Extremely powerful so long as the Invokes are there. Rogue can make great use of 0-cost card and great use of any extra mana they can squeeze out. This is huge, but again brings the caveat of absolutely NEEDING two Invokes to happen first, meaning this might not be a reliable turn 4 play.
Obviously intended as a build-around card. Needs a lot of support to shine and kind of slow since it has no Rush/Charge and no Taunt. Success will be very dependent on the type of meta that forms.
Resembles Vilespine Slayer. Vilespine often had to be played with a 1- or 2-cost minion to activate the combo effect, so even Flik’s increased base cost isn’t a huge hinderance. The destruction of extra copies is niche but potentially useful. Not the flashiest Legendary but definitely worth running simply for the upfront Assassinate-on-a-stick.
Solid card. The hero power providing Lackeys is actually super impactful whenever you Invoke and the ability to draw lots of cards has obvious synergy with Waxadred or really any combo you are looking to dig for since they will be set to 0-cost.
The changes are really, really good. Battleground is so much fun, the wild packs come back, Adventures with new cards. But, why is Blizzard doing this? Is Hearthstone on his last legs? And they try to resuscitate it?
0-cost cards should always be viewed with interest. Priest doesn’t have much in the way of cheap spell synergy at the moment though, at least in Standard. In Wild there’s Lyra the Sunshard and Dragon’s Soul to work with Whispers.
Perhaps the best Invoke card in the entire set. Drop it on turn 1, drop a second one whenever you can weave it into a turn. It has decent stats for what it is. Simple but important workhorse card that sets up midgame Invoke synergies.
Probably too slow to be useful directly. Might desire a cost reduction from Fate Weaver to be worthwhile. Also has some amusing late-game synergy with Time Rip.
The fact that this lacks taunt makes it potentially awkward. There will be turns you want to clear a board immediately and cannot because this AoE is attached to a deathrattle. Not to mention that you have to be holding a dragon ON THE TURN it dies which could prove to be a hinderance.
Curious Glimmerroot saw play, but it was never a staple or key card in any deck. Doubtful that this will fare any better. People always overvalue the “look in your opponent’s hand” mechanic too. People kept crowing about Chameleos and Lazul being OP and they turned out to be average to the point of uselessness.
The need to Invoke twice to get this Battlecry is probably the only thing holding it back from being astoundingly good. It might be hard to squeeze in two Invoke effects before Turn 4 when you want to play this on curve. Although to be fair even if you have to wait until the lategame this card is still great, providing an Emperor Thaurissan tick. And you can run two of them, opening up lots of lategame combos.
Probably too slow to be useful. Playing it on curve will likely only yield incremental value (i.e. a 3 mana 3/3 that pops out a 2 mana 2/3 as a deathrattle). Might find synergy with Grave Rune and/or Time Rip but that’s super late-game and might be too greedy to be reliable. The fact you can only target enemy minions also means you can’t copy friendly minions to develop your own board.
A very strong midgame-to-lategame AoE effect very similar to Shadowreaper Anduin’s battlecry. The hero power is probably too random to be relevant. There’s quite a few worthwhile Priest minions but you won’t be able to play them immediately alongside your Invoke cards. It’s a more defensive tool which suits Priest’s general playstyle very nicely but if the meta is too fast then such a reactive card might not be enough.
I’m assuming that similar to Tess Greymane, Murozond will not repeat battlecry effects of any minions it “plays”. So this card can maybe mirror a board state plus itself as an 8/8? Or repeat valuable card draw or AoE spells? Probably not as spectacular as it first appears, since it is very hard to leverage this.
New Rogue Minion - Necrium Apothecary
Extremely powerful, drawing cards while also doubling up on Deathrattles.
New Rogue Minion - Umbral Skulker
Extremely powerful so long as the Invokes are there. Rogue can make great use of 0-cost card and great use of any extra mana they can squeeze out. This is huge, but again brings the caveat of absolutely NEEDING two Invokes to happen first, meaning this might not be a reliable turn 4 play.
New Rogue Minion - Waxadred
Obviously intended as a build-around card. Needs a lot of support to shine and kind of slow since it has no Rush/Charge and no Taunt. Success will be very dependent on the type of meta that forms.
New Rogue Minion - Flik Skyshiv
Resembles Vilespine Slayer. Vilespine often had to be played with a 1- or 2-cost minion to activate the combo effect, so even Flik’s increased base cost isn’t a huge hinderance. The destruction of extra copies is niche but potentially useful. Not the flashiest Legendary but definitely worth running simply for the upfront Assassinate-on-a-stick.
New Rogue Hero - Galakrond, the Nightmare
Galakrond, the Nightmare
Solid card. The hero power providing Lackeys is actually super impactful whenever you Invoke and the ability to draw lots of cards has obvious synergy with Waxadred or really any combo you are looking to dig for since they will be set to 0-cost.
