Why would you nerf the Druid quest? Deck isn’t that good. Neither is Shaman. You say you chose these nerfs because the quest rewards can’t be countered, but each of these decks are hard-countered by at least two other decks (even control warrior). At this point, I’d be surprised to see a Dr. Boom, Mad Genius nerf (something for which I clamored last expansion) because Quest Pally and Highlander Hunter have kept CW in check.
Would really like to craft Zephrys and Reno, but I'm pretty sure Mage is gonna get nerfed and I'm not sure whether Highlander Mage is worth playing without the two "I win" buttons called Conjurer's Calling and Pocket Galaxy
I'd also love to play some sort of Control/Taunt Warrior but I'M not gonna craft anything in that direction until the inevitable Warrior nerf.
Other than that I'm still waiting where the meta goes so I'm either getting Highlander Hunter stuff (Brann, Zephrys and Siamat) or Anka to play around with Deathrattle Rogue.
Also really hoping for someone to find a working Zoo Priest deck because I have no interest in just playing Divine Spirit cheese
Hoping to get my last lego soon, and maybe I'll get lucky and it'll be one I want so I can save the dust. I have over 8k dust, just want to make sure I put it where I REALLY want it.
There are a few epics I would like to have, but none that I absolutely MUST have at the moment. Like History Buff, for example. He could be a fun addition to a C'Thun deck as a way to either make your C'Thun buffing minions more playable, or to add extra buffs to the Old God himself if he's in your hand.
Other than those I've crafted everything I need/wanted during the first couple weeks. Zephrys the Great was of course crafted immediately after I opened all my packs and he wasn't in them. Especially since I opened Reno the Relicologist and at least one of every other mage card in the set. Finally cracked and crafted Luna's Pocket Galaxy to go in the deck.
I liked both modes but cannot deny I won more in the old mode. I am only a slightly good player, but a great drafter. I take it that I did better in the old system to mean the buckets minimized the impact of my drafting talents because they minimized the variability of card impact for each pick. This left drafting talent only exploitable in the overall build, lessening its impact, while overall deck strengths became much closer across the Arena meta, making play skill level more important.
That bucket system impact sounds great (and probably is for the most talented players), but everything is a trade-off and there are players like me who are not pro level players who WILL benefit from the fact that sometimes pro level players will get crap decks now, and in general, being a great drafter will carry some additional weight to shift win rates for that category of player a bit higher. This can level the field between players who are better in game mode and players who are better in draft mode.
Because pros need the rewards the least (with all their winning, sponsors, etc.), it feels potentially fairer to tier 2 and lower players to me, which comprise the bulk of players, I'd bet. I would expect it will mean complaints from most of the streamers, though (most of them are pretty good players, many of them pros), and that may cause them to revert back again since I expect more criticism in the streamer channels as a result.
While I disagree with the s*** show part of the comment (I enjoyed the older format's variability a little more, and statistically, as the developer said, multiples of the same card will actually be rarer in general than either the current or the old system now), I agree that the older, greater rewards were better in general.
The MAIN thing I HATE about the current rewards is that you often get some non-gold card you already have two to twenty of. IF they would make the rewards smart like pack openings, so that you ONLY get cards you dont have already, that would improve the Arena rewards experience quite a bit. If you have ALL of the current rarity, it should either go to gold for that rarity or up to the next rarity to check for gaps in your collection. If you have the whole set in non-gold, it should automatically level up to a gold card you dont have in the set, of at least the lowest rarity where you have a gap. Although completing gold sets would STILL be ridiculously hard, it would put completing at least some gold decks within grasp - a middle ground many collectors would enjoy.
This would make the cards actually useful to ALL players. Casual players and serious FTP players would get cards that fill collection gaps, PTP and FTP players with larger collections would enjoy the gaps filled for their collections, and even the customers who spend the most and try to collect gold cards would greatly improve their chances of filling in gold card gaps.
At this point Warrior and Mage are basically cheating.
One has so much removal that they don't even need a win condition against any deck that doesn't have near infinite value, the other one basically puts you into a "if I have this card at this point you lose and there's nothing you can do"#
I honestly can't wait for this garbage to be nerfed into the ground so we can go back to play the game normally, instead of every other deck having to come to terms with the fact that there are two classes that do everything they could ever hope to objectively better
This feels like it was a step away from a Zephrys fail, so I’m curious if anyone else has experienced this scenario.
Playing Highlander Mage. Opponent has 10 health. I have a Frostbolt in hand and Kalecgos on the board. After whittling down the board I have 7 mana left. There is a 2-health taunt minion in the way.
I play Frostbolt first on the taunt minion to use Kalecgos’s “free” cast. I run Kalecgos into face. With opponent now at 6 health, Zephrys correctly offers Fireball for lethal. (And weirdly Arcanite Reaper, in case I wanted to toy with him for another turn...?)
My concern at the time was whether or not Zephrys “knew” about Kalecgos’s effect. Without Kalecgos, I wouldn’t have had enough mana (just 5) to play both Frostbolt and Fireball in the same turn. Had I played Zephrys right away, would he have seen the potential lethal, or would he have offered me The Black Knight?
I actually like the card MORE because I had to do the work, but I can see why it would be subject to possible misunderstandings.
This is leftover from last year where the win a game with hunter or mage was at 40 gold.
I just don't get why blizzard decided to change them to be this way, and why they haven't fixed them yet.
Just take your extra 10g and move on. Would you rather they change it back to 40g so it "makes more sense"? Or make the quest requirements more time consuming to complete?
I have already crafted Bazaar Burglary, Brightwing (for the same deck) and Zephyr, Siamat, Brann for HL hunter. I think that's about it for this exp, but if some interesting deck comes up, will craft for that too.
Great article! For those who were playing back when these cards came out, it's fun to see how things have changed. Forget about all those crazy double/triple,etc Thaddius plays, just getting an 11/11 down was pretty strong. Compare that to what mages can do on turn 5 now!
Also, has anyone else noticed how often Feugen or Stalagg get offered to you in the tavern on a Dalaran Heist? WTF, they're TERRIBLE on their own.

Greedy AF Double-Quester (with story)
Dag yo, I just saw Griffior's version: https://outof.cards/hearthstone/decks/6599-double-quest-priest and he says Amara doesn't Activate the Obelisk. Right, because she doesn't "restore" health. Ok, might need to tweak this.

In no particular order because I'm undecided
King Phaoris
Reno the Relicologist
Those are the two from SoU that I probably should make. The rest of my wants are from other expansions
Tess Greymane
Frost Lich Jaina
Brightwing

Legendary-wise, I have two that I still really want, which are Corrupt the Waters because it's good and I want it for Wild , Dark Pharaoh Tekahn which I've been running on an alt account and having fun. For quests I still need Activate the Obelisk and Supreme Archaeology as well. For the Explorers I still need Elise the Enlightened and Dinotamer Brann.
There are a few epics I would like to have, but none that I absolutely MUST have at the moment. Like History Buff, for example. Shallow Gravedigger wut ?
You're more likely to see someone run the 2 brothers than this card.

Maybe you get the second one in another bucket? The future buckets usually offer specific synergies after you pick a path.

I dont think that he tracks effects of minions such as the one from Kalecgos.
But not sure.
