Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, for me (as the OP), I have not been able to get into the game to try it out, because life. I'll see what I think when I get a chance to try out the deck. I actually opened most of what I need in only 18 packs, amazingly enough, so I'll be trying it out for sure.
Got Reno the Relicologist from my first few packs, so decided to craft Zephrys the Great and make a Highlander Mage deck, which is actually a lot of fun. Coming from rank 20 to 17, I've faced some Quest Rogues and Quest Paladins so far, but managed to win most, as they seemed to have trouble finishing their quests. Tweaked my deck a bit to hope for better results, let's see what I'll encounter today.
The first days of an expansion are a lot of fun to me, especially low on the ladder, as there seem to be plenty of people who either don't have the cards/dust to make perfect netdecks, or simply prefer to experiment with their own creations. Usually, that fades pretty fast, so let's enjoy it whiile it's here!
I played around with this but couldnt get it to work. If you lose the board, you are done. So add Mass Hysteria? But then you lack draw. I added Questing Explorer, Acolyte of Pain, and even Witchwood Piper. The pipers were for the Crystallizer, Northshire Cleric, and/or Potion Vendor since I felt these low cost cards are very important to ramping up the heal and draw and you need a way to ensure getting them ASAP.
However, mages with giants + conjurer's, quest rogues, zoo lock, and mech warriors just roll this. I'm on the fence with Quartz Elemental. It seemed to draw attention but at 5/8, it doesnt challenge giants before you complete the quest. At 5 attack, it really doesnt challenge anything big which is another weakness for this deck. Maybe with Shadowreaper Anduin in wild or Shadow Word: Death/Forbidden Words in standard but I couldnt get this to work. It was worth playing around with though so thanks to the OP.
There's several versions of Zoolock running right now, and they're all fantastic, but also beatable.
Battlecry Shaman is obviously very good, but not quite as OP as I thought it might be.
I've been playing singleton Mage and Hunter and they're good! I went from Rank 9 to Rank 6 playing those two decks. Zephrys is absolutely amazing. I haven't lost a game where I got to play him. Giving me Brightwing on turn 2, Pyroblast on turn 20, or Flamestrike when I ask nicely, he absolutely lives up to his hype. More consistent than Kazakus, which is essential for the singleton decks. Oh yeah, Reno and Brann are no slouches either. Did I mention zoo is running rampant? New Reno is a way better turn 6 play than old Reno was against that type of deck.
Quest Paladin is absolutely busted. There will have to be a nerf. I was playing a heavy control deck and successfully cleared his Reborn minions 6-7 turns in a row (after he successfully completed quest) with cards and value to spare. I was gaining board control and he was running out of cards. Then he plops down a Mechano-egg, and there was no coming back. I'm genuinely not sure how to beat this deck. Zoo can maybe out-aggro it, but it also has tons of life gain. The real issue is that it breaks control decks with infinite value. And it might actually be a worse offender than Jade Druid. That deck went infinite at the end, which was also unfair to control decks, but Quest Paladin starts going infinite in the mid-game.
All in all the power level of decks being played feels ridiculously high right now, but Quest Paladin is the only one that I'm sure is actually broken. I give it four weeks tops before there's a nerf.
I'm gonna try Slysssa's Quest Malygos Druid and Alliestrasza's Quest Shudderwock Shaman, not only because I like the decks, but also because they are made by cute female streamers who deserve more recognition... Of course, I already upvoted both. :) :) :)
Fist off replying to Sherman: You got downvoted because you are blantantly objectifiying these female streamers. In a world where objectification is at an all time high, doing it, where it really doesn't make sense to do it, just makes you look like a creep. You could have just said you like the female streamers and think they deserve more attention as streamers and gamers, not because you think they are 'cute'. I know it's confusing, I was confused as to why you got downvoted, then saw the word cute and facepalmed hard.
Both those decks seem cool though.
I actually realised that I love highlander decks and teching the meta with a bunch of 1-offs, but also getting rewarded for playing just 1 copy of a card. So I've been trying a Hunter Highlander Quest thing. Don't think the quest is necessary, but I got it out of a pack so thought I'd give it a try. Also want to give deathrattle Rogue a try eventually and an aggro totem/overload Shaman.
First game: I was Quest Priest (Dekster's Wall, with a few tweaks -- I subbed a Mass Dispel for the usual 1-mana priest health spell and it did come in handy).
Opponent was a Quest Shaman going nuts with lackeys and dragons, who ran out of fuel -- to Psychopomps who rezzed Zilliax a total of four times (and healed 12 HP for me for the quest), then went all in to a wide board that got Plague of Death'd.
His RNG with lackeys wasn't good; he kept getting the mutate or taunt ones, which allowed me to rebound and win after going down into the teens in health.
This card is OP in freeze mage, as expected. Pulls your pocket galaxy more consistently if you're not under pressure, or stalls with freezes/box otherwise. Great conjuring target and great draw after pocket galaxy is active
After winning a bunch with very mediocre and useless cards. Obviously didn't really get it at the start, but luckily neither did my opponents, so just played for tempo and won, also, discovering the Queen every times helps a little.
Then I decided that I could've/should've just put together a weapon, buff it and just go face, so I did.
Climbed from rank 11 to 5 last night and did some spectating at the end
Knee jerk reaction: quest druid seems both super popular and absolutely terrible (or needs refining badly). I've only lost to it once with terrible draws and the people on my friendlist had a similar experience
Out of curiosity, how many of you make it to using Chef Nomi? I played this deck for a majority of launch afternoon (Nomi is the only card I don't have), and I either completely overwhelmed the opponent, or drew/played poorly and lost. This was only rank 15 to 10 - I'm just curious what other people experienced (that I might have missed in Kripp's stream).
Winter Veil Wreath
2/5 for the acheivement.
Bomb Quest Warrior
I played it, warrior is lacking too much survival. It is taking lots of damage through using weapon.
Violet Illusionist could have a spot in the deck. But it is only available in wild, and definitely not an easy mode.
What Free Quest Did You All Get?
Hack the System
Back to playing my Jade Shudderwock Shaman unless I get some Pirates, then a big "if" in case of playing this Quest.
Uldum Heal Priest

Tomb Warden
6/12 blank, yes, if you put aside the taunt synergy tools ''newly'' added to warrior's arsenal ^^
New Warrior Minion - Tomb Warden
This card is just really OP in arena and standard ladder. That's for sure
Uldum Heal Priest

Theorycraft Quest Paladin
Found something that worked for me in the end

How'd Your Pack Opening Haul Go?
I'm not sure I should even post this, but I got insanely lucky - three legendaries from only 18 packs, plus the freebie upon login.
Rainbow!
Definitelty my all-time favourite card.
RAINBOWS FOR ALL!
How'd Your Pack Opening Haul Go?
Only opened about 15 - 20 packs. Didn't count but didn't save heavily either.
Free: Making Mummies
Raid the Sky Temple
Supreme Archaeology
and crafted Zephrys the Great Good start so far. Really enjoying wild Highland mage right now!
Piloted Shredder
Shedding! \,,/
What Free Quest Did You All Get?
I got Rogue myself, quite happy with that!

1x Waggle Pick
1x Deadly Poison
1x Tinker's Sharpsword Oil
1x Preparation
1x Goblin Auto-Barber
1x Naga Corsair
Worked pretty well.
