  • Duplicate protection and the dust refunds

    Quote From Alleria

    Sadly, there´s another catch:

Q: So hoarding packs before major nerfs will be a good dust strat if you have a good collection (Editor notes: This is a comment about the new duplicate rule).
A: There's a caveat here: once you receive a card, you'll have it marked for "collected" purposes. So if you disenchant a card you've received, it's still considered "owned." So you can't exploit the refund system that way. There's a great benefit to this though: If you don't like a particular card or class, you can disenchant them and not have to worry about getting them in future packs.

Q: And how long is the card will be marked "collected"? For example, I've opened an epic I don't want so I dust it right away. But if I already collected other epics I would like to have them all again.
A: Forever. Once you've collected a card, you've collected it.

    good to know.

Although how does this work with Golden cards? Do they count seperately? If I open, say, a golden epic and I DE it, is there just no chance that I would ever open a regular copy? If so that kinda makes disenchanting golden cards entirely pointless since there's no actual way to get them in regular form anymore.

  • Bilgewater&Shurima

I feel like Twisted Fate is a little mad he wasn't invited to the League card game, maybe he'll get a chance to twist his fate in the first LoR expansion?

    Bilgewater could add
    Twisted fate
    Graves
    Miss Fortune
    Gank Plank

    Shurima could add
    Sivir
    Azir
    Nasus
    Amumu

This could be called beaches expansion, or some pun on dry and wet, personally I'm hoping for Twisted fate and graves to be a confirmed couple in LoR, but maybe that's just me

Thanks Frosty, wow the Top 8 really looks great. I hope they somehow manage to showcase the matches today 🙏

  • new ranking

There were some Q&A on Reddit few days ago with Blizz staff  mentioning bonus stars:

Q: What are the star bonus breakpoints?
A: It's 1 more bonus star per rank: Legend = 10x stars per win, Diamond 5 = 9x, Diamond 10 = 8x ... Silver 5 = 3x, Silver 10 = 2x, Bronze 5/10 = 2x. You may additionally get a bigger Star Bonus if your MMR is higher than others at your rank (so high legend players could get 11x Star Bonus). This also helps players who reach legend in one month and only play enough to reach Bronze 5 the next month. They will get a Star Bonus closer to that of a Legend player.

Q: What about the transition of the current March season to the April season, where the ranked system changes?
A: There is a conversion from the old rank system to the new one. You will get a Star Bonus in April based on the best rank you achieved in March.

  • new ranking

I dont think there's yet any explanations on how the star bonuses are awarded. Either way, the new ranking system is likely next month and the rewards we get for this month will likely stick to the old system.

Just rank as high as you can.

What I would like to know are details on the sentence below ... how multipliers are awarded? for which level? tks

    QUOTE

... players will be awarded a Star Bonus based on their performance the previous season. This Star Bonus acts as a multiplier on the Stars you earn from each win.

For example, if you have a Star Bonus of 5x and you win a game, you’ll get five Stars instead of one.

  • Priest is Getting an Overhaul! An Analytical Dive into the New and Changed Cards

I think the changes are mostly good, but I'm sorry to see Power Word: Shield go. Priest has always struggled with card draw, making them even more dependent on Northshire Cleric is not great.

  • New Hunter Spell - Scavenger's Ingenuity

Maybe as a tutor for that Knuckles OTK deck?

  • Test DH

I think the rest of the cards are all dormant right now.

Sunday's games are still on and the Top 8 looks pretty strong. There should be some good games for you to watch.

  • Demons in LoR

    Quote From DoubleSummon

So you think they belong to the shadow isles? but they don't have any connection there anymore nothing in their operations or origins says "the ruined king" or the shadow isles they are just demons that roam the lands and kill humans for their essence.

No, I was sharing it because I think it was a great graphic, but unlike the author I'd say it would seem off to put Shaco, Fiddlesticks, etc in with Hecarim, Elise, Kalista, etc.   I believe he was working under the assumption that each region will get equivalent amounts of play with a rotating roster of champions, but that as there are ~20 champions affliated with Piltover and/or Zaun but only ~8 with Mt Targon.  What I'm kinda hoping is that they have the current 6 regions and the "main" factions and then append/rotate in smaller factions, applying artistic license and focusing more on what feels right rather than geographical lore.  For example: I could see them create a "peacekeeper" faction and join people like Caitlyn, Vi, Quinn, Kayle, etc.  And since they don't see as much play, its OK for them to have smaller rosters than the big 6.

