I don't think you'd need good allegiance cards to enable monotype - at the moment a lot of decks go to dual type more from a lack of viable cards than from preference. More cards in any given region will likely mean more support for a specific game plan (given regional identities - e.g. if a bunch of new Freljord cards come out, chances are some will have Frostbite on them).

More cards from any given region being viable in turn makes that region's Allegiance more consistent, as you say - but that's a much bigger deal than you're indicating. True consistency is the holy grail of card game decks, and cards which have a failure rate are often underplayed unless their success-case is extremely high (or their failure is non-impactful). That's particularly true in LoR, in my opinion, given the small health pools mean games can be ended faster when one side gets the advantage.

  • Random champion card removed from level 10+ Vaults

It was hard to tell during the closed beta because participants were given a bunch of freebies to be able to build decks for the purposes of testing. I had no issues building a bunch of different decks on a whim, but I'm pretty sure entirely for that reason.

That said, champion cards aren't as important as you'd think. Few decks, if any, ran at the max number of possible champions included. Unlike HS, where some decks can run to 10+ legendaries included, you're more likely to see 3 copies of (say) 2 champions, included specifically because both of them complement the same game plan, coupled with a deck that maximises that game plan.

So yeah, difficult to say really. Wait and see I guess?

Come to wild then. the variety is amazing.

This happens every single time the client is updated with new cards that can't be obtained. The only reason they wouldn't fix it is that it would take too much effort for something with so little impact.

edit: In a similar thread, a mod from Hearthpwn said:

"As established, it's expected behaviour for the cards to be available to discover but not to craft, etc.
This is in line with previous expansions / releases where similar events have occurred.

For that reason I've removed the "BUG" part from the thread title."

What fucking Ramp Druid are you talking about?

Even Rez Priest is like less than 10% of the ladder.

Everyone's playing Rogue now because it beats all of those decks (and most others)

There's a new druid deck revolving around witching hour and the new druid taunt.

So then what I'm hearing is that *I* should by Quest Res Priest too and stock up on Plague of Death, Mass Dispel, etc? Can do!

    /s

But for real though my take on "cancerous meta" is one where there are ONLY 1-2 viable decks that stomp everything - like pre-nerf Shamanstone, or the Halloween Deathrattle/N'zoth Priest. If the meta has 4-7 good competitive decks (Res Priest, Pirate Warrior, Taunt Druid, Galakrond Rogue, etc) then I think it's fine. But i'm also someone who fucks around in ranks 20-15 by design since I like to play "less optimized" decks and memey stuff, so take my opinion for what it's worth...

The card is actually a solid Aggro inclusion, although not really synergic.

    Embiggen might appreciate this tho.

Embiggen makes minions in deck cost more mana, so I doubt it works unless you're including wisps. And with lack of any aggro based draw in Druid i can't see wisps making the cut.

Exactly, but Instructor summons from deck.

This means you get stats bonus, with no downside.

I maybe ran into that one twice within the last two days, so it can't be popular enough to complain about.

It's official -- Team 5 no longer knows how to code or test the game. Like, at all.

The coding is fine.. the testing is atrociously bad, bugs are part of every program's life but so many leaving the testing grounds and getting shipped to prodution or shown to customers just shows how unprofessional they are..

Hire more testers! the pink text one seem to be gone.. but damn so many bugs going through is really bad for any company.

So much talk about win rates.

A deck can have a 0٪ win rate and be terrible to play against Grave Rune [Hearthstone Card (conniving infiltrator) Not Found] is straight up cancer to play against, an embiggened cant be targetted taunt Is less aids but still aids.

Shut up about tiers. Shut up about pirate warrior.

  • Galakrond C'Thun Double Cultist Warlock

Yes it is an awful deck, but every 6-7th game when it works, it is fun!

I will upload the Reno version too, that is better.

  • Standard is awful right now

Can't beat em join em....8-0 with Embiggen Druid..  Such a cheap easy deck.  This game has gone downhill ladder wise the past 6 sets.   BattleGrounds is an outstanding addition and the Solo's are better.  Ladder play sucks.

  • Standard is awful right now

I played a lot of ramp druid and rez priest, and they are tier 2 decks and certainly not meta-defining. And the meta atm is ok cause many different decks are actually viable.

Obviously, you don't need to be mono to use Allegiance, but it does add consistency.

My point was the converse -- that in order for mono to exist, you need good Allegiance cards.

Also, most cards tend to get better over time as more cards (and more synergies) are released, so I don't think the time bomb thing is limited to Allegiance.

  • unreleased are discoverable

oh boy I sure hope someone got fired for that blunder

  • Standard is awful right now

Anyone else feel this way?  The Ramp Druid/Res Priest is awful to play against.  A monkey could pilot those decks. How hard is it to throw Taunt minions out every turn that have reborn and regne health?  Its ridiculous....done with it.  Battlegrounds if I play at all.

