  • Ashes of Outland Launch Survival Guide - Everything You Need To Know & Day 1 Decks to Play

Well, as usual, I spend sleepless days thinking up the best decks to play on day 1, and then proceeded to completely miss out on all the cards I needed.

    A young Doctor Boom

No expansion mark because I was thinking for Taverns of Time (or possibly a card you’d encounter in Galakrond’s Awakening).  The card represents a young Doctor Boom, back when he used to just carry around a lot of dynamite when he needed to explode things.

  • Best pack opening ever.

I only got 2 legendaries in 66 packs, which is kind of awful, but thanks to the dupe protection rule I at least have all rares and commons and I get to craft whatever I want.

Also the two legendaries were Metamorphosis and Kel'idan and I wanted those anyways, so it's not all bad.

I'm just assuming my next legendary is going to be Al'ar....

I think it's pretty much just because the camera is zoomed out so far I know that's the reason why Senna's has such huge legs. But on the other hand, this looks nothing like Quinn's splash over there so I guess sixmorevodka is just good at making art

So besides the Quest that gives 1, there are no free packs at the launch of this expansion? That's pretty dissapointing, as I went f2p this round, opening 6 packs and 0 legendaries -_-

Monthly rewards give packs of the latest expanions, but yeah, you'll have to wait 4 weeks for those :/

Well I must be getting lucky. I'm currently 3-1 against Demon Hunters with my Highlander Priest at the moment.

I too have been lucky beating DHs so far by throwing books and that one legendary murloc at them. But, yeah if they  have any early cards they pretty much win

I've yet to look into anything for Mac though I do have a MBP so it'll be something we will actually look into, unlike another site that never did. It is very likely that we'll end up with 2 separate applications.

This is definitely the right way to do this if you have a large collection already =D

I'm sorry stuff is manual right now, but I thought the addition of the button and plenty of filters should help everyone input less cards manually. Especially when you consider that commons and rares should be very easily collected for each set, now you only need to really worry about the epics and legendaries being input.

One thing I'd like to add in is the ability to only show cards that you haven't collected yet so there is less junk in the list when adding new cards. Also, sorting the cards in the same order they are in-game would be very beneficial.

Yeah, when I was opening my packs after around 30 I saw a duplicate common card and thought things were broken. Then I did the mental math and was like oh yeah, this really is that good. Then I started to see duplicate rares and still had quite a few packs to go.

I knew this was going to be good for the game, but until I actually cracked open packs and experienced it for myself, I didn't appreciate it as much as I did. Definitely no longer need to order both pre-orders to get a good chunk of your collection done which is awesome.

@Sinti - That Demon Hunter Hero Power will cost 1 mana, so Metamorphosis really is only 1 more mana than an Arcanite Reaper but doesn't have to worry about taunt.

Hm, i dont know why i thought it would be 2, i guess im just used to HP costing 2 :d That changes things a bit.

Ok, so i played one arena run as Demon Hunter, i know, super huge sample size, but no time to play more today! I went 10 wins,  played vs 11 other Demon Hunters, kinda awkward, but at least you get to know what to expect. FAST.

    Some findings:

    • Inner Demon - Very good finisher, as expected. You dont really want to use it as removal, if you are that desperate, you are probably going to lose anyway. Probably dont want more than 1 in a deck, 2 at absolutely most.
    • Satyr Overseer - Very good card, can snowball HARD. I think i didnt give the 1-cost Hero Power enough credit. If you can kill this, then you wont even realize how bad you can lose to this card, if it survives a turn or two. But maybe against other classes it wont be as problematic, against Demon Hunter, who feels every bit of a face damage, this can spiral fast. Especially good with Twin Slice.
    • Twin Slice - Exceptionally good to fuel all kinds of synergies or give your hero a bit extra attack to make the trade. I wouldnt go for more like 2 or 3 probably, but the card does REALLY well.
    • Nethrandamus - I had it in my deck, from 13 games, i played him like 5 times, mostly it was ok, once he saved my ass, but a lot of games it was just a dead card in my hand. So all in all, i think i was right about him being just average generally.
    • Hulking Overfiend - Absolute BEAST! Probably the best and one of very few good "board clears". Saved my ass in pretty much every game where i played him, traded for 3 or 4 cards each time too.
    • Illidari Felblade - performed about as well as expected, tho sometimes you really just have to make another play and then it can get stuck in your hand, but just trading it away is still ok.
    • Umberwing - Not quite Muster for Battle, missing 3rd token is noticable and not being able to push more as Pally too, but it is pretty close. It gets you on board, makes your opponent waste turns to clean up the tokens and gives you options. The weapon with your Hero Power or help from some other card like Twin Slice for example, can clear most of the early stuff put down.
    • Battlefiend - absolute nightmare to deal with, if you cant kill it next turn. It can easilly push 10 damage on you by turn 3 or 4 and if you are that screwed that you only now can deal with him, you are sooooooo dead. Face damage REALLY stacks on DH, since you want to attack into enemies as well.
    • Priestess of Fury - Absolute mad card. On one hand, it would be better, if it couldnt hit face, since it would help with clears, on other, it can push extra 6 face damage a turn, if this survives for more than one turn, oh boy.
    • Imprisoned Antaen - Another absolutely insane card. I had this played two times against me, both times the board was clear on both sides. I almost lost both games to this card singlehandedly, cause it was a nightmare to develop the board against it and if you go slow, the damage goes face. Yup. Pretty strong card. ANd killing a 10/6 on its own, after it washed 10 damage over your board, fun times.
    • Netherwalker - performed about as good as expected, just good value generator.
    • Immolation Aura - performed amazingly, i guess about as well as expected.

