  • Legends of Runeterra - Beta Patch Card Buffs, Card Nerfs, Social Features, & More

This is exactly why cards in MtG and Hearthstone are worded differently. There are different requirements and mechanics in each game, and as a result, the wording needs to be changed to fit. In MtG, you have so much freedom on how you want to play the game through flash and instant speed cards, activating abilities on your opponent's turn, activating sagas using proliferate, etc. As a result, you need to know exactly when and how the card abilities work. In Hearthstone you don't have that freedom, and thus you just play the cards and the game takes care of the rest for you. In turn, Hearthstone doesn't need as much text to describe exactly when and how abilities trigger. One of my favourite examples is if Gral, the Shark was an MtG card, it would probably read like this: "When this enters the battlefield, search your library for a creature card, exile it and add +X/+X to Gral, the Shark where X is the attack and toughness of the creature. When Gral, the Shark dies, return the exiled creature into the battlefield under your control".

  • Out of Cards Changelog - 2020-01-23

    Staff Pro

A small update today pushing out improvements for Runeterra support and the final prep for Hearthstone Adventures (pages coming when we get a chance to write them).

    New Features

    • Runeterra card pages now display top decks.
    • Runeterra deck embeds now have voting options.
    • Member profiles now display Runeterra decks.
    • Added backend support for Runeterra achievements.
      • We're going to get these achievements out as soon as possible.
    • Hearthstone Adventure support
      • Dedicated pages for adventures! Each chapter and boss from an adventure can have a page.
      • Decks can be flagged as Adventure -> Boss Name
      • This is not all setup right now as we've been busy with Runeterra. Expect it real soon.

    Bug Fixes

    • Removed second advertisement on the homepage sidebar.

Still aiming to get a couple of big features out before the month is over, though it may be first week of February instead - this has been a busy two weeks with every game we're covering dropping content.

  • New Neutral Minion - Skydiving Instructor

The card is actually a solid Aggro inclusion, although not really synergic.

    Embiggen might appreciate this tho.

Embiggen makes minions in deck cost more mana, so I doubt it works unless you're including wisps. And with lack of any aggro based draw in Druid i can't see wisps making the cut.

Exactly, but Instructor summons from deck.

This means you get stats bonus, with no downside.

No, it means all your 1 cost minions are now 2 cost minions. so if you ebiggen once then to pull them you'd need cards that originally cost 0

  • unreleased are discoverable

The huge difference between the two is that your opponent knows in advance when the board clear is coming. They will have tools and ability to work around the Plot.

    Well I couln't find #id stuff at first so I think someone might have problems like me;

    If you couldn't find your #id and your friend's #id here it is;

As you can see here; The golden EUW text is my #ID, when you hover over your profile picture in friend panel, it will show this screen.

So my full id would be; TitanlarınYavası EUW

Feel free to add me btw. :)

Edit: I have changed my id into TitanlarınYavaşı LoR

  • Standard is awful right now

That's my issue though - it's so simplistic as to have no depth. A significant part of your winrate is literally coming from RNG before the game even starts, picking a hero. Then you've got 2-3 viable tribes to choose from, which means either you're going to wind up with a suboptimal board or be playing the same thing every game. No items, relatively limited synergies..

Tirion's release feels really beneficial for the game, really, because at least when you get him you'll be playing a pretty unique board. Though that's not going to happen all that often.

Good interview, as always! Tho if Plot were a thing, it would be a relatively hard to balance the effects properly, some of the showcased cards seem pretty strong, maybe too strong.

Compare for example Desecration to Hagatha's Scheme, you would roughtly wait 4 turns to clear much of anything, but then you are still doing just 5 damage and it costs you 5 mana.

What fucking Ramp Druid are you talking about?

Even Rez Priest is like less than 10% of the ladder.

Everyone's playing Rogue now because it beats all of those decks (and most others)

There's a new druid deck revolving around witching hour and the new druid taunt.

I maybe ran into that one twice within the last two days, so it can't be popular enough to complain about.

It's literally the 7th most-played list on HSReplay, your anecdotal evidence is worthless.

