"stupid Blizzard hate".. like there are not enough reasons to despite the Blizzard model, you are stating exactly what is wrong in hearthstone, you are playing the game cause you already invested a lot into it, also you don't get refunds for all that gets nerfed only the specific cards that got nerfed let's say you crafted Zentimo for galakround shaman before the second wave of nerfs, where is the refund? , zentimo also rotates in 2 months (3 when the deck got nerfed).
I don't see why would you want to spend money just because.. I also have some money put into HS, I bought preorders for 1 year, and It still feels bad to craft anything cause it might get nerfed and YOU WON'T GET YOUR DUST BACK.. if they nerf a common or a rare you don't get the dust for the epics and legendaries that are core to the deck.. that's why the refunding policy is BAD and also is the core problem of the economy.. if it had a mmore generous economy balance changes could happen more often and have a better meta.
Why is spending 600 bucks a year on a game legit? and what does it has to do with intellect? if anything it shows addiction and lack of foresight.. You can buy like 20 indie games in steam instead btw and 7 triple A games.. but no, let's buy some packs.. I made the same mistake as you when I was working and had money(now I am a student if you are wondering) but not anymore...
A bit surprised by the XP changes, especially with the removal of a cap on ranked/normal games. I thought one of the main goals of the game was to make sure there wasn't TOO big of a gap between those who played casually and professionally.
Riot one month ago: "Wins 31+ reward 0 XP. Get some sleep and come back tomorrow you maniac."
On the bright side, perhaps this change will attract more content creators that were initially avoiding the game since they felt their invested time wasn't being rewarded enough. I guess the mindset is that those that play the game a ton will unlock everything first anyways, so why not get them to that point faster. It's not like you can bank up XP in order to prepare for the next expansion either, so I think it's a nice compromise.
I'm disappointed in the reduction in Expedition XP though. I might be a bit bias since it's my preferred game mode, but I think a more elegant way to balance this was to implement the lower XP rewards only after you've paid for your 3 runs per week. I do like the new distribution of shards from 6-7 wins though. It was never fun to lose on game 7 to get such a reduction in shards.
I'll leave card balance discussion to the experts, but I think overall, good changes.
HUGE patch notes today; so I didn't even notice this little nugget until I was rereading for the 2nd time:
Additionally, we plan to approach balance with a seasonal mindset, adjusting our methods as the meta goes through different stages between sets of new cards. Once we’re out of beta and get into our regular cadence of releasing new sets, it should look something like this:
New set of cards released.
First balance patch: mostly “medium”-sized number changes based on our early sense of outliers.
Second balance patch: Significant updates to underutilized cards, and the main patch where you can expect any major champion updates.
Third balance patch: Limited number changes to stabilize any meta issues.
Next set of cards released.
Since they've previously announced that they want to do balance patches exactly every 4th Tuesday, I believe we can make some reasonable inferences:
New cards will be released in batches called "seasons", comparable to expansions in HS and MtG
Each season will last 16 weeks (i.e., every ~4 months or ~3 per year)
Additionally, if we look a few patch notes prior to when they announced ranked mode, we can see they put that in context of "Seasons" too, so we can also hypothesize:
Each Ranked Season will be exactly aligned with new card set releases. (Contrast with HS, where each season is a calendar month its completely asynchronous to when card sets are released.)
There will be some type of recognition / reward at the end of each 16 week period based on how high of tier you have on ladder. So far they only thing they have officially announced is a cosmetic (a "beta-exclusive icon"), but I'd be really surprised if this didn't also include some form of in-game resources.
Once the new season starts (i.e., when the next batch of new cards is released), there will be some type of ladder reset / loss of rank--again: I haven't seen any official announcements, but it makes sense that just because you hit Master once you wouldn't be guaranteed for life. You'll then have 16 weeks with the new base of cards to re-climb and earn your rank for that season.