These are pretty much all the cards iv seen in those 11 DH vs DH matches. Like i said, small sample size, but interesting that i kept seeing these over and over and over and not once stuff like Chaos Nova or Ashtongue Battlelord. Actually iv seen i think ONE lifesteal card in entire run from all opponents. So like i said, face damage put on Demon Hunter is felt A LOT, pushing them early makes it really hard for them then utilize the Hero Power or some other cards that give attack.

    What was your experience guys?

  • Hearthstone is not prepared for Demon Hunter

Yeah... main reason I haven't played any standard yet. I like tempo decks and all but, much like early Galakrond shaman, current demon hunter seems a little overtuned.

If some decent counter decks show up I might give those a go. Until then I'll stick with wild where I actually met my first demon hunter just now. Guy was trying an OTK with double Galvanizer + Metamorphosis into double Clockwork Automaton + Garrison Commander for 2x 20 damage the next turn. Respect to that guy, shame I had Ice Block up and Reno Jackson in hand. Even with just these few released class cards the deck cycles like crazy already.

  • Best pack opening ever.

2 legendaries in 80 packs.  Unfortunately that's pretty normal, the best I've ever done is 3 legendaries out of my usual 80 packs at the beginning of an expansion.

I'm not able to copy decks in to HS currently.  Not sure if this is an issue with the game itself or the codes from OoC.  Or just me... (probably just me).

EDIT: I tried copying into HS Deck Tracker and it's saying the code copied from OoC is an invalid code.

"Clipboard contains no supported url or deck code."

Second EDIT: It might just be an issue with Demon Hunter deck codes.  Copied in Libram Pally just fine.  Highlander DH wasn't working.  Looking off the Launch Day Survival article.

Demon Hunter codes should work now. Sorry about that!

No worries!  I actually just went and made the Demon Crushers recipe instead of trying Firebat's highlander version.  No changes to recipe and I went 5-1 in the lower half of Diamond rank.  Safe to say people aren't expecting a control deck when they see Illidan!  And the aggro DH decks can't handle the big DH taunts.

Loss was to Dragon Hunter.  Saw zero new cards from them during the match.

  • Hearthstone is not prepared for Demon Hunter

I'm just kinda chilling with Plot Twist Warlock...turns out running lots of removal and healthgain is the only way to have a chance....also Sacrificial Pact is pretty damn op.

But yeha, we knew this was gonna happen, the class is blatantly overpowered and we'll probably see hotfixes within the two weeks (maybe even the first).

So far Skull of gul'dan is just absurd, Priestess of Fury is just a bit too cheap, Imprisoned Antean kind of busted, but I get the feeling it's because of all the other cards that you don't really suffer from the tempo penalty.

Also their 1-drop are just kind of retardedly strong. Who thougt Battlefiend was a good idea? It's like they learned nothing from the Gadgetzan Pirates.

Altruis also seems kind of nutty with the face damage...maybe they should scrap that part.

But yeah, no tempo deck beats this unless you get a perfect start and they don't. Was trying some Beast Hunter shenanigans and...oh boy, you think you're in a good spot and they just drop that Skull on 5 and next turn shit out like 20/20 worth of stats and I'm just like "what exactly am I supposed to do here"

Quest Druid doesn't really seem to work for similar reason. it's like you're playing against a better version of yourself that also wins the early game.

