Uldum Heal Priest

Notes after playing a bit: I've now played quite a few more games than before, and it seems like the deck should be decent, but I'm not winning with it all that often. I know I'm definitely making misplays, and that's part of it, but it often just doesn't get there. A lot of the time, it seems to be because opponent RNG gives them good answers. Meanwhile, our deck has no RNG. I think that about sums up the state of this deck. And reminds me why I don't really like hearthstone much these days.

Overview

The idea here is pretty simple: complete the healing quest, and abuse the insanely strong hero power on solid minions. Very important note: given that this is a healing quest, you do NOT need to necessarily play the quest on turn 1. You can wait and play for tempo. You just need to play it before doing any actual healing.

I think the Nightscale Matriarch will be pretty crucial for late game, when all that healing we have in the deck has already completed the quest, but we still have it. This dragon will be insane with all this healing.

We're focusing on minions to heal with battlecries as much as possible, so that means less of the healing spells, and no wild pyromancer.

I think the core cards (non-negotiable, must include) are likely to be:

Activate the Obelisk (obviously)

Crystallizer (self-damage, and solid early unit)

Penance (removal and healing both)

Hench-Clan Shadequill (VERY strong body, which can trade with almost anything early, AND does healing if it is killed)

Nightscale Matriarch (provides a potentially endless stream of minions in the late-game, as buff targets)

Injured Blademaster (very strong body and early healing target)

Potion Vendor and Squashling are probably not required inclusions, but my initial impression is that they are good.

Honorable Mentions - cards I considered, but not using for the first iteration of this deck idea:

Power Word: Shield - wasn't sure what to leave out, and it's a spell, not a minion.

Injured Tol'vir - I failed to open literally any of these in my packs so far, and I'm not going to craft them.

Damaged Stegotron - might be a bit too expensive; but on the other hand, it IS a mech, and we have a Zilliax in the deck. Hmm. This one might require more careful thought.

Lady in White - this is probably too slow, and it has negative synergy with the Squashling and Zilliax, but otherwise it seems pretty good. Might be a good inclusion, maybe - but probably too slow.

Barista Lynchen - might be an excellent source of card draw, given 10 minions in this current list have battlecries. But leaving it out for now, because it might be too slow, and more importantly, I don't own it. She would be insanely good if you could land her on a board full of squashlings, but I doubt that is ever going to happen.

Imaginary ideal curve out:

Turn 1: Crystallizer

Turn 2: Activate the Obelisk + Northshire Cleric

Turn 3: Hero power (???) not exactly ideal (coin + Bone Wraith if you're going second)

Turn 4: Hench-Clan Shadequill

Turn 5: Value trade using Hench-Clan Shadequill, then heal it and an Injured Blademaster to full using a Neferset Ritualist (healing counter = 7-10)

Turn 6: 3x Squashling for 6 more healing (healing counter = 13-16), possibly finishing the quest.

Turn 7: Nightscale Matriarch + Circle of Healing - let the shenanigans begin

Possible idea for improvement: Bloodmage Thalnos + Archmage Vargoth in place of .... something that has two copies. Not sure yet what. But I've already had several times that I wanted Holy Ripple to deal 2 damage. Both of these cards would make that happen.

I played around with this but couldnt get it to work. If you lose the board, you are done. So add Mass Hysteria? But then you lack draw. I added Questing Explorer, Acolyte of Pain, and even Witchwood Piper. The pipers were for the Crystallizer, Northshire Cleric, and/or Potion Vendor since I felt these low cost cards are very important to ramping up the heal and draw and you need a way to ensure getting them ASAP.

However, mages with giants + conjurer's, quest rogues, zoo lock, and mech warriors just roll this. I'm on the fence with Quartz Elemental. It seemed to draw attention but at 5/8, it doesnt challenge giants before you complete the quest. At 5 attack, it really doesnt challenge anything big which is another weakness for this deck. Maybe with Shadowreaper Anduin in wild or Shadow Word: Death/Forbidden Words in standard but I couldnt get this to work. It was worth playing around with though so thanks to the OP.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, for me (as the OP), I have not been able to get into the game to try it out, because life. I'll see what I think when I get a chance to try out the deck. I actually opened most of what I need in only 18 packs, amazingly enough, so I'll be trying it out for sure.

I would drop the farseers. They are too much and not so good. Other 3 cost cards seem better. Especially some with better bodies. Maybe even Omega Medics.

I actually opened a High Priest Amet, but I missed on some of the commons I have in this list. I don't like crafting commons, so when I get a chance to start playing later, I will probably play with a somewhat different list from what I have posted here. And I'll probably include the High Priest. Maybe quartz elementals as well. I did open 2 holy ripples and at least one neferset ritualist, so that's good. I have most of the cards posted here, but not all, so initial testing will be a bit different from this list. I do like the idea of Psychopomp; and you are probably right that the farseers are the weakest card in this list.

Potion Vendor seem a really good card, very low cost, potential for a lot of healing and easy to keep for late game to recover from a turn of trade.

[Hearthstone Card (Psychopomp) Not Found] may be a nice addition to play, in early game you can use one of the injured minion to trade, cast Psycopomp to get him back (full health in case of blademaster or tol'vir) and give him reborn to heal them later

Maybe [Hearthstone Card (damaged stegodon) Not Found] and or the 5/8 for 5 which can't attack while damaged might work? Maybe even lady in white could find a place in this deck.

All in all looks pretty good as is. Forgot about the squaslings but I Think they will be pretty good with the quest.

Yeah, those are good ideas for sure. I doubt this list is optimized, but it is probably on the right track. I almost included Barista Lynchen, but I'm not sure about her. Very likely she would also be good, with all the battlecries.

Yeah that could work although maybe too slow? Bloodmage thalnos might be ok to include with the two spells +card draw

I doubt mass resurrect will be very good with this archetype. If you want the healing effects from things like Neferset Ritualist, Potion Vendor or Squashling, then you don't want to use mass resurrect.
