I agree that the mode has been pretty badly handled. However, I've still had a lot of fun playing it. I have spent very little money on it, but through grinding, I have collected every single Merc and have only 4 that are not maxxed out (plus I have 71 packs waiting for the next batch). The coin exchange system is definitely weighted against us, but considering that you can generate coins for free, without limit, through daily play, it's not as bad as I expected it would be. The main thing I wish they'd add is a pity timer for legendaries (BASE mercs, NOT skins).
Each use of the location adds a new trigger. So first use will raise one corpse per turn. Second use two corpses. Two uses on both location four corpses per turn. Risen zombies are standard 2/2 zombies which leaves no corpse.
Sorry for bad edit but I had to add the Unholy runes as the software do not had them for locations.
And also to be fair to Patriot and Cerebro decks you should expect different things from them. When playing against a Patriot deck you should expect an Ultron coming at the final turn.
Fun fact - I had some success running Ultron without Patriot. Just Karzan and Blue Marvel was enough to make him work pretty well.
Dream curve is Patriot -> Karzan -> Blue Marvel -> Ultron. Even better if you can get Invisible Woman on 2 to hide almost everything else.
I was heavily invested in Mercenaries since the launch -- I did my daily missions every day, all the special events, and I carefully collected all the mercs. I loved that it was nice time-filler game with no PVP pressure; I work from home, and being able to pause a game if I got an urgent email or phone call was great!
However, the fact that there were so *many* missteps along the way was disconcerting, starting from the disastrous and uninformative initial presentation, to all the fumbling regarding progression and unbalanced content (remember when you would need to cancel a run because a Dopplegangster showed up in your path?).
The monetization model was also completely out of whack: 20 bucks for a bunch of useless coins? 25 bucks for a freaking portrait? The only time I spent real money was on the Prelaunch and Welcome bundle; the rest was paid with gold.
Their initial response to the Rattlegore incident was the final straw. It proved to me that Mercenaries is a failed experiment, and will never be considered a priority by Blizzard. I fully expect Mercenaries to go into maintenance mode within a year or two. All the time I dedicated to Mercenaries has now gone to Marvel Snap!, which does everything Mercenaries wants to do, but ten times better and with a team of developers that actually cares.
We are currently aware of the fact that Death Knight is not currently an option to choose for when submitting cards, and also that Path of Arthas and March of the Lich King can't be submitted as sets the card belongs to either.
We'll let you know when we've got that all situated.
Good to see the comps are back with some nice changes now, so I'll try to participate on the less busy and troublesome weeks. So, here's some old designs of mine I that fits here perfectly (And in case it's not clear, Construct Quarter is 3 Unholy, but Herthcards doesn't have a Rune layout for Locations yet, so I had recur to good old Paint. Tell me if it's interesting enough and I'll make a decent version in photoshop later).
@Demonxz95 - there's apparently something called a F.R.A.N.K list (friends, relatives, acquaintances, neighbours, kid contacts). At first it was an omage to Ferenc Liszt (in Polish), but then I discovered the list and thought it was cool. So yeah... he's on someone's F.R.A.N.K. list.
The competition seems to be running slowly (although I have methods of combating this season and you'll see one soon enough), so here's some early feedback.
Linkblade91
I think this card is really cool (get it? Because it's a Frost card). I am a bit afraid that a cheap of source of Spell Damage may end up getting a volatile reaction from some people, but I think this card is finely balanced as is. I say thumbs up.
Neoguli
I think the card in concept is fine, even though Death Knight 6, 8, or 10-Cost spells, so I'm not sure what would happen if you tried to play the card with that many Corpses. Additionally, its only 7-Cost spell is Frostwyrm's Fury and its only 9-Cost spell is The Scourge, and it's very unlikely for Death Knight to ever have a spell of every Cost from 0 to 10 in Standard rotation at any point. I would say making it Discover any Death Knight card could fix it, but then it becomes a fairly consistent way of generating extra copies of strong minions.
Also, I'm not sure what's up with that name, but you should change it.