Honestly it's not even the reload and lategame bombs that bother me, it's the ridiculously consistent early game. You can't actuallly get to a spot where you can prepare to deal with their later turns, you just always play on the defensive and they never stop.

  • New Legends of Runeterra Champion and Cards Revealed for Demacia

OK the scout keyword seems fitting for what they do, they attack first to scout what's the enemy's plans, would say it's an aggressive strategy but you have to attack only with scout for it to work.

if those are all the scout units it seems balanced most of them have low stats the 2/2 for 3 which is an elite with barrier seems interesting in bannermen or elite decks.

  • RegisKillbin's Libram Paladin - Ashes of Outland Launch

2-0 so far, and I've pushed both of them to Fatigue lol. Enjoying the deck :D

  • Hearthstone is not prepared for Demon Hunter

It's just isn't the power level of the class is off the charts even the last expansion dragon hunter got 0 chance against midrange demon hunter it's too good dunno what blizzard was thinking when they put all those insane cards in one class...

I played it for a bit it feels unstoppable even when skipping turns for being greedy with outcast, I think we will see it nerfed this week it's really not ok to be that strong I tried some other decks as well they didn't compare to DH in the slightliest..

hit list? the 4/2 for 3 that summons 2/2s , the 10/6 dormant demon that destroys the board and is too insane, the 6/7 rag lady that CAN attack as well..

the [Hearthstone Card (skull of guldan) Not Found], rogue needs to invoke galakround 3 times AND pay 7 mana to get the same effect but DH? just have the card in the left or right of your hand lol.

I mean.. yes you can push the class but those cards are nowhere near fair to other classes.. looking forward to playing the other classes when DH gets nerfed until then.. getting to legend with midrange DH.

seeing people playing token DH or big DH or anything but midrange or highlander is just a mistake play the cards that are busted.

Edit: twin slice is OP AF

    he?

you can't do my girl dirty like that

(also you noone really cares about her, she's barely playable and comes from that weird era where Riot decided that they needed to go for more realistically proportioned females until they realized their main demographic is horny morons and realism doesn't sell)

  • Best pack opening ever.

opened 56 packs and got and got 4 legendary (Golden Lady Liadrin, Zixor Apex Predator, The Lurker Below and Maiev Shadowsong) 13 epics (4 golden), almost all rares and all commons, i am pretty happy with it :)

  • The new ladder system

    Well, I made it:

It took me 2 days to go from bottom Bronze to Diamond 5, then I goofed around with the Thief Reno Dragon deck until I decided to change it with my N'zoth variant 3 days ago and I used the latter deck to climb to Legend. So it took me 5 days of somewhat serious climbing (with long breaks, of course).

Well, I don't know what to say. On the one hand, I still stand on my standpoint, that our multiplier should be decreased by one number, so that the whole Diamond league can feel like a place for true competitive players (we will still keep the win-streak bonus prior to rank 5 Diamond though, I am not suggesting that we should remove that feature) and it wouldn't reward them needlessly for using weak decks. I mean, it feels really strange to gain extra stars from wins while playing a fun deck, while there are other people, who are puting a lot of effort to grind every single star in unconquered leagues and they use serious decks for that matter. But on the other hand, I must admit that reaching Legend in the new ranking system was way more relaxing (in a good way). I had some losing streaks from time to time due to bad card draw RNG, but I didn't feel stressed out, so I didn't lose motivation to continue onward. So that's the undeniable positive of the ladder's recent overhaul.

Personally I would have liked the new ladder way more if it were a bit too challenging. Maybe I am just kinda salty for gaining easy stars prior to Diamond 5, but seeing how many people actually like the new system, I guess the devs won't be encouraged to implement any changes any time soon.

    Btw, I have a question:

    https://outof.cards/hearthstone/1089-tomorrow-april-1-hearthstones-ranked-play-gets-an-overhaul-leagues-stars-and-rewards-explained

There is an easy way to figure out what your base multiplier for the next season is. Simply add up the number of ranked floors you hit and subtract 1 (it can't go below 1). You may also gain additional multiplier based on your previous MMR. If you're Silver 5, you've hit 4 ranked floors which would give you a star multiplier of 3. Legend players will receive a star multiplier of 10, unless you are "high legend" which gives you a multiplier of 11. If you get close to a ranked floor, you should do your best to hit it to speed up your progression in the next season.

Does anyone have an idea what "high legend" would mean? Top 200? 100? 50?
