• New Plans for Wild Format! What Could They Be?

I'd love to see Wild format frequently balanced, in addition to a new format like you mentioned in #3. And yea, I've looked at Martian's post way before you linked and glad you mentioned other cards I forgot to state. Best offenders, in my opinion, are Floop+Twig and refresh seems far more balanced than my suggestion. Yet, there should be a limit, at most 10 tbh for Floop.

Those are problematic cards indeed. And yes, I hate Big Priest with passion for years now, I would like it to be tweaked, and also introducing graveyard is additional solution to this.

But there are more, possibly more problematic ones. More of them mentioned in MartianBuu twitter-chain (scroll down, 11 tweets in total).

https://twitter.com/MartianBuu/status/1624103409640169472

Grey Sage Parrot, Cataclysm, Spectral Pillager, Twig of the World Tree, Firemancer Flurgl - those are also some of the most problematic.

I'm not sure what they can decide to do. At this point, as MartianBuu tweets correctly mentioned - many OP synergies accumulated, which might not fall under "need to nerf that".

We are definitely reaching critical point in Wild, since 2021 and/or 2022 quite often (almost) every expansion see some broken things.

There are few options for Blizzard in my opinion.

1. They have to adjust their philosophy about Wild balancing - basically more active balancing (more than now, but not at the level of Standard).

2. Leave Wild as fully Wild (unnerf everything?) and at the same time introduce new Wild format, with active balancing, when needed.

New format - either rotating sets (Wild and/or Standard sets) or some kind of Limited format (?). In both cases it will be easier for them to balance (less cards / sets in the pool).

I admit, new Wild format is what I expect the most at the moment. It would also be a new opportunity to reward players with (or let us pay for) some Wild packs.

I like this, especially for my beloved Fire Plume's Heart. Sometimes you need a way to clear out all the small shit so the Sulfuras Hero Power doesn't whiff, and you're loaded to the brim with Taunt minions anyway. It has a lot of value-over-time, but the individual moments are small so it doesn't feel too overwhelming (I think). And if people play Target Dummy for the refresh...so what? They included an otherwise-bad card in their deck for a cheap trigger lol.

In my opinion, you're good to go.

Thanks for the feedback! I was worried that making it buff Taunts on Refresh might be a bit too highrolly with cheap Taunts and I wanted to keep the card as an anti-aggro control warrior card, so instead I changed the effect to this to deal with the issue of Enrage warrior:

My main concern now is with whether this is balanced or not, I reduced the Durability to 4 but it's still a lot of damage to pack into one card. The one thing that makes me think it might be balanced though is that on turn 3 it's a pretty weak boardclear, and then if you play a Taunt turn 4 it's a delayed Consecration, which still isn't great. Having another 2 charges after that or being able to set it up to unleash later makes it pretty powerful though so I don't know if the downsides offset that. What do you think? Should I reduce the durability further or is it balanced as-is?

Feedback:

Linkblade91: I think that your anti-Taunt Razuvius concept is the most interesting and unique of the designs, though I think it would be a little less highrolly if the text were changed to "This can only attack Taunt minions. Battlecry: Give an enemy minion Taunt," with the implication being that Death Knight would get an Anti-Taunt archetype with cards that support Razuvius by giving enemy minions Taunt and maybe other minions that benefit from Taunted enemies. If that seems too weak you could made Razuvius also Freeze the minion so it can't trade with something else and leave him stranded. I know you can only design 1 card but if you include the archetype in the description I think people would still factor that into their assessment of the card.

...

Refresh is not meant to be its own Keyword but Hearthcards bolds it so I can't change that.

Thanks for the feedback; I like the idea of giving an enemy Taunt so he can target it. Will see about changing him :)

As for your card, you can remove the bold by including some formatting inside the word, like "Refresh" and it will stop doing that. That said, refreshing a location seems interesting, and I love Taunt Warrior, so I approve of the card. I wonder if you could combine your ideas, buffing Taunts with the refresh, or would that take up too much space on the card? The damage makes me think people will just abuse it with Enrage, which is not ideal.

Some very interesting points have been raised.
There’s a common misconception that wild is just a graveyard for old cards, decks and metas to be immortalised in history in their current state. As a result, people have an impression that these cards cannot be adjusted or balanced as it might ‘spoil’ the preservation of what they were in standard. Classic format has proved that this limits the amount of enjoyment that can be had.

Wild needs to be viewed not as a fixed hall of fame but instead a live meta, like standard is. Just as every new expansion printed joins the standard card pool, it also enters the wild card pool and thus, the cards in wild need to be adjusted to reflect the changes. It is inevitable that new cards with create toxic relationships with some of the existing cards.

Based upon what the wild community has been asking for, and as a strictly wild player myself, there are no issues with making card adjustments for the sake of the health of the format. People do not want to lose the playability and nostalgia of their greater collection due to a select few unruly decks that abuse combinations or mechanics that were never contemplated due to cards being printed years apart or not designed together.

Yes wild is wild, yada yada yada, but wild doesn’t mean unplayable, unenjoyable, or unbalanced, it means that it has a vast arrangement of combinations, collections and play styles outside of the limited standard mode

Wailor: Your design seems a bit too weak as is, maybe give it Stealth on the card itself?

