You know something weird? I am missing my basic cards.  Anyone else notice this problem after the iOS update?

    Oh no, not again.

Maybe restarting the app fixes it?

It might be hard-coded not to work with the Mastiffs, so there isn't an infinite loop.

But, in the absence of that, yes that is indeed pre-nerf Dreadsteed's effect.

It's awesome. I can't wait to try some dragon priest deck. Shadow visions v.2.0.

  • New Neutral Minion - Licensed Adventurer

    Pro

A must in any quest deck? I think yes.

  • New Rogue Minion - Shadow Sculptor

    Pro

I don't like it. I think it's pretty expensive and leaves a weak body on the field. I prefer to run the Gadgetzan Auctioneer or just with Togwaggle and Galakrond, if I want cheap draws.

Is it me not noticing something, or is it badly worded, or does Blessing of the Dog turn your minions into essentially pre-nerf Beast Dreadsteeds?

  • New Hunter Spell - Fresh Scent

    Pro

Quest hunter already has a lot of cheap beasts in his kit, so maybe it will be something. I have more faith in Beast hunter than a mech one, I wonder why...

  • Explorer, A Custom Hearthstone Format.

I like the idea. I had an idea that was meant to create a "deck builders" format as well.

A New Custom Game Mode - Market Melee

As you all know Hearthstone has 5 game modes which exist at this current time:

    1. Play Mode - (Constructed Decks - Collection Based - PVP - both Casual and Competitive - Wild and Standard Card Sets)
    2. Practice Mode - (Constructed Decks - Collection Based - PVE - Casual - Wild Card Set)
    3. Arena Mode - (Semi Random Decks - Draft Based - PVP - Competitive - Standard Card Set)
    4. Tavern Brawl Mode - (Varied Structures for all catagories except that it is always casual)
    5. Battlegrounds Mode - (completely different style of game using the cards we know and love)

These 5 Modes do cover a fairly wide array of options for Game play styles, however I have always thought that Hearthstone could use a game mode which really highlights a player's ability to build creative decks alongside the ability to pilot them.

In short, Market Melee is a month long alternative ladder with a mostly-limited format. It highlights deckbuilding, creativity and deep skill with traditionally undervalued cards.

    Format Basics:

    • Show Spoiler
      • Market Melee attempts to capture the fun experience of the recent Oktoberbrawl twitch event which allowed players to build a new account in a controlled limited way, while also tying in the challenge of deckbuilding with undervalued cards.
      • Players would pay an entry fee to begin a Market Madness "Run" (1000g) which lasts for a full season (perhaps there should be a few days turn over like with tavern brawl).
      • After beginning a run the player would be granted a 400 market gems, plus 10 gems for each day into the season which has passed (so not to punish late starts quite so hard).
      • Using the gems the player must construct competitive decks by acquiring cards to add to the basic set.
      • Gems will also be the rewards for winning games - with more rewards given during win streaks.
      • Matchmaking will be based on ladder position

     Deck Construction:

    • Show Spoiler
      • The deck construction involves two mechanics: Pack Opening and Card Auction
      • The player would need to balance their Gem Budget between purchasing and opening packs and purchasing/loaning cards through the auction.
      • Opening a pack would cost 10 gems.
      • Card Purchase/Auction values are determined by two factors - card rarity and card usage, with rarity determining base cost and demand modifier.
      • Legendaries would have a base purchase cost of 100 gems, Epics - 50, Rares - 25, and Common/Basics - 10. The demand modifier is determined by the number of that card set up to be auctioned in a given season and how often it has been purchased.
      • A card is only available for purchase if at least 1 player has put it up for Auction.
      • Gems can also be gained by putting obtained cards up for Auction; values earned are 80% of current purchase prices
      • The more "in-demand" a card is, the higher the demand modifier (aka you pay a premium), if a card is "low-demand" enough, the demand modifier will put the card on "Sale"
      • All Basic Cards are available for free

    Market Packs:

    • Show Spoiler
      • The "Market Packs" would be a special type of pack belonging to the "Shopkeeper" and would be game mode specific (the cards are not added to the players collection).
      • They would contain cards selected from all available cards for the Season (the set of cards available can change from Season to Season - ex} one season wild, one season standard, one season custom etc.)
      • The packs would contain 5 cards as usual

     Rewards:

    • Show Spoiler
      • Winning a game earns 1 gem, a win streak gives an addition gem for each win past 2 (3rd win gives 2 gems, 5th gives 4 gems etc.)
      • Rewards are given in Packs, gold and Dust at seasons end based on Ladder results
      • Unused/Earned Gems are converted directly to dust at a 1-to-1.
  • Hearthstone is Getting a New Mage Hero - Celeste!