  • Any new decks/archtypes coming from new cards?

Haven't seen anything in wild ... yet.

Considering the new battlecry coin minion, I'm shocked none of the quest mages/rogues have used it.

  • Legends of Runeterra - Beta Patch Card Buffs, Card Nerfs, Social Features, & More

challenge also breaks elusive rule btw.

  • Any new decks/archtypes coming from new cards?

The deck in my signature was inspired by adding Animated Avalanche to the aggrieved elemental mage by Chump.

  • What is wrong with Service error?

    Staff Pro

It isn't that easy, unfortunately. They can definitely have a pretty good idea based on how many people they're planning on logging in right away based off previous data, but until the moment hits, they don't know how many people are really going to be on.

We've had similar issues with Out of Cards. I see how the site performs every day and where people are during higher periods of usage, but one time when people really spread out on the site, it caused us some issues that never even popped up on my radar.

But yeah, it is a good thing for them to have some temporary problems, as long as they don't become the only topic being talked about :D

  • Legends of Runeterra - Beta Patch Card Buffs, Card Nerfs, Social Features, & More

Good point. But now that makes it seem very inconsistent. Challenge cannot break the Elusive rule, but it can break the "Can't block" rule?

I have to say, I don't like that discrepancy.

  • What is wrong with Service error?

As with every online game ever launched since the beginning of time ...

But it's a little strange in this case since they knew on the 19th exactly how many people they'd be letting in today.

I'm sure they have a plan, though. Right?

In any case, it's always the best kind of problem to have -- an overabundance of interest in the game!

  • Getting Started with Legends of Runeterra - Riot's New Card Game

So some people are saying here that Shadow Isles might be the best region for starters. Do you mean starters of the game, or starters of card games overall? As HS since beta and legend player, does it really matter which region I open first? I'm really looking for the game and will start tomorrow. Haven't really studied the regions yet, so don't know which kind of builds are possible to do, but some kind of tempo or control deck could be my thing.

  • New Rogue Spell - Waxmancy

I like this one. Rogues have always problems to find a good play on t2 without the coin and usually end up hero powering, which is kinda awkward, if the opponent have >1 hp minion on his side of the board already. So, I can see this fit in some decks.

It's the other way around, because rogue has a hero power which is good early game (and mostly early game) it can afford to hero power on 2 with no significant drawback as such rogues generally don't run 2 drops and don't actually need them.. if you look at the rogue 2 cost cards it's generally some cards you don't want to play on 2 (sap/eviscerate/zephyrs).

So I don't think rogue is in need for 2 cost cards for curve purposes..

With the discover mechanic getting nerfed so hard it no longer a consistent mechanic when you want to play specific things like for example.. toggwaggle if the 400% chance to get class cards was still in effect this card would be insane.

I understand what you are saying, but I, personally, don't like just hero powering - I prefer to play something, progress towards my goal in the game (and "usually" hero powering doesn't get me there). I liked Inspire for example, I like Jan'Alai, Baku warrior and different Quest decks where you goal is to actually hero power. But hero powering just because you don't have anything to do - is a sign of weakness for me. Again, it's just my personal preference :).

The beauty of the rogue hero power is it gives you a weapon that sits around until you want to use it. Often there is nothing good to poke on turn 2, but maybe you're wishing you have an extra 1 damage on turn 4, and then again on turn 6. In that case you're happy you pressed the button on turn 2 and you don't have to mess up your curve on turns 4 and 6.

In any case, you expect to use the hero power at some point in almost every game with every class. Rogue just has the luxury of doing it preemptively on turn 2 rather than needing to do it reactively (unlike like mage or druid), and knowing it has a good chance of being useful eventually (unlike all classes other than warlock. It is no coincidence the rogue and warlock hero powers are usually considered the two strongest).

    ---------------------------

For the record I like the card too, and agree it makes a solid turn 2 play because it means you probably cheat out something 2 turns early later on which can easily make up for a slow turn 2. But I doubt people actually play it in competitive decks, partly because a hero power turn 2 isn't awkward at all in rogue.