Moondreamer
I like the effect, and I like the usage of the Duels character into Constructed Hearthstone. That's thinking smarter, not harder!
My only little gripe is that later down the line, and it may even be relatively soon, building an FFF deck that doesn't use weapons may not be that difficult (unless there happens to be a new weapon that they for some reason absolutely need to run) which would end up circumnavigating the downside entirely.
Anchorm4n
Good use of character, and good effect.
I personally prefer the minion version myself because I think it's a bit more original than applying to spells, and also because it seems stronger to me.
Dolphinslayer
The first thing I want to say is, welcome aboard! We're glad to have new faces around, and we know that it might be a bit intimidating for some people to get into, so please do not hesitate to ask me or Link or anyone else here any questions if you feel the need to. As for your card…
I'm someone who plays FFF Death Knight pretty regularly, I can definitely tell you that it doesn't need this amount of mass spell-generation. Generating enough spells for my deck is generally not a problem. Frost Strike and Lady Deathwhisper normally gives me enough extra reach or stalling just fine, so I feel like this probably won't see play. Hand size is sometimes also something that they have to keep in mind since they're holding a lot of combo spells and play a fair amount of draw, which will end up limiting this card's usability even more.
The card also should do something at baseline so it still does something even if you have no Corpses. I realize that having no Corpses at a point where you'd want to play the card is not exactly a likely scenario, but the card should still do something if that happens. It's just a part of Hearthstone's design philosophy.
First time posting one of these for the discussion.
I love Frost Rune decks that grind out value forever. I love casting 3+ copies of Frostwyrm's Fury in a game.
Edit: Second Attempt.
Feedback about not needing more card generation was very valid. This time, I figured I'd attempt to go down a direction with alleviating hand size issues. Generating huge boards isn't something that FFF death Knight is really known for, this may be outside its themes, but since it is still spell-related at heart hopefully its not crazy.
Nice to see them doing the right thing here. I play Mercenaries quite a bit, and completed this event way back when, but I'm glad they've fixed this mistake for those who need it.
Wow, what a nice surprise! Big thanks to Demon and linkblade for taking up the banner and organising these competitions! Also fingers crossed for Shadows and everything working out in the best possible way for him.
I've been longing for a high impact 3B card that capitalises on Corpses since I've started playing the new class so why not create one myself? Here are my first ideas:
The minion version is a neat solution for those games where you really want to play that Mutanus the Devourer / Patchwerk / Alexandros Mograine before your opponent does - if you are able to accumulate enough Corpses during the early game, that is.
The spell version mainly aims at The Sunwell shenanigans and toys with the characters Blood Elf origins.
Hello everyone! I'm happy to see that custom card competitions are back.
This is my initial design for this special competition:
The idea behind Sai Shadestorm is to allow a possible 3-Frost archetype to play a slower gameplan, more focused on generating value with Discover and copy effects. While this is certainly a strong effect, I think the downside of losing access to your weapons, an important asset of Death Knights, makes for an interesting tradeoff.
It also allows for some interesting deckbuilding choices. Do you automatically discard the idea of playing weapons? The card can come down on turn 5 at the earliest, so could you maybe play a few early game weapons until you get to that turn? Just something interesting to think about.
Having such a downside on the card text also allows "protection" from other Death Knight decks, such as something like 3-Blood, from finding ways to discover this card and abusing it, as they would have to suffer the major downside anyway.
Finally, I think it works very well thematically (A powerful Frost Death Knight encasing you in ice to protect you) and it's a nice progression/evolution of my Lord Marrogwar, the design I proposed for the Death Knight competition we had last season, back when we hadn't seen the class yet!
I've discovered that since I have problems with navigation, Mapquest Directions is my best bet. This company provides clear directions that may be trusted. Even though I've never been lost, I've known this individual for a while.

I'd love a clue here. I don't play Snap but am a big Marvel, so I've been solving these easily. No idea on this one.

Out of all the things that I thought would work for Week 4's Snap hint, it was not what it is.
Ah well, just three hints to go~
