  • Card Nerf - Luna's Pocket Galaxy

Can we get an F in chat for Big Mage?

  • Rainbow!

This was the first cardback I earned.

Im chill with all of these. I don't play control warrior but im glad the card kept its identity. You almost never see it in wild so when it rotates out of standard. It wont haunt wild forever anyways.

  • Card Nerf - Dr. Boom, Mad Genius

This is definitely the most straightforward way to adjust the card, and it's a good change I guess, but I would have preferred some of the other options like adjusting the hero powers (I.e. Delivery Drone and/or Blast Shield), or only giving rush to mechs in hand and deck, or removing the mech tag from Omega Devastator. But on the whole I'm cool with the change.

  • Card Nerf - Dr. Boom, Mad Genius

Not only is this not a meaningfully powerful nerf, but it also ruins their beloved 7 flavor

Is the idea behind a nerf really that we should be removing an archetype from the ladder? I feel like the point should be to make those archetypes weaker, but still playable, not to completely invalidate the strategy.

I personally don't dust ANY cards until they are in Standard (well, unless they are almost impossibly bad, like 5-mana 0/5 - Desert Obelisk in current set).

    I don't know why you got -1, I buffed you to 0.

Dr Boom nerf is big guys. Missing a complete turn 9 is different than turn 7. Passing turn 9 doing nothing can let your opponent make huge plays. You could argue that sometimes the card is played at turn 10 and still great, but now you don't get to use the hero power or at least a 2 mana taunt. This will definetely cripple warriors game plan. I think the nerf was necessary and I'm glad they didn't overkill warrior with nerfing Brawl or something.

With mage both changes are correct. Making [Hearthstone Card (Luna’s Pocket Galaxy) Not Found] 6 mana would change the situation only slightly. I'm happy they nerfed it to the ground because cards like that should not even exist. Watching your opponent play 40 mana in one turn isn't funny. [Hearthstone Card (Conjurer’s Calling) Not Found] is not an overkill, playing it once in a turn shouldn't be that difficult.

Also rogue being nerfed from being the class that always being nerfed makes me sad.

  • Here's some art, make a card! [Legacy Game]

Works like Mayor Noggenfogger but only once for each player.

    A (good) worgen card

Barnes now costs 5 mana (Up from 4)

Hell, it's about time. Though I'm not confident, that the 1-cost increase would be enough.

Vargoth is infinitely better in the deck than Barnes will ever be. Barnes created highrolls, but Vargoth created intense value/sustain against control decks. Vargoth allows double Mass Res boards out of thin air (more so if they choose to shadow visions Mass Res for extra greed).

    Big Priest isn't going anywhere.

Thinking the same. I have played against a handful of Big Priests, which didn't include Barnes in their decks, in order to score better results from Shadow Essence, Mass Resurrection and Catrina Muerte

Blizzard only needed to look at the enthusiast forums for Hearthstone to see countless good ideas to adjust cards but no, let's go with the boring mana cost nerf.

Do they even do any work? Must he great to work for team 5.

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

This card was not even remotely problematic, and it was so important to the fabled Zoo Priest, which never quite materialized but could have next expansion. Why, Blizzard?

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

A mana nerf may be boring but you can't argue against the effectiveness. Besides, the issue with every one of these cards is that they came down too soon in the game. How do you solve that problem if not a mana nerf?

I'm guessing the logic is that Barnes on 5 means the next turn requires a choice between Eternal Servitude and Shadow Essence, delaying the one of those an additional turn too rather than having a devastating 4-5-6.

As with most nerfs to polarising decks (old quest rogue I'm looking at you), it won't make much difference to the match-ups that it has a crazy win rate against, but it might be enough to decrease the win rate sufficiently to also decrease the play rate.

I guess you are right, but if there is really a drop in the play-rate, I want to see it with my eyes. I have played against a handful of Big Priests, which didn't include Barnes in their decks, in order to score better results from Shadow Essence and Catrina Muerte. So I'm kinda sceptical how things will turn out to be after the balance patch. I really want to see various control decks popping up more often in wild.

And I'm not complaining about myself, I play greedy thief priest decks, which counter them hard. But I feel like normal control decks (such as Reno Mage, Warlock, Control Warrior, Shaman etc) can't see the light of day only because they can't deal with so many waves of big minions.

A more fundamental change than a mana increase may have been better, but I'm not sure how much that would really help if you are playing a slow deck anyway.

I'm very confident, that a bump to 6 mana would have mattered a lot. This would allow some slow decks to draw and play their late-game AoEs more easily.

Design new cards to shake up the meta.

Design cards better, if you want to shake up the meta.

Buff wisely if you want to shake up the meta.

Designing bad cards, buffing, and then reverting, that's kinda lame, when you have all the above options available.

  • Card Nerf - Barnes

    Quote From JagBone

Even the idea of an Actor token won't work cos it is still turn 4/3 big minion cos it is too early and too fast for the opponent to handle. Hence, the only logical way to nerf it is a 1 Mana increase to 5 Mana.

The idea of the actor (which would come out as a 1/1 with the effect of a minion in your deck, making it a 4 mana 4/5 effectively) was so Big Priest would not be able to resurrect their biggest minions because they highrolled Barnes while allowing the card to keep its original design. As a change, it would have been much more elegant than the one they ended up with. But Spell Hunter/Renounce Spell Warlock with BarnesY'Shaarj, Rage Unbound also needed the nerf as they were slaughtering wild as well, I guess.

Im impressed they decided to not hold on to 7-cost for Dr. Boom, which was part of its original flavor.

  • Card Nerf - Conjurer's Calling

This nerf should've been Mountain Giant. These two still curve into each other and so they will remain a problem. Mountain Giant to 15 would've been a better nerf to Conjurer's Calling than this.

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

For once I actually agree with you.

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

RIP 2 mana Extra Arms.  You will sorely be missed by my Even Priest, Egg Priest, Aggro Priest, and Miracle Priest.

IMO these nerfs are too early since Combo Priest has existed as a powerful deck for all of 2 weeks.  If they felt they need to do something about the deck, they should have Hall of Famed Divine Spirit since it has been a problem card in the past and limits design space.  Extra Arms caused 0 issues after its buff until SoU came out and it feels like the card is being wrongly blamed here.

  • Five Card Nerfs Coming Next Week Including Dr. Boom, Mad Genius & Barnes!

Hearthstone Team back at it with the braindead mana nerfs. There are so many ways to nerf a card, but no let's just increase the mana cost.

I mean, most of those cards deserved nerfs and since I don't play any of them I couldn't care less, but still, it's disappointing.

  • Card Nerf - Luna's Pocket Galaxy

From slow and unused to overly competitively abused reverted back to slow and possibly unused
    That was fun

  • Card Nerf - Extra Arms

If they wanted to hit Priest I feel like Northshire Cleric, Divine Spirit, or Inner Fire should have been hit instead but eh I'm pretty neutral on this change