Anchorm4n: I agree with the others that Heigan seems a bit too powerful, maybe make it a battlecry where on the next turn the opponent takes damage for playing cards/spending mana? Would make him similar to Loatheb from OG Naxxramas

DolphinSlayer: I like the DK Saphiron best, though I would add "Battlecry: Freeze an enemy" to it to make it more self-sufficient if there weren't card text space issues with that. You could probably remove the corpse spending condition to do add that.

Demonxz95: I initially thought Grobulus would be broken, but after thinking about it for a bit it's actually quite balanced and leads to cool gameplay decisions.

Also, I was thinking about my design more and came up with another idea that I think is cooler:

Refresh is not meant to be its own Keyword but Hearthcards bolds it so I can't change that. We haven't seen refreshing locations yet but it seems like an obvious mechanic since refreshing hero powers already exists. I think that this card manages to be balanced because it's a low amount of damage on Turn 3, requires you to be playing lots of Taunt minions, and is most often only really going to activate once per turn. Plus I like Taunt warrior so I want it to be good. It's also weak to opposing Taunts.

Your two cents suck, no one enjoys Wild.

Contrary to what you think, there are many people (including me) who play (and enjoy) wild.

So for us people who play wild I think we deserve some love, even though wild is an "anything goes" mode, that doesn't mean there aren't some strategies that are destroying the mode, since they don't let that all kinds of decks thrive, that should be the attraction of playing wild, being able to use all your cards and play with what you like best.

• Favourite Meal

My dish of choice is simply called "Phil's Soup", named after my mom's boyfriend. It's got chunky potatoes, cheese, bacon, garlic & onion; it's more of a chowder, but damn is it delicious. Pair it with a Caesar salad and some bread to mop it up...yum.

I'm not on speaking terms with my mom at the moment, so I only get to have the soup when my sister makes it for me for my birthday. Gonna have it tonight, in fact 🙂

Beyond that, you can't go wrong with a juicy steak!

• Blizzard Commits to Fixing Problems With Hearthstone's Wild Format

Fully agree.

If they lift all bans and un-nerf everything, I can see people thinking "Perfect! Now I can play everything!"...

Whereas in reality, consistent 1-4 turn OTKs or broken combos (impossible to come-back from) - cause inability to play those old, nostalgic decks.

Does anyone, wanting to play nostalgic decks, would be happy with 5-20 % winrate? I highly doubt.

You would have to count on the luck in Matchmaking, so you can face similar-minded player, like you, without a broken-unfair deck.

So I can see Blizzard making Wild a fully Wild mode with 0 balance, because that requires not much effort. BUT, I really hope, if they do so - that they introduce some other Wild format, with proper balancing. Like some kind of Limited mode, or just rotating sets mode.

• Blizzard Commits to Fixing Problems With Hearthstone's Wild Format

Any deck that has infinite turns (even 2 turns in a row feels like a lot in a Wild format) - should not be allowed in reasonably-healthy meta. Like never-ever.

I can see such things available in Tavern Brawls, sure. Because that's where the craziest and most broken things happen :)

• Favourite Meal

Today I found this forum and feel like I really need to talk about my two pasions

"Pasta" and "Milanesa Napolitana con Papas Fritas"

Pasta is really well known and I hthink some spaghettis with mushroom stew and cheese is just amazing.

On the other hand we have the Milanesa. It is something really popular where I used to live. You can find its recipe here

https://www.lanacion.com.ar/recetas/platos-de-comida-principal/milanesitas-tentadoras-napolitanas-nid12042014/

It is in spanish, but can be translated with help of google.

I feel this is just amazing and evven looks really tempting. You can also fry some eggs and put them on the milanesa or the french fries and just be amazed.Milanesa con papasfritas

Probably this is not really healthy, but damn it is good.

I know. A change in this would attract more people into the game. One of the issues the game has is keeping up with all the releases. Not gonna bother spending since you lose the cards after a bit and since all the good legendaries require a lot of packs to find.

• Blizzard Commits to Fixing Problems With Hearthstone's Wild Format

I don't think what you said is wrong. If you are a player who wants to hit the leaderboard, you don't want to meet the control card group every day and fall into the cycle of up and down.If you really like to play your entertainment deck, you can go to the bottom of the wild legend or the leisure mode. I don't think there is anything to change. Not everyone has time to go up and down. We are not big anchors. We also need to learn to make money. If we just enter the legend, it will take half a month. I really think playing this game is more tiring than going to work.

• Blizzard Commits to Fixing Problems With Hearthstone's Wild Format

I think if Classic performed better they might.  I’m not positive, but I think the initial engagement was high, then took a very sharp drop very quickly.  They likely won’t invest much time in Classic just to see it have players abandon it after a month or so again.

Last time I tried playing Classic it took me over 2 min to find a match.

Many people, myself included, really enjoy Wild.  But it is reaching a state where there are so many really powerful, synergistic cards that only a few decks are dominating the scene.  And the options for climbing are either hyper aggro or busted mana cheating combos.  The idea of a third format being “like Wild but with bans” or a rotating format that includes old sets is not a new concept either.  I think a lot of Wild players have been asking for it over the years, and as Wild has evolved to its current state that sentiment has gained steam

Free is referring to the rarity of the card, not the price. All uncollectible cards, including heroes, have the Free rarity internally.