Can we get more Skins for classes that have the least amount, please!

Also, would love to be able to get a promotional skin like Mecha-Jaraxxus, I don't mind buying it like you would do with Medivh or Sylvanas, buy just a way to get one. Maybe do a shop item that you can only buy once that let's you choose which hero you wanna get, such as Khadgar or M-J.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Wrong, but good reasoning!

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

    Giant Mastodon?

Still salty about it not being the "Year of the Mastodon."

So the double meaning is salt as a seasoning and as an emotion that we have all experienced I'm sure

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

No to both. Another hint: “flavorful detail” has a double meaning

  • New Neutral Minion - Licensed Adventurer

    Quote From Tumbleweedovski

Definitely in Wild Quest Mage! Already jammed it in a deck!

Funny how excited such an innocent little card can get you.

Good spot! This card has terrific synergy with Open the Waygates as it's a free quest trigger, not to mention the fact that it's a coin, which is insanely useful at getting clunkier random mage spells out of your hand. And a solid statline to boot on a turn where you're limited on options anyway.

Probably an auto 2-of in non-highlander OTK quest mage, both the giants and the Tony version.

I agree apple sucks. But I can't complain too much when my job provides me a free phone, with unlimited data. And I am (unfortunately) a smoker who plays a majority of my HS on my phone when having a smoke break. I did play through the adventure and some BG's last night on my PC (I am a real gamer with a real rig, I don't live by apple, apple hates freedom, and you will never see me on a MAC. In fact, I have some major upgrades coming in the mail tomorrow for my PC!!) I digress... my point... I agree with your "apple sucks" opinion, but people's situations aren't always as simple as that. I'm just happy to be able to spend my smoke breaks playing the game I (usually) love again!

  • New Warlock Minion - Fiendish Servant

    Stealth nerf to Galakrond :^)

I'M not sure I understand how it works. Does it buff a random minion with its attack or does it change a friendly minions attack to whatever it had at the time of death?

Used it in the solo adventure, it adds the attack.. If it would set the attack it would use the word "set" like subdue.

I think the word "add" or "gains" would have been less ambiguous than "gives", which to me intuitively replaces the existing attack value with the new one. I guess what's missing for me in the wording of this card is the '+' symbol. Any other buff in the game (that I can think of right now) is worded as "gives +x/+y", which makes it clear the stats are added to the existing ones rather than replacing them.

Seems okay. Not too good. Will be a great turn 2 in many quest decks.

  • New Neutral Minion - Hailbringer

    Pro

Yeah, those 1/1's aren't going to do anything in most cases. This should be good in arena, right?

  • New Priest Minion - Cleric of Scales

    Pro

Do we know for sure that it draws the card, and not a copy of it? Blizzard has used inconsistent wording before, particularly when the text box gets crowded. And honestly, I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes. A card still in your deck that you never draw is the same as a card that's not in your deck. Only matters in longer matchups where you draw your whole deck.

  • [Game] Card Treasure Hunt (The Resurrection Attempt)

A bit out-of-the-box, but Huge Toad?

A lot, if not all, of Matt Dixon's Hearthstone card art have little frogs hidden somewhere in the picture.
e.g. Tasty Flyfish or Ice Cream Peddler
Huge Toad could be the very frog that appears on these card, albeit younger.

  • New Rogue Minion - Skyvateer

    Pro

No thanks. I can't see this being worth running in any deck. Maybe if Rogue struggled with card draw ... so yeah, no thanks.

  • Reminder - Full Dust Refund For January Hearthstone Nerfs Going Away Soon

To be frank, I don't really care that much.

But I can understand the joy of having golden legendaries.

  • Reminder - Full Dust Refund For January Hearthstone Nerfs Going Away Soon

This type of post is invaluable for people that are not able to track when the dust rewards go away.  I cannot count the number of times that a nerf came through and I had full intention of dusting my cards, but I got lost in something that caused me to miss the last date.  Thank you for posting this.,

  • New Wall Druid [Galakrond's Awakening]

There isn't a single deck in standard that can kill you by turn 4. The most aggressive decks in the meta are Token Druid, Pirate Warrior, Tempo Rogue and Face Hunter.  In all of these matchups, Predatory Instincts greatly increases your win rate because none of these decks run silences so a Big Winged Guardian is game over. If you mulligan correctly, you should have some form of removal in your hand, ramp, and/or armor gain with Ferocious Howl so you can survive until you get 1 of your taunts on the board. In these more aggressive matchups it may be better to not keep or play Embiggen to allow you to get your taunts on the board even sooner.

I do agree, that Splintergraft might be a bit slow (Alexstrasza is probably a more realistic replacement) but he's a very off-meta card so any chance I get to throw him in a deck I have to at least try first :)