  • I Need Your Help Designing My Next Custom Format

Hello everyone, as the title states I need your help.

I've recently been making custom modes and formats for Hearthstone in hopes of getting enough people behind an idea in order to convince Team 5 to bring something new to Hearthstone. At this point in time I have two previous works. I made an outline of a Tournament Mode that I think would suit the game, people had their criticisms but overall the reaction was positive. I also made a new format called Explorer, that shrinks the amount of legal cards in a Wild-like format as time goes on. Shaking up the meta on a monthly schedule does appeal to a lot of people. Of course, no idea of mine is perfect and there is an issue that myself and another reader talked about.

I need your help, and all you have to do is answer some questions. Now I do ask that you re-read all of the questions once you've written down your answers. You're not obligated to respond to this in anyway, I just need some help.

If you guys remember this article I wrote back in September, this will be an alteration of the Grandmaster Format from that post. Grandmaster is what I'm designing to essentially create a better competitive ladder. No grinding, no ranked floors, and no mindless repetition.

I recommend that you copy-paste all the questions in your reply and just erase the questions and fill it in with your answers, that'll make it much easier for me to follow. If you want to add any additional information on a question (just put it in parentheses).

    Player History

    - 1-1: Do you actively try to climb the ladder each month for competitive purposes?
    - 1-2: What is the highest Legend / Non-Legend rank you've achieved in Standard?
    - 1-3: What is the highest Legend / Non-Legend rank you've achieved in Wild?

    - 2-1: During what set / expansion did you begin playing Hearthstone?
    - 2-2: Have you ever taken a break so long that your collection was lacking cards that were needed in the meta at that time?

    - 3-1: Are you a Free-2-Play Player?
    - 3-2: If so, how often do expansions set you back when it comes to being competitive?

    - 4-1: Free type here if there's anything I didn't specifically ask that you feel is pertinent.

    Standard

    - 1-1: Are you happy / satisfied with the current ranking ladder system from rank 25-1?
    - 1-2: Do you feel like the ranks from 25-1, non-Legend ranks, help keep the Legend ranks from being diluted?
    - 1-3: Do you feel like the ranks from 25-1 are just irrelevant obstacles?

    - 2-1: Are you happy / satisfied with the current ranking system in the Legend ranks?
    - 2-2: Do you feel like the players in the Legend ranks earned their rank or deserve to be their rank?
    - 2-3: Do you feel like it's a rush at the beginning of each month to try to reach a Legend rank?
    - 2-4: Once players have achieved Legend rank, do you think they take the game seriously for the rest of the month?

    - 3-1: If you don't actively try to climb ladder in either format, why?
    - 3-2: What would convince you to actively climb it every day?

    - 4-1: Do you feel like the Standard Format suits the purposes of highly competitive players?
    - 4-2: Do you feel like reaching Legend ranks 1-16 is realistic goal, even with a full collection?
    - 4-3: Is there anything getting in the way of you reaching Legend Ranks 1-16?

    - 5-1: Have you attended official Blizzard tournament and/or qualifiers?
    - 5-2: How was the experience?
    - 5-3: How could it have been improved?
    - 5-4: Would you rather compete in official tournaments at home?

    - 6-1: Do you think Standard is fine the way it is?
    - 6-2: Why or why not.

-7-1: You may free type this one if you wish, what would make the Standard ladder a better experience overall?

    Grandmaster, a new competitive format.

    - 1-1: Would you play the Grandmaster Format if it had an entry fee?
    - 1-2: Would you pay an entry fee if the end of month rewards were higher?
    - 1-3: Would you pay an entry fee if, within this mode, it gave you access to all of the currently legal Standard cards?
    - 1-4: Do you think the Grandmaster Format, if it were free to enter, would significantly reduce the amount of players playing in the Standard Format?

    - 2-1: In your opinion, how much gold do you think the entry fee should be?
    - 2-2: In your opinion, in your local currency, how much do you think the entry fee should be?

    - 3-1: Would you be in favor of Blizzard selectively banning certain cards from the format?
    - 3-2: Why or why not?

    - 4-1: Do you think there should be the Grandmaster Format exclusive rewards?
    - 4-2: If so, what should / would they be?

    - 5-1: What would the Grandmaster Format have to do in order to differentiate itself as a format that is different from Standard?
    - 5-2: Would you want a different way to raise your rank that isn't a ladder system?

    - 6-1: Would you play in the Grandmaster Format if you got to attend official Blizzard events/tournaments for ranking among the highest of other players?

    - 7-1: Free type anything here pertaining to the Grandmaster Format that you would like to voice your opinion on.

Really? I could swear I saw people trying to do that and finding it doesn't work. Maybe there was another reason I'm not aware of, or maybe they just ran out of time or something.