And finally, if you REALLY want to go out on limb, you could look at how they've been describing this open beta as a "Beta Season" and wildly speculate:
The beta will have just 2 more rounds of balance patches, March 17th & April 14
Riot's unofficial / internal / soft-target for closing beta and formally launching Legends of Runeterra is Tuesday, May 12
The first expansion / new set of cards will release 16 weeks afterwards--i.e., Tuesday, September 1st
Obviously I've made a lot of assumptions in all of these points and even if I'm right that this is their unannounced plan of record its still subject to change (e.g., they find some critical bug they need to solve before releasing, or they get delayed releasing the mobile version to iTunes and decide its worth it to postpone just to have a consolidated launch, or they decide they want more overlap between their season schedule and HS's expansion schedule). Regardless, its got me very excited so I thought I'd share.
sad.. Hs is the best game and it be the best game for ever!
What a stupid claim... you are getting wayyyyy more rewards in LoR you don't need the refunds.. just craft something else.. which you can do when you have more resources..
I mean I play for a month and I have enough epic wild cards to get any epic I would like to play in hearthstone that just never happens.
In hs you are getting choked on rewards you get almost nothing, the refunds are not a good thing I prefer to have more resources in general than have more resources if I happen to have copies of nerfed cards that economy sucks.. hf with Blizzard.
your reply is stupid blizzard hate. Yes more resurces are better and selling mostly/only cosmetics are better too but a Real game that gets played as a main game every day needs something to bind the player Hs does that with money investment it catches me every time Back because i spent 5k+ LoR and other games spamm you full with rewards for doing nothing dont catches me... and not beiing able to buy everything is also not good for a player like me. only 3 Champion Wildcards per week lel if i want spent all my money let me ! and if i do that give me my dust back...
now i spent money and have a slightly weaker deck and get nothing back. The result out of that is: I Quit the game untili waste more.
In Hs you pay and you have it forever and if it gets nerfed you get Full Value back so you lost nothing and a normal Intellectual Player spends usually 130-250bucks per expansion and have everything from that and then never opens packs from that expansion. so if cards get nerfed you get back everything for the next expansion to spend less there.
f2p games dont catch it is not fun to get everything blown in your ass for free...
And the best is what happens if you have all regions on max lvl? you not even get a resource out of winning you only get exp... so nothing stores on the bank..
The dust refunds in my opinion are a bad thing for the game. I wish that Blizzard would remove the dust refunds entirely because then they might be more inclined to balance the game regularly. If you invest in a powerful deck I think it should just come with the risk that you know it could end up nerfed. If they removed the dust system we could get balance changes more consistently without Blizzard always worrying about giving us too much dust. I know that they shouldn't be that worried about it anyway but if I had to choose between regular balance changes and free dust I'd take the balance 100% of the time.
Yasuo requiring 5 stuns/recalls instead of 6: Maybe I've been unlucky so far but my opponents have generally had (too) little difficulties leveling up Yasuo so I personally didn't see this as necessary.
Jeweled Protector buffed to 4/4 from 3/3: I felt the stat/effect ratio was already fair so another one I can't understand. Not to mention that I see the card enabling the fun and interactive Elusive strategies (although probably not the most aggressive ones), which definitely didn't need further help.
For both these: I believe the intention is to make them both more rewarding so they see more play. Currently Yasou decks have a terrible winrate as they are very fragile / combo-reliant, so the idea is that if Yasou L2 comes online ~1 turn earlier his decks will be ~10% more competitive against the current meta (totally making those stats up). For Protector, the stat/effect would be overpowered if they applied immediate like Laurent Bladekeeper but since you still need to play the target from hand it's a huge tempo loss. All the value in the world doesn't mean squat if you can't keep your nexus above zero. Nobody plays him: straight elusive decks don't want to play faster, and control decks usually can't afford to play a turn 5 3/3 against aggro/tempo matchups. Bringing his stats up slightly is interesting; it's still an immediate tempo loss, but now he survives an attack from most early game units and you still have the big value from the effect so he might be worth the tradeoff.
Typo in your recap of Commander Ledros. Nexus *damage* was already rounded up (so to speak). It is being changed so that Nexus *health* is rounded up. This is a large and appreciated change because the card can't kill you from 1-health now. It will still be a perpetual threat, but it doesn't put you on quite as strict of a clock. And just generally this game often comes down to 1HP, and putting you at 2 or 3 health from 5 is a huge difference.
