounds to complete the match should get more rewards than someone who just steamrolled the other guy in 4 or 5 rounds. Like for every round played you get more exp and rank progress for a win. Then balance it so if some aggro build wins 5 matches by the time the control build can win 2 they both will still earned around the same reward. It's just a question of if you want your rewards given in small but quick doses or large chunks that you really have to work for.

  • Finished climb to legent with Odemian's bomb warrior, have a look

    Quote From Bersak

Wow that’s interesting to say the least!

How does it play against DH and Hunters though?

I got to D4 with Highlander mage. From there on it was a one way route to legend with Egg Warrior. (10 wins in a row at the end)

Gotta say that i faced allmost no rogues though! But risky skipper destroys any kind of agressive deck when played correctl

damn no rogues? you are a lucky one. i have a particular knack to lose against rogues unless im playing super aggro which isnt the case and it wasnt the case before even with DH. its not full on  board wide aggro so I lose to rogue. cant handle the infinite shananigans and secrets

That being said I liked the bioshock reference for nautilus.

The card itself seems fine enough, but in the future, you should post your card in the Discussion Topic first so you get feedback on your card before you submit it.
