After hitting legend with highlander priest I gotta say that deck is a powerhouse. Early game removal is strong against DH and rogues, as long as you're lucky enough to draw your holy smite, penance, or breath. I had a pretty good winrate against galakrond warlock, too, but that matchup really depends on you drawing soul mirror at the right time. To anyone who doesn't want to play res priest, I think highlander is a lot more fun, too.
In my personal experience, I’ve found it to be any deck that beats theirs earns me a request and subsequent insult. I’ve taken to ignoring requests for a day, then adding them after.
Fall of a Big Druid, huh? I made it with Big Druid to Diamond 1 ***, then dropped straight to Diamond 4. Can confirm that it lost its breath quite fast.
isnt the token variant essentially the same as spell druid? Token plays Force of Nature + The Forest's Aid instead of Moonfire but they both have the mountseller and kael'thas combo.
Perhaps the OP would have been better served explaining why he thinks the Paladin HP needs to be changed - "filling out the curve," "nerfing Baku/Genn," and "supporting hand-buff synergies" are consequences of his proposal, not reasons for a redesign . . .
It's worth remembering that basic HPs aren't really meant to be "good" - they are designed to be pretty inefficient so that game-play focuses on playing cards, rather than simply hitting the button every turn. I suspect the OP thinks that the core evergreens for Paladin are weak, and the class needs a redesign like Priest - but if that's true, why bother screwing around with the HP, instead of focusing on the actual problem?
Haven't climbed much since hitting Diamond 5. Got an almost 5 month old at home now so my free time doesn't allow for much ladder grinding. Last night I probably quit at least 4 games or more in the early turns because he was very restless and kept waking up and crying through the night. I'll get that free legendary some day... [Hearthstone Card (Natalie Saline) Not Found] is the only Classic Legendary I don't currently have. I'm sure I'll have her by the time I get around to hitting legend. Maybe the Leeroy replacement or some other new Classic Legendary post another HoF rotation will be available when I do.
One funny story: A few weeks ago I hit the Jaraxxus rank in the new system. Platinum 5? Anyway, I got my free Classic pack from that. I opened it and one card was glowing orange. It was either Natalie or... Lord Jaraxxus! I just thought, "Of course I would play for 6 years, never open Lord J, until of course they make a rank with his portrait and I hit that rank." :)
Overall, since hitting Diamond 5 I've been playing a variety of different stuff, trying it all out. Also been playing more Wild overall in the past year or so. Been having more fun there with weird decks and wacky combos. Don't feel as much pressure to climb in Wild as I do in Standard so maybe that's part of it.
With a couple of iterations, I went 48-23 (68%) with Priest overall in Diamond league. Finished on a 7-game win streak.
DH: 12-10
Druid: 2-3
Hunter: 6-1
Mage: 4-2
Paladin: 3-0
Priest: 3-0
Rogue: 5-2
Shaman: 2-1
Warlock: 11-4
In hindsight, I thought about the climb and tried Dragon and Highlander Hunter, and also Tempo DH, again at Diamond 5 with some success. I swapped back to Priest when they all stalled out. 11.9 min average game length - not for the impatient.
Hey Blizzard, good job on class identity so far and stuff you know?
The holy paladins are commanded by the fishy scum of the earth, seems about right.
Ooh, and don't forget about how the Necromancer class keeps re-summoning those shady squid people right?
And I'm glad to see that the theme of being a Hunter is kept consistent, with how they rely on technology and Dragons to win. Great job!
Lol well this is the same kinds of people that decided paladins from WoW were all about secrets, that the stealth gankers & stun-lockers known as rogues weren't known for secrets and traps, that shamans were known more for 4 mana 7/7s instead of the elementals and primal fury, and that priests nowadays are in fact not known for mind melting face with dark shadow magic (psh, like Shadowform is a thing).
Oh, and priests are the divine Eragon wrestlers reincarnated.
HS did really funny things with very very loosely interpreting class identity for WoW classes ;)
I have not once faced Spell Druid, at least not that variant, in the last week, and I climbed to legend. I didn't even know it was an archetype in Standard, much less a good one. I thought the Token variant was the best, since I used it to climb, but I guess not. That's what I like about these meta reports, I'm always learning something new! Egg Warrior seems awesome, I'm gonna have to try it out!
