Hey, everyone! So, just wanted to get some feedback on what everyone else's thoughts are on this new patch. I'm going to put some here in writing that I'm more curious about than other cards, but I did put up an entire video on each card change on YouTube if ya' wanna check it out: Patch 0.9.2 Review
Anyways, here's what I think on some of these. Also, I mentioned being Diamond purely so people can understand where some of these thoughts are coming from competitively. Obviously a Gold player may not necessarily be worse than a Diamond player, but the decks they're going to see more frequently will be largely different on ladder, etc.
Kalista - What's everyone's thoughts here? I really don't see her seeing much more play, however I do think she opens the game up a bit for some more combo deck idea's (just a quick example is her re-summoning a Rekindler to get a Draven, etc.). However, I still don't think she'll end up being good until a large amount of new cards are released.
Black Spear - Also think this was uneeded? Like wtf? Now this card just seems like another Get Excited - not sure if that was Riot's intention with this nerf? This also retroactively hurts Kalista even more - not like she needed that!
Iceborn/Pack Mentality -I know these still aren't necessarily OP cards, but I do feel that when the right cards are released that these cards will be incredibly good for some sort of token deck. I do believe Pack Mentality got substantially better now that it can't be denied with targeting spells and even though Iceborn can NOW get denied with targeting spells, I do think it's better with a +2 reward instead of +1.
Mark of the Isles -Is it me, or was this card just a giant friggin' mistake in the entire game? This was easily, in my opinion, the most OP card until this nerf....
and then what exactly? There'S only one spell in Standard that summons minions and there's only 3 spells that deal direct damage. Everything else is freeze or removal so this 4-card combo only makes sense if there'S something to remove on the board...in which case, why don't you just put removal in your deck?
actually the problem with Raid the Sky Temple is the fact that it doesn't really fit into any particular deck and the Quest makes you start with one less card for very little payoff.
A nice card for cyclone mage. It basically acts like a third cyclone. If you have double Sorcerer's Apprentice out then you should be able to just play the majority of the spells you get without much trouble. I think this card is a lot more than just another panic button type card, it fuels your hand for a turn. It is one single card that can occupy you for a whole turn. But I think that if you don't have a way to utilize those spells such as Stargazer Luna or Flamewalker then I don't think you would really want to play this card.
Something else worth noting here is that if you can fire Evocation off with some way of making spells cheaper (Sorcerer's Apprentice and/or Kael'thas Sunstrider), this is a very easy way to complete Raid the Sky Temple. Right now that hero power is generally outclassed for archetypes that want to control the game and win via infinite resource generation, but a rotation could help tremendously with that.
This card is insane. Like, is this just auto include in everything?
It helps you dig for outs, dig for a better play, dig for whatever you need really. Mage spells are so versatile you're going to be able to find something to use most of the time, sometimes two or three spells. The smaller your hand size the more value you can get out of it because you have more options.
Reno mage definitely runs this. This is insane with cyclone mage if that still exists with the evocation rotating.
It seems like a really fun and cool card. It's going to be infuriating when they get a flamestrike for clear or fireball for lethal off it though.
Average cost for Mage spells (revealed so far) post-rotation is about 3.25. So with a Sorcerer's Apprentice and a Mana Cyclone, you could probably get a lot of value out of this card.
Better solarium if you think about it. One card quest mage? Maybe if you're lucky enough. I can see it in a super value mage deck, where you fill your deck with value and not worry about the mage quest and then at the end when your hand is empty you play this and get the quest reward. Seems interesting. Bad, but interesting
The card that this reminds me the most of is The Soularium, which draws three cards and discards them at end of turn.
You can get much more than three cards from Evocation, with the offset being that they are random Mage spells, instead of planned synergistic spells. But then again, you're basically drawing anywhere from one to ten random cards that you wouldn't have had access to before. And if you discard them--I mean, no harm, no foul, they weren't yours in the first place.
And with a well-timed Mana Cyclone and a Sorcerer's Apprentice or two, you can get a lot of permanent value out of this card. (Maybe even... a randomly generated Evocation?) Could be pretty good!
It doesn't lead into anything, it's not a buildaround, it's just a one time RNG bomb. We already have ways to get a hand full of random stuff we don't need more.
It's not even permanent so what'S the point? Use it when you need an answer but have none so you just pray to RNG?
Are you supposed to combo this with Kael'thas to hopefully get enough 1-cost spells for a double rotation?
This doesn'T help Cyclone MAge beyond "you didn't draw your combo pieces so here have some random shit to pass the time"
It doesn't have Control Mage either.
Look, I get that it's not a terrible card altogether, but I'm really tired of seeing Casino Mage being pushed every single expansion because they can't be bothered to actually come up with (or support) a new mechanic.
Remember Hero POwer Mage from Rastkhans? That wasn't even terrible but then they rotated Baku and didn't even bother to support the archetype further (until DoD with the laughably late Arcane Amplifier)
Remember Card draw Mage from Witchwood? That didn't get anything beyond the initial set
Remember Spellpower Mage from Boomsday? Same thing.
Is there really nothing else you can do with a spell based class other than attach the word "generate randomly" to every other card?

It's a bit like hunter's Tracking. Need to find a board clear / direct dmg / something else - use this card.
Very versatile card - which makes it really strong.
I'm guessing it will become staple mage card.

Completing the quest was never the issue.

Panic buttons like this usually see some degree of play. Wouldn't be surprised if this one does too.

A Hearthstone Hotfix is Going Out to Adjust Legend Rank Movement
It isn't something that can be fixed on the server-side and will require a client patch.
Good news though, they are working on it.