Hello fellow Hearthstoners and other curious, My list are getting some views and made it to the front page, so I guess there was a demand after all for such guide. It wasn't exactly the community experience and involvement that I was secretly hoping for, but definitely a convincing start. How knows, maybe the participation will be at the rendez-vous for the next adventure release, or maybe I'm too hasty to get it done and it is too soon just yet to call the experiment over with this G's awakening.
One thing that is for sure, after completing the Heroic adventure, is that the adventure was easier - and to some extend predictably easier to accomplish - than previous iterations. When things are put in their respective context, it makes it obvious that Naxx used to be hard given the available pool of card to complete the challenge, as for now - after countless overly powerful expansions, sets and synergies - the availability is off chart. Still, only Galakrond himself seemed to have been ''challenging'' as for the rest was mostly a walk in the park - a cool theme park with a fun story - but just a ride ... The difficulty level could have been increased a notch or two, so your card back actually means something and not just a participation medal ; as the french would put it ''À vaincre sans péril on triomphe sans gloire'' which roughly translates to ''A victory with no peril is a vain triumph with no glory''.
That was my two cents. Thank you for your attention
u get buffed and nerfed cards. the nerfed cards arent dead, its not HS. some may be hurt like the kinkou with reduced health but that card is already nuts lifesteal on elusive. no refunds cause they might even buff the nerfed cards in the future.
A perfect answer to rush is deathrattle/reborn. Or rush them back (but bigger).
That's what I said in the OP about gameplay being just turns of bashing creatures together until someone doesn't have an answer. The 'pre-hit' thing you would see people doing prior to rush existing, where you would damage an enemy minion to set up to kill it next turn, feels like a waste now if I can just play a highly statted rush minion and kill it instead and hit the opposing player with my minion on board - if it managed to survive.
It's funny to see people in this thread complain that Rush has removed minion trading from the game.
I'll just double down on things Flux and others have said - the problem with Rush (if there's a problem at all, and I don't necessarily think there is one) is the number of cards with Rush. The mechanic is fine.
But this is what happens at this stage in rotations. We have the maximum amount of cards in the card pool. Indeed, due to Galakrond's Awakening, this is the largest cardpool we've had since rotations began.
The problem (if there is one) will correct itself.
What if they print a large amount of rush minions in the upcoming expansion? Unseal the Vault is going to be around for another while and they're going to need to support that. Oasis Surger and Faceless Corruptor, some of the stronger rush cards, will also be around for just as long.
Its been 10 Battlegrounds in a row where my hero options are mediocre to mhe at best, while everyone else gets Rafaam or Tirion and tyrannizes the rounds ... Uhg .. I know this is how RNG works, but it sucks being on the short end of the stick that consistently... And I went playing BG because my ladder losing streak was already aggravating ; let me highroll, RNGesus, please ... ffs
I'm fairly certain Elusive decks are still going to be busted, but at the very least now you don't get completely screwed over when they curve Inspiring Mentor into Greenglade Duo
They didn't want to kill the strategy but they nerfed 3 cards that are 3 copies in any elusive deck! Deny, Inspiring Mentor and Kinkou Lifeblade.
New players trying to get into the game have an absolutely hellish time trying to get decks that can be viable for ranked. I don't know how many packs ranks 50-25 award, but I suspect that they are nowhere near enough to build a standard-viable collection.
sad.. Hs is the best game and it be the best game for ever!

How To Train Year Dragon - Card Design Competition Discussion Thread
I made this card in like, 1 minute, so it's likely broken. I say, it's a proof of concept.
And I'm now noticing that "Battlecries" didn't bold by itself. Damn.
Unintentional announcement of season/expansion schedule?
dont you think the game will become stagnant if they take 3 months after launch to make a new expac? maybe a month after the launch but 3?
the players will be bored if they take all that time.

Btw, better than current packs are gold, so you can save for next expansion.
basically what you are suggesting:
why stop there? Why not a free packs daily for signup with 4 packs every seventh day straight?
what will the developer have from such changes?