Like you I've been playing against more Priest and Warlock and less DH lately. As such I've cut both Lighning Bolts and Squallhunters in favor of 2x Dread Corsair, 1x Mutate, 1x Mogu Fleshshaper. You lose the potential burst finisher but gain more consistency I think.
Solid removal, but extremely boring design. Prophet Velen was used for all sorts of unhealthy OTK combos, but he was also more flexible. He could be used for improved healing or to increase the damage of your AoE spells. But this card has no potential synergies or other applications. It's just a "kill one thing and that's it" card. She is as flexible as an iron bar. Good, but uninteresting.
Nice effort and here's an upvote from me but you actually forgot the best one: Cho'Gall! The infamous two-headed ogre would make one of the best alt heroes for the warlock class. Don't ya think? If that's really the case, expect some hilarious quotes. :)
Oh dude, I really like this idea! A two-headed ogre makes perfect sense, and it's exactly the kind of joke that Blizzard would throw out there with the siblings hint. They know that everyone's going to speculate and analyze all the lore, and then it turns out to be an ogre. Jebaited!
Alright so hear me out, lads and lasses, in Darkmoon, if you ride the carousel you get a buff called "Whee" and the third expac picture looks exactly like Darkmoon. And if you recall in Dalaran heist there was a carousel boss that rotated the board. So I think something of this similar type might come to light I.E giving your opponent suicidal minions or stealing their junk. But that's just a theory, a Hearthstone theory!
From looking at all the comments, it does seem like my idea would be far too powerful. Would 2 Mana “add 2 silver hand recruits to your hand” be better? It might make the Hero Power less flexible.
Hearthstone hero powers are specifically designed to be inefficient compared to playing cards. We've seen what happens when they are no longer that, and I think the Baku/Genn era is one of the most boring metas I've encountered in a while. Your suggestion is alright, but I think its too weak. 2 mana do nothing is hardly something anyone will be wanting to do.
Though I dont like the dhunter hero power design, I have to admit I'm at loss as to how to replace it so it doesnt suck or become overpowered. Goes to show how hard it is to design new classes and not make its hp nearly identical to the current classes available.
The paladin hp is well designed to be honest. So you're up for a difficult task trying to redesign it without making paladin completely op or unplayable.
Too random for my taste. Miss out on your ramp, and you're in for a bad day. Also, if Strength in Numbers dont get you your big taunts, you're also in for a bad day.
For one such as me who hates aggro and smorc and likes long control games, challenging OTK or off the wall memes, this is probably the lowest point in years. Just nothing BUT DH, hunters and rogue. Rez Priest is less exciting when you can't throw in Hakkar the Soulflayer to spice troll things up with highlanders and mirror matches and add risk and pressure to the late game.
The brief time I played Demon Hunter (opening days quest requirement) I felt that the deck was overcompensating. Dirty, all that.
Glad I didn't buy the expansion. Zetalot's meme deck (Dragon Egg Priest) was fun for a few days, but it finally fizzled this weekend.
I've noticed some Bomb Control warriors in Wild, but it's not enough to tempt me to craft old school Dr. Boom and that class legendary that puts a 10-damage bomb in a deck, not to mention that it's probably useless against Quest Mage (still the rage, still be the rage after upcoming nerfs) and Big Rez Priest 4.0 (who seems to shrug off attempts to junk up the rez pool where previous would concede, and RNG sides with those priests, no matter how many sheep or 1-mana minions you place in their lineup).
Oh, and congrats on King Mukla; he was the last classic legendary I needed too and I received him just before the new ladder hit. So motivation to reach legendary went out the window for me there (even though I had a feeling how bad the ladder would be this month).
Way too many Quest Mages to make it work in Diamond/Legend

Archimonde, Kil’jaeden and Velen!
certainly among the most influential in all the lore

Paladin's woes have nothing to do with the HP. In fact, I would argue Paladin's hero power is one of the most powerful in the game.

Just a note and trick you CAN rearrange the order of your decks, you need to change them to wild.. then go back to the list
then change them back to standard again.
Doing this moves the deck to the bottom of your list.