Correct, assuming that you dusted your non-golden copy.

I love those priest changes, I really think i will play priest again after leaving him in Gadgetzan

    Didn't quite get this.

I have non-golden Leeroy, if I craft a Golden One, will I get 3200 back so I just get a Golden Leroy if I want to keep it?
That would mean that instead of gaining 1600 I would gain 400 right?

  • Priest is Getting an Overhaul! An Analytical Dive into the New and Changed Cards

Power Word: Tentacles saw no play and will see no play. Its an Old Gods card, it even have the tentacles. Since this card is obviously free (its a basic card) I dont see why anyone should complain given that power creeping in hearthstone has been a feature for some time now.

From a standpoint of what it does, its pretty amazing, and does well to serve this sort of tempo identity team5 is trying to impose on priest.

From a flavor standpoint, its pretty understandable why Power Word: Tentacles didnt just get buffed and moved to basic.

  • Introducing the Death Knight: A new Hearthstone class!

    Quote From Almaniarra

1-) They first said that UI is limiting them to add new play mode, then they've added Tavern Brawl with same UI.
2-) After that, They said that UI is limiting them to add more deckslots - then they've added +9 deckslots with same UI.
3-) After that, They said that UI is limiting them to add more new play modes, then they've added Battlegrounds with same UI.
4-) After that, They said that UI is limiting them to add more classes, Now They are adding Demon Hunter as a new class with same UI.
5-) It is still same UI and they've said at the reveal stream they will add a new game mode at middle year (Check Phase 2 of Year of the Phoenix)

You are aware that all of these involved UI changes, right? They even showed off a bunch of different iterations they went through when deciding how to add Demon Hunter to the class page. Not all UI changes are complete redesigns, but every minor tweak needs to go through testing both so it doesn't break anything and to decide that it is the best direction for them to take something.

The old UI limited them, so they updated it each time after going through no doubt numerous design ideas to settle on the least intrusive, most intuitive change. They're not out to lie to us for no reason, and to assume malice seems ridiculous to me.

On topic, I think this idea for a class is pretty interesting! I've certainly never seen anything quite like it before.

What I would love to hear from you is a description of how you want the class fantasy to come across. What mechanics are important to the class? What do you imagine the class to be good at, and what do you imagine them to be bad at? Right now I see a lot of mechanics I expect - Lifesteal, Freeze, your new keyword - but I don't know what I'm meant to be working towards if I was designing a deck for the class. Do I want to play Control, or are we trying to be Aggro?

Take Unusual Ascended and Infused Deathseeker, for instance. Novel ideas, certainly, but why are they Death Knight cards? Why do Death Knights care about the cost of cards in your hand? Why do they both have opposite conditions to fulfill?

You've mentioned that you aren't too concerned with balancing right now, so I won't nitpick that. I do think some of the designs seem like odd choices though. Banshee Queen Sylvanas, for example, is either a slightly overstatted minion that deals some damage to you - nothing particularly special, but not bad - or a 5 mana 9/8 Lifesteal with no drawback. And the only thing you have to do is kill three minions, something you'd want to be doing anyway.

The biggest concern right now is the Hero Power, in my opinion. The idea of a Hero Power that swaps randomly is fine historically - it's not really any more random than the Shaman Hero Power, which is my least favourite Hero Power but one that exists. What kills it for me is the fact that each Hero Power has a different cost. That's not fun for you or your opponent. Not only can you not predict what you'll be able to do next turn, you can't even plan your plays with your Hero Power in mind, because you don't know what it's going to cost. Unholy Presence would also need to be completely reworked, that effect can never work as a Basic Hero Power - I'd hesitate to have it exist in the game at all - but that's not the core issue of the design. The Hero Power should be three 2-Cost - or I suppose 1-Cost - options, and then it can swap between them randomly still.

  • Priest is Getting an Overhaul! An Analytical Dive into the New and Changed Cards

I don’t understand Power Infusion card. It’s LITERALLY the same card as Power Word: Tentacles but 1 mana cheaper. And it’s going to be a basic card while the latter card is from an expansion. What are they thinking?

Hey Flux! I know. I can't even make a basic event, less have an stablished tavern.

I live just across a B&B in a really small town, so I'm using their place to gather the only other friend that knows the game. It's a public/non public tavern, but thanks for the heads up.