Galakrond rating: 1st best
New Neutral Minion - Dread Raven
While its definitely not a tier 1 card, i think its DECENT at least. Solid stats with beast tag and a little gimmick.
Hearthstone Update - December 5th Patch Notes (Battlegrounds Updates, New Cards in January, the Return of Tyrande and More!)
I am a bit confused...
The changes are really, really good. Battleground is so much fun, the wild packs come back, Adventures with new cards. But, why is Blizzard doing this? Is Hearthstone on his last legs? And they try to resuscitate it?
Corrupt Elementalist
very good invoke as you will probably need to put less inferior cards into your shaman galakrond deck. bad curve with dragons pack though
New Neutral Minion - Chromatic Egg
I think it would summon an extra copy and keep the egg like you said.
New Priest Spell - Whispers of EVIL
0-cost cards should always be viewed with interest. Priest doesn’t have much in the way of cheap spell synergy at the moment though, at least in Standard. In Wild there’s Lyra the Sunshard and Dragon’s Soul to work with Whispers.
New Priest Minion - Disciple of Galakrond
Perhaps the best Invoke card in the entire set. Drop it on turn 1, drop a second one whenever you can weave it into a turn. It has decent stats for what it is. Simple but important workhorse card that sets up midgame Invoke synergies.
New Priest Spell - Grave Rune
Probably too slow to be useful directly. Might desire a cost reduction from Fate Weaver to be worthwhile. Also has some amusing late-game synergy with Time Rip.
New Priest Spell - Breath of the Infinite
Solid AoE even without the condition since Priests often expect to fall behind on board. Not the flashiest card but a solid one.
Dragon's Pack
this is just good. would have loved if it kept the flavour of the original card with overload though. gala support cards are off the chains
New Priest Spell - Time Rip
Assassinate with an added bonus, no restrictions on Attack like the Shadow Word cards or on mana like Forbidden Words. Solid removal and Invoke card.
New Priest Minion - Chronobreaker
The fact that this lacks taunt makes it potentially awkward. There will be turns you want to clear a board immediately and cannot because this AoE is attached to a deathrattle. Not to mention that you have to be holding a dragon ON THE TURN it dies which could prove to be a hinderance.
New Neutral Minion - Tentacled Menace
Yea sadly there's no way this will be a viable card. That said, will be fun to play in highrolly decks
New Priest Minion - Envoy of Lazul
Curious Glimmerroot saw play, but it was never a staple or key card in any deck. Doubtful that this will fare any better. People always overvalue the “look in your opponent’s hand” mechanic too. People kept crowing about Chameleos and Lazul being OP and they turned out to be average to the point of uselessness.
New Priest Minion - Fate Weaver
The need to Invoke twice to get this Battlecry is probably the only thing holding it back from being astoundingly good. It might be hard to squeeze in two Invoke effects before Turn 4 when you want to play this on curve. Although to be fair even if you have to wait until the lategame this card is still great, providing an Emperor Thaurissan tick. And you can run two of them, opening up lots of lategame combos.
New Priest Minion - Mindflayer Kaahrj
Probably too slow to be useful. Playing it on curve will likely only yield incremental value (i.e. a 3 mana 3/3 that pops out a 2 mana 2/3 as a deathrattle). Might find synergy with Grave Rune and/or Time Rip but that’s super late-game and might be too greedy to be reliable. The fact you can only target enemy minions also means you can’t copy friendly minions to develop your own board.
New Priest Hero - Galakrond, the Unspeakable
A very strong midgame-to-lategame AoE effect very similar to Shadowreaper Anduin’s battlecry. The hero power is probably too random to be relevant. There’s quite a few worthwhile Priest minions but you won’t be able to play them immediately alongside your Invoke cards. It’s a more defensive tool which suits Priest’s general playstyle very nicely but if the meta is too fast then such a reactive card might not be enough.
Galakrond rating: 4th best
New Priest Minion - Murozond the Infinite
I’m assuming that similar to Tess Greymane, Murozond will not repeat battlecry effects of any minions it “plays”. So this card can maybe mirror a board state plus itself as an 8/8? Or repeat valuable card draw or AoE spells? Probably not as spectacular as it first appears, since it is very hard to leverage this.
New Neutral Minion - Kobold Stickyfinger
Fairly powerful, and kinda funny how it fits right into pirate warrior, the deck this card is meant to counter.
Galakrond, the Tempest
one of the better galakronds a it has immediate impact on the boardstate. looks fine to me
New Neutral Minion - Skyfin
Not sure why murloc + dragon is a thing, but it definitely looks sick. I'll probably try it out in wild along with all the menagerie cards.
